I just uploaded my song to spotify and it was too quiet (I made everything 8 LUFS)... is it okay if the LUFS occasionally dips to 7?

Yes that's fine but 7 is actually pretty loud

@vxd Well, I ask because I realized parts of the song were going into 7 territory, so I remastered at 8 and the parts I wanted to be loud weren't loud enough, so I liked the original mix that occasionally dipped to 7 more, but I don't wanna break some golden rule of mixing and ruin my mix.

Set to short term and see if your getting peaks like 6 or 7 that's pretty loud but depends on your genre, use s long look ahead to get more accurate monitoring

@@vxd Whsts long look? So if the track occasionally hits 7 or 6 LUFS momentarily, that's okay? It's for EDM and metal so louder the better.

I have a question and I hope you can help me. I made a very noisy distorted drone song that needs to stay that way and I cannot reduce the threshold on the maximizer any more than it is. Is it ok if I just slide the output master on the right down until it reaches the desired LUFS or is there a better way to reduce the volume while retaining the oomf and snap. It doesn't sound bad at all but I just want to know if you know of a way?

one thing you can do, before applying any compression or limiter, is just reduce the volume of all the tracks, try reducing by 5 db or 10 db (not too much, just enough to get the sweet spot). Then lift up again with limiter.
