This song is one of my favourites from you, Mister Shindell. Which means a lot, given that I enjoy so many of your songs. The authentic Roman-era setting, the beautifully weird situation the protagonist finds himself in, the clever, jazzy chords. And, of course, that unlikely "mule fatale" called Clara. Who in their right mind would write a song like this? No one but a genius. I am so looking forward to seeing you live for the first time in the Netherland at the Concert in the Woods.

Big Bill Broonzy meets Django Reinhardt, without appearing to do much technically. I wish my toes were as relaxed and dextrous as this. Delightful.

Who woulda thunk it? A song about a roman mule. Love the humming break. Wish I could see your magical fretting fingers. There must be sixteen at work, at least?

How about you learn the words to your songs before you tour again , 80 % of the times i've seen you you forgot the words to at least one song .
