Seeing the behind the scenes for this. The chemistry between Muk and Noxxi is top notch. The final edit is spot on with so little "directions" from Muk.

Small note : all green mechanic location are based on Bob placement (i.e. the kiter). The conduit that will empowered will always be the closest unempowered conduit from Bob when a orange arrow mechanic happen and the green arrow will always point at the furthest away conduit from Bob location. Thus making Bob placement really important the ease the movement of the group doing the green. Personally, I did kite that fight on heal chrono and stay behind the green group during P2 and 90 degree on their right or left side during P3, so they have the green circle on half side of the arena and the green arrow on the opposite, leave the orange group clear of any green mechanic.

Lets be honest, the real challenge in Raids, isn't the boss, its getting your group to do mechanics instead of quitting on first wipe.

Similar in strike CM's (puggable ones). Biggest causes of wipes in AH CM for me is the green circles (always one person running around like a headless chicken or not "getting" it), XJJ CM it's lack of CC or not getting sucked in, CO CM it's all mechanics in general over the course of the fight creating downs or damage debuffs.

one tip on getting to the green arrow is during that attack decima is never jumping, so you can move through her hitbox into the green arrow. and if a pylon is hit more than 3 times, everyone gets a stack of exposed, which will likely result in arrow kiters downing.

tried decima first time. couldnt see the arrows due to my low settings. Have your graphic setting for your Enviroment to Medium, and Character Model Limit to High.

3 Heal 7 DPS Quick Heal Catalyst kiting 90 degrees from both subgroups. Alac Heal Scourge with 3 Range DPS chill at Range. Alac Heal Scourge with 4 DPS chill at opposite side of the boss in Melee Range. Quick Heal Catalyst weaves all elements while alternating Jade Sphere on both subgroups giving quickness to everyone but themselves. +Lighting Flash is must have utility and I would also add Elemental Celerity for double 1200 reviving water geysers! Other utility is what you want. How does it work? Heal Cata's Quickness up time is 400% and range is 900 units so by standing between the two squads as they should they can reach both subgroups with Jade Sphere while being fathers player away 😁 already did that. The only downside is that as Heal Cata you have huge responsibility to provide quickness to everyone.

As hard as Decima is rn (early days) it’s one of the most fun raid bosses I’ve played in GW2. It really feels like a raid boss with all the mechanics going on.

I agree but it's imo way to punishing atm for an NM Boss, if it was a CM i get no issue about it but here in NM, everyone with a fair amount of brain cell should be able to do it easily instead of getting a mostly ensured wipe w only 1 dead. (even Dhuum can be done without any issue at 7 and still managed at 4 if u get good players) It's also kinda disapointing when u fight her then just after u go to Ura, aka the final boss of the wing, who's a completet pushover in comparaison and leave much more room to error/dead. Decima really deserved to be a final boss right now

These fights are starting to remind me of old school Dragon's Lair where you have to memorize the mechanic patterns and hit the right key at exactly the right instant. 50 times into this, you're like, coffee in one hand, dodge. Run, run, run. Stand still. Rez Bob, dodge again...

CMIIW on CC phase with the greens,during this time if im not mistaken the "arrow team" can help collect green here since the debuff from taking arrow laser is gone

Small things about rotation I noticed but cannot 100% confirm. - We noticed that the 2 leap attacks (the one with the knockback and the one with the outer arena) will alternate their order of casting in each attack rotation (after pizza). - The outer aoe leap attack also has her hit be lethal for that attack. - We noticed green arrow alternated with red arrow in the final 40%, in the 75-40% phase the red arrow was every 2nd set of arrows. The green arrow we found was always opposite the range stack group but that may have been happenstance. - Big note, those that entered the red ring under her would take increased damage from arrows due to Harmonic Sensitivity. - When the single orange arrow happens (or the plain 5 orange arrows in later phases), that appears to be when she consumes the one "Peal" buff and charge uncharged pylons nearest the kiter. - Letting through a green while her cc bar is active resets the bar. P.S. We found that having even a single double charged pylon OR letting through too many greens made the 75% and 40% cc phases really hard. We had a tempest and heal druid (me) in the melee stack so the tempest used rebound and I used glyph of the stars on the ranged stack for instances where we messed up like this (and I used "Guard!" to assist my subgroup when soaking many greens or during that phase). P.P.S We had our range group healer kite arrow in P1 but a dps kite it in phase 2 and 3 to let the healer focus on healing the multiple arrows.

Small correction: The mechanic of the miniboss and of Decimas CC phase isnt that the dmg increases with more greens, its a reflect mechanic. Same as Gorseval basically, the more dmg you do to it while she is in her shield, the more dmg you get. You probably didnt notice because you were healing as it seems ^^ Good guide otherwise

We haven't killed it yet(we have only had 4 hours to try so far split into 2 separate days and swapping a couple ppl out, so we think we will get it in the next 2 we have tonight)...but are at a low enough percentage I could watch this without worrying about spoilers, but this is what we have been doing right down to the name of our kiter. Minus one thing, our melee team stacks the orange lightning circles & dodges out at the last second rather than spreading them we first tried spreading them but found that to be too much of a hassle, and they can do more dps this way, although if you get hit by all of them it is an instant down,so you do have to time the dodge or at least hope your healer per-barriered

Hmm we had our Bob bring his own healing and and wasn’t a dps I assume our healers just weren’t healing Bob well enough and he shoulda been dps. Glad u put out the decima guide so now more ppl will understand mechanics and we won’t spend 2 hrs per boss

This boss alone is single-handedly carrying this expansion for me. It's amazing, though some of my static mates do not carry that sentiment hahah Best boss since Temple of Febe CM (which beats HT CM design wise by a mile), though I am worried they won't improve on it with CM or LCM (which will most likely just be boring HP increase + CM mechanics). Desima as it is is just perfect in terms of clusterfuck. Maybe adding more fast-paced forced movement but in a good way could improve it. Three phases that build on themself, unique buffs and mechanics, splitting group into melee and ranged. Call me a WoW fanboy but this boss really scratches my itch that I have been missing ever since moving to GW2 from that game.

each time i see green and red aoes from boss I "well time to guess" since im colorblind but now we get a kind of faith red/orange arrow. Is there a colorblind mode or add on in blis hud or in graph conf?

one thing that might help is that the red arrow follows Bob, while the green arrow is always stationary. if you see the red arrow chasing bob, then you know that on the opposite side the green arrow will appear fairly soon

the red arrow "burns" with a strong red, so it should be distinguishable by the luminosity. And the green will always be on the opposite side of the arrow group, since all arrows kind of group together. But for real, they really should implement a color blind mode.

And don't be in the faint inner red circle when tanking a red/orange arrow, since that also hurts like hell really good guide^^ ... man that qfb damage sucked, whoever firsttimed that in there should seriously reconsider raiding XD ...didnt even have enough time to skin those pistols... but it was a lot of fun, and at least I gave quickness (from second try onwards... lets not talk about the first try)

​@@KyotoKitawaza I was inside, it's extremely boring and punishing, compared to other raids. The raids are currently the least popular activities in gw2, less people goes on raids than pvp. Because of the difficulty, only the hard core is going to play w8, however the content is so boring, I seriously doubt it's going to be popular. It ends up like the Synthri meta. It's there, but noone cares, noone plays it, becuase it isn't rewarding. The whole current dlc update seems like they didn't relly care. We got a single map, and that's only for the convergence/raid. They didn't even bother to create new map. The leggy is cool, but that's all we got with this update. Everybody disliked soto, but in my opinion, if you are not a homestead decorator, this Janthir feels way worse

@@ereshkigalis The only punishing boss there was Decima. The others are completely fine and w8 is absolutely not only for hardcore. There are plenty of pug groups that are able to clear w8 without problem after few pulls. The difficulty of new wings in general is that most of us don't know the best tactics and group composition.I agree that Decima was too hard on release day for normal mode, but that will be fixed. It's true that raids have a smaller community than other things, but it's not because they're too hard. This is because casual gw players are used to very low difficulty from open world activities and normal strikes ,where you can overheal 99% of the mechanics and they are not punishing enough. These players need to remember that raids are lategame, which means a lot more effort than other things. If you're not ready for that, then raids aren't for you and that's totally fine. After all, the raiding community isn't as low as you think. There are a bunch of people without a static group, so clearing wings with pugs isn't a problem.

and where did anet say that was the purpose? in the article titled "Raids Return to Guild Wars 2 Next Week!" anet was saying to expect a challenge with words like "crafted to test even the most battle-hardened adventurers" and "Both the raid and the Convergence are packed with high-stakes encounters, hidden lore, and mechanics designed to challenge teams of all sizes" they also said "we have designed the normal mode of the raid to allow pickup groups and more casual raiders a chance at success" which doesn't really imply wing 8 will be more accessible then other raids just that people playing in pug groups could maybe clear it if they try hard enough. I mean if you wanna say you think raids should be more accessible that's fine but anet never claimed that was their purpose
