She is worth 5 million or so and made 1.5 million playing ball in Russia. She played there for a number of years. From my very casual following of the story on the news, I was under the assumption she was naive to the working of the laws in Russia and unaware she had played there for years. Usually, in the first few days of starting a new job, you figure out what is "cool" to do and what you can't get away with on the job. But there were also people who seemed to get away with everything because they were top producers and things were overlooked. Perhaps she felt she fell into that category. Obviously, I have not kept up on the story but the authorities could have been tipped off by her competition. Which is another good reason to not even present the appearance of any illegal activities. It would be an embarrassment to the country if the citizens felt she was thumbing her nose at the same laws that they were under.
