he's getting one. There's no indication that he's being railroaded by the russian government, the charges for smuggeling drugs into russia can land you anywhere from 10-15 years, for instance a teach was caught smuggling weed into russia this year back in june and caught 14 years for it. Griner is really getting a lesser sentence and it's unlikely he's going to serve the full term due to his status.

Otto Warmbier should have known better than to be stealing and trespassing but you still thought he shouldn't be in jail in Korea

@@brianwhite1087 actually, I had a very different perspective on Otto Warmbier! He too was someone who chose to be in a foreign country and CHOSE to disobey the law in North Korea. He was prosecuted, as North Korea was entitled to do, and sentenced. However, the difference between Warmbier and Griner, in my view, is that in the video of Otto during his trial it was clear that something was very wrong with him. His obvious physical and mental condition clearly was deteriorated and the logical culprit was torture of some sort! Griner on the other hand exhibits no appearance of having been tortured. So, my point is that both of them chose to break the law in a foreign country and were rightfully prosecuted and sentenced for doing so. The unfortunate and truly objectionable part of the OW situation was that an American citizen was brazenly tortured and ultimately died as result.

“ What's next for Brittney Griner after Russian prison sentence?” 3,285 days in a Russian jail where she has plenty of time to learn Russian & write her tell all book when she comes back if the world is still intact.

Until this story I thought, "You do the crime, you do the time." However, then I looked up the amount of cannabis oil in the 2 cartridges in her luggage contained a combined 0.702 grams (0.0224 oz), I believe she did mistakenly pack the empty cartridges.

Cartridges are usually 1/2 and 1 gram, so .7 grams is not empty.

This is so true as one day in March I was talking to my husband and two seconds later he threw a blood clot and died right in front of me. I did CPT but to no avail. we must never forget how fragile life is and never take our loved ones for granted. my life has forever been changed.

@PeterPanish I totally agree with you. She's not the only American being held captive yet she wants our government to trade Viktor Bout, a Russian arms dealer, for her. Forget about the other Americans held in the Russian jails. Let's only worry about Brittney Griner. I could never let the arms dealer, nicknamed the 'Merchant of Death' go in exchange for Brittney Griner. It's not worth it. Not that's his life is worth more than hers but he has a lot heftier sentence than she does. Or send ALL American's back for Viktor Bout.

@@jessicaabril9567 she knew the rules and still decided to take the drugs with her. She thinks she's untouchable. Now she knows she's not. It's her own fault. Each country can sentence people the way they want. I don't feel sorry for her one bit.
