Hi Amber & Josh. Have you visited Dunedin FL, north of Clearwater? We have a Scottish heritage, walkable tree lined streets, pubs, and the Middle school and High school each have their own pipe bands. We just concluded the 56th Annual Dunedin Highland Games this weekend. North of Dunedin is Tarpon Springs FL, a delightful Greek community with small homes, tourist shops, restaurants and bakeries. We would love to have you come visit us!

I want to complement both of you for doing those road trips. I get the feeling a lot of not just Brits, but also Europeans, go to either NYC or Orlando and think they've seen America. As I'm sure you know, there's a lot of very different experiences to be had here, and especially getting out of the cities and popular tourist attractions and seeing small town America, going to little local mom-and-pop businesses, and just experiencing different states. I think you both have a much better sense of what your adopted country is all about.

I definitely agree! We knew we wanted to move here before we did those things...for some unknown reason...but doing those things sealed the deal! We've been to some VERY unheard of places, and loved soaking in the culture. Looking forward to doing lots more of that in 2024. Thanks for watching!

Love your story and can relate to that feeling. Grew up in a town of 800 in SE Ohio and while mildly content, have always felt a desire to adventure, travel and live abroad one day. I knew nothing of opportunities to get me abroad when I was young, and the Internet was just becoming a 'thing' in the late 90's so I never pursued, out of fear. If you need sunshine, greenery and architecture, you have so many great choices! Charleston, Savannah, New Orleans are all places I love!

BTW, you feeling like you need the sunshine and find the weather in the UK depressing is a real thing. They've probably changed the terminology since my time of studying psychology. But it used to be classified as seasonal depression and is a real thing. Most people will find themselves a bit down. But many others get seriously depressed and melancholy. You can look into it as there are things one can do to help some. I personally hate dreary gloomy days and extremely cold weather. Hence I moved from the midwest and horrible winters to the southeast. Haven't regretted it and it's going on 25 years now.

St. Pete has some older architecture and the Sunshine Skyway bridge is a site to see…think Forth Rd Bridge but much higher! We have beautiful beaches with amazing sunsets on the west coast of Florida. My favorite city is Saint Augustine, which is considered the oldest in the US and was founded in 1565. I go to the UK and Europe because I love the history and architecture, but there is much to see in the US as well and i’m sure you will have a great time exploring!

Hi Gary! Thanks so much for reaching out. I really hope you find the episode this afternoon useful, we tried to cover most of the 'main' routes but it's not an exhaustive list, the attorney's contact details will be in the video description and I thought she was great so I would definitely recommend reaching out directly for specific advice. So, new content weekly, on Thursdays? Although you've seen some of the Northeast at the summer camp in New York, I'd highly recommend visiting New England. Lots of history, great beaches and seafood, and unique accents. Also it's a lot more pleasant in summer than Florida. And the fall foliage is legendary.

The term "soocer" comes from Britain! It's a Britishism to shorten things like that; another example would be "telly" for "television"....🙂 "association football" = "association" = "assoc" = "soc" = "soccer". 🙂 ..then eventually the Brits changed it so all "football", not just association football, started being called "football", but the Americans couldn't do that, because, by that time, we already had a sport called "football", so we kept "soccer". 🙂
