We were excited about Hurricane Charley, we watched a lot of it happen out of the windows before hiding in the closet. We didn't realize though how much damage it did until after the fact and we were so worried our house was gone (we were at my parents). So glad you all are safe, those storms are nothing to mess around with! I remember the chapstick trick from when you posted that ages ago! I am a germ freak though, can only imagine the germs on that handle!

After april 27th I have been terrified of tornados. I live in North Alabama. We had up to 4 different tornado warnings at a time just in my county. They let us out of work mid day and I it took me 2 hours to get home (due to trees blocking roads) when it's normally a 20 min drive. The aftermath was devistating. We didn't have power for a week and we were extremely lucky we do not have our house destroyed. Several homes within 5 miles of us were destroyed.

The April 27th tornado was truly terrible, my cousins were literally in it! Their house was destroyed and all they had for shelter was a hallway they sat in during it. My cousin wouldn't eat for weeks because he was so traumatized. My family went down to Alabama after the tornado and donated food, water, clothes, and toys to our cousins and to other people that lost their things. We got to see all the houses destroyed and we even got to see our cousin's house that got destroyed.

yeah we had a tornado watch too here in TN and also our sirens went off so my hubby and I got our 2 girls and went straight for the bathroom with no window in there thank goodness!... glad y'all are safe now too

I'm in Oregon and have never experienced anything like that storm here. However, I do remember being in Missouri years ago and a tornado was heading our way. That was freaky! Glad y'all are safe!

yes!!! i have the same excitement! we live in kentucky outside of louisville and get some rough tornado weather too but I have NEVER seen the sky look like it just did out your front door. I love twister too! I am fascinated by what the weather can do.

FYI! I am from the town where Twister was filmed at, Wakita, OK!!! :) We have a small museum with some pictures and tornado related stuff that dealt with the movie. When I was younger I was always told that an Indian put a blessing over Wakita so that we wouldn't have a tornado go through the town and ever since I lived there, about 15 years, I've never seen a tornado go through the town. It's always stayed on the highway 5 miles south.

I live in south AL and thankfully I didn't have to hunker down! There was a Doppler indicated tornado & damage 15-20 mi from me. We just got a lot of rain but Thankfully this wasn't as bad as April 27th for all of you up north. Prayers to those affected by this storm in one way or another!!!

One of my aunts and uncles lost their brick home and vehicle in that Tornado. They live in Bama too. They were in their home when it happened. Nothing was salvageable except for some church books and they only had scratches and bruises. I have pictures of their house and their was nothing left standing. 😥 Luckily they also had a lake home that was fine a few miles away that they decided to just make into their all year home.

My heart was about to burst out of my chest watching this one. The only time I have ever had to get to a safe place for a storm was about 4 years ago on the bus. We were about to leave the school, and vice principle had us get everyone off the buses and in to the school. It was one of the scariest things ever. Yes, I drive a school bus.

We're in Limestone county. We had one go 2 miles south of us, one half a mile north, and the last passed over us. Scary, especially after seeing what two of them did to my in-law's house in 2011. We're so thankful our loved ones were spared this time. On a lighter note, I just used the phrase "hunkered down" while rewriting the last few chapters of my novel last Friday, I think. I'm not sure yet if it will make the final cut or not.

I hate tornadoes! We had an F4 in 1995 and an F2 in 2009. However we got dry slotted with this system and had dirt storms and 35-45 mph with 60 mph gust! I feel really lousy today and I think it's nothing more than allergies from all the dirt! Glad you guys were safe and my heart breaks for the people who weren't as lucky!

That same storm front dropped an ef4 in my hometown of vilonia... "Gone" has a new meaning. It's so scary. The 2011 storm front also hit vilonia but not as bad as AL.

It was really bad here too. 30a was closed and parts of hwy 98. Ours schools have been closed for two days for flooding. The flooding ya'll had last July when you were here was tiny compared. It's been crazy!

I live in Pensacola, Fl and we got a ton of the storm. Lots of roads and hwys collapsed, houses and schools flooded and collapsed, some deaths from the floodings, and one tornado.

I live in Tuscaloosa and April 27 really did change my life, even though my physical belongings weren't destroyed, it's still the city I grew up in so it's like a part of my life got blown away. And the Monday tornado (or whatever they're calling it) came right past my neighborhood so a little too close for comfort haha.

I get excited when I see a big thunderstorm happen which is odd cause they use to scare the crap out of me. Sometimes when it rains really hard outside. I'll go and dance in it. You know what would be an idea for target balling, you should get a bunch of your friends together and you could all go see the big red balls at Target and sing the Big Red Ball song in unison. That would be awesome. : )

I grew up in choctaw oklahoma, and live in texas now, but growing up in tornado alley makes me want to chase the tornadoes down here. my husband is always yelling at me to get inside and put the camera up when the sirens go off. I LOVE tornadoes. I do NOT love t ha t they take people's lives, but something about them is so beautiful to me. it's awesome that you are a stormie too!!!!

I grew up in South Carolina where we would have to evacuate for hurricanes, and it never bothered me. I moved to Michigan when I was 8 and 13 years later I'm still terrified of tornadoes. Night storms are the WORST. We had one a few years ago and I had to go wake up my mom and sister to come sleep in the basement with me and a funnel cloud touched down just up the road. No bueno.
