They hadn't read the task. Usually such preparation tasks where they are posed or made to wear something come with instructions like "Do not remove the blindfold." As such, it is very reasonable to assume that untying themselves would DQ them until they are in a position to actually read the task and see there is nothing that forbids it. Unfortunately for Ian, it was moving the bucket that was illegal in this one, but he never even considered that before moving it in a panic to not make a mess, even though he had no clue what the task was yet.

there are so many solutions here. break the string so you dont have to take the tape off of the hole and then scoop the sand out of the top with the cups. allow the sand to poor out with one shoe in each of your hands, and dump one shoe while the other fills (don't wait until they're both full to dump). lay your jacket over the colander so it fills without those pesky holes. take off your pants and tie one of the pant legs closed to collect the sand. *pull the bottom of the plastic curtain hanging on the left wall towards the floor bucket so the sand travels across the curtain and into the bucket.* take off that jump suit that i think i saw one of the guys wearing and tie one of the legs off near the waist, and then let the sand funnel down the arm sleeve, through the remaining pant leg, and out into the bucket, using the broom/lacrosse stick for added rigidity if you find you can't hold it straight. sit in the corner and pray to god; if that doesn't work, pray to satan. tilt the table at a 45 degree angle and hold the wood against the table top firmly to form a funnel, filling any gaps resulting from uneven surfaces with toilet paper. roll the clue paper into a tube and join that with the toilet paper tube to see if that's long enough to get the sand falling in the right direction. or even unscrew the ends from either the broom, lacrosse stick, or table legs so it's just a tube and let the sand fall through the tube into the bucket. you literally could have beaten most methods that people tried in this video just by filling your safety goggles and letting sand dump on the floor whenever you emptied the goggles. easier said from behind a computer screen though i guess

I was thinking free yourself and build a slide for the sand out of the table, or even better, the curtain. Then release the sand when the slide is fully operational. I just wonder why they didn't stop, calm down and think it over. It was not a fastest wins task, they had all the time to think about it. Surely in 10-15 mins they could have come up with something, other than mindlessly attacking the sand with flip-flops.

You can line the inside of the colander with toilet roll, and then just use it like a bowl to transfer the sand. If you want to plug up the hole it might be possible to also use the toilet paper to stopper it while you build your transferring device.

To everyone that's coming here and saying they all touched the sand: I think that rule was more so along the ideas of you can't transport sand via your hands. As in you can't scoop handfuls of sand and put it into the bucket

Each person that tried to plug the bucket back up could have been gotten on "time stops when the sand stops". So arguably, Sian got no sand in bucket B.

That would be the way Greg judged it. He was kind in this series. In series 10 they had the several 'you may not' tasks and Greg disqualified them each time they made even the tiniest mistake (The first task, bring these drinks from the phone booth to the caravan they all got DQ'd and one of them spilt one or two drops I think). In that series Greg was absolutely brutal, but in several other series he was being very nice.

there was a bunch of that “I can’t do thing but Alex can” in season 1. I suspect, in the spirit of the rules, the producers eventually asked the contestants to stop doing that, or every task would have to repetitively say “you may not ask Alex to do anything you are prohibited from doing”

My first instinct would be to drag the table under bucket A, then use the items to scoop the sand towards bucket B. You could also wrap your hands in tp catch and transfer. But lining the colender woth tp would provably be the best method. It does say when the send stops, the task stops, which makes me wary of just putting tape back over the hole.

before you unplug the bucket, remove your trousers and ball up one of the legs, then aim the other leg into the floor bucket and align the top of the trousers under the bucket hole. The sand travels down the trouser leg into the bucket, you should get near 100%

Grasp the bottom of the plastic sheeting forming the wall opposite the table with two hands and pull it under Bucket A, careful not to tear the top away from the ceiling. With one hand on either side of the stream of sand, a channel the flow into Bucket B.

Carefully remove the hand from the loop without the sand starting to fall (coz it doesnt say you cant). Should have told Alex to go and get a piece of 3" pipe about 8ft long or a piece of cardboard/carpet of same length. Failing that, take off trousers or top, tie a knot in the legs/arms and let the sand pour in (coz it doesnt say you have to only use the things on the table). Transfer sand to bucket B.

Grab the mango, smash it. Grab the toilet paper, wipe the mango mash to get it mushy. The gooey paper will now gum up the holes in the collander/strainer. Add sand - the bottom layer will solidify to the papermash and form a solid bowl. Win.

Easy loophole - take your hand out of the adjustable knot that ties you to the tape in the first place since the rules never once said you have to leave it on. Second place some toilet paper inside the colander to block the holes and use that to get all the sand after yanking the tape off

Simple solution Step one remove article of clothing. Step two use article of clothing to line strainer/colander. Step three collect the ninety or so percent of the sand that hasn’t fallen out in the handful of seconds required to complete steps one and two using your jacket, sweater, or shirt. Step four dump collected sand in bucket b. Step five shake remaining sand from article of clothing. Step six do laundry when you get home.

I would have grabbed the boom. The handle is hollow metal and it looked like the screw attaching it to the brush had been removed, so the top of it could have probably been taken off too, creating a direct pipe from one bucket to the other.

I love trying to solve the puzzles - anyone else? I think I would have tried to unscrew the top and the base of the broom and use it as a chute, with taskmaster paper as a funnel. Will this work? Free tied hand, replace the sticky tape to prevent sand from leaking, take the shower curtain, put in on the floor under the bucket, remove the sticky tape, let all sand drain into the curtain, pick up sand using the curtain and place it into the second bucket like a sac.

First, wrap toilet paper around the bucket, so the sand keeps inside (hopefully). The put layers of toilet paper in the colander, put it below the bucket with sand and fill it up, then pour sand in other bucket.

I have a terrible idea. Use your shoe as a container to catch the sand. If you are wearing layers, leave the shoe on the ground, quickly take off your jacket, tie up the sleeves, put the strainer into the big hole and try to block off the head hole by folding it or whatever. It only says "Divert the sand from A to B. You can't touch the sand, move the buckets, or leave the room. Most sand diverted wins, time stops when sand stops." Nothing about you *having* to use the stuff on the table.

I wonder if you would have been able to remove the string from your hand with the tape still on the bucket. Then take the bottom and top of the broom of and used the hollow inside as a tunnel.

Well the best method i can think of, assuming you have fantastic balance, is to line the collander with strips of toilet paper to block the holes, then catch the sand

Step 1- grab the toilet paper and the strainer. Step 2- unroll paper and cover the strainer in toilet paper to plug the holes. Step 3- use a now complete container to catch the sand.

Easiest solution here would have been to move the bucket on the floor to under the bucket with the sand. The rules stated that you cant move the bucket, but didnt state which bucket.

Could you just unravel the toilet paper, place one end into the bucket with something heavy to hold it, then unravel it more and create a sort of funnel from bucket A to B?

I was hoping someone would have gone broom or lacrosse stick, the poles are hollow if you can maange to get ends off. I would have tried grabbing plastic off the wall or angle the table

Let 90 percent of the sand hit the floor and plug the hole just before it runs out and start moving the sand from the floor to the bucket at your leisure as the time only stopped when the sand stopped out of the bucket

I've never seen this show and have no idea why KZbin recommended it to me but I have to rant about how annoyed I am with everyone involved, including the comments section stupidity. Just grab the damn table, flip it upside down, catch all the sand and pour it into the other bucket.
