I am also glad to see that many people would not cheat, even in video games 🥳 Astarion was such a surprise for me, I started this game with intentions to romance Shadowheart, but I end up hating her😅 didn't expect anything from Astarion, but he turned out to be the best companion for me. I also have a thing for characters who has been emotionaly broken and now work hard to get their lives back. I feel like I am taking part and helping in a healing journey, and it's wonderful. Amazing voice acting is a cherry on top of course.

Like if I was meant to convert to Astarion. So agree with yah he is the best one! I completely agree, behind all his indifference and selfishness there is a sensitive broken soul. That's why I love him so much, there are layers to his character. I would never hurt him like this 😤 He remind me so much of Zevran from Dragon Age, he too seamed like a selfish, frivolous man when you first meet him, but it's just a facade to hide how broken he really is. All my favorite LI are deeply traumatized characters 😅

he never does what one thinks he will do. But yeah, I'm more in the camp of he will absolutely will not like the idea of a threesome with gale/lae'zel or an open relationship with either/or. He is already very prickly about you sleeping w Lae'zel or Minthara, and keeps getting upset at that. Gale's thing seems like more of an adult relationship and less just fun. Astarion is very much about power in the relationship, so a more serious relationship than his (i.e Gale's) or one where they have more power over Tav (Lae'z/Minthara) is something he absolutely will not want. Plus, Gale will absolutely make you choose, bc his experience with Mystra he wont like you double dipping. Gale is already doing that power thing by actually inviting you to sleep w him after you have made your choice. One of the very few times he disproves of something that is not evil (actually probably the only thing) is saying that you won't betray Astarion. He actually seems very upset despite trying to keep his cool. Astarion won't like he is stealing one of his main support (or toy) tbh. We don't know enough abt Wyll to know where Astarion would stand on that, and I think the only route where there might have an ot3 would be w Shadowheart not only bc they keep flirting at each other and w Tav, the power dynamics are not as contrived as w the others.

Thank you for the video, I take my romances really seriously, I would never have done this in any of my playthroughs. I could play the most evil character, but I still would never cheat. In fact there are only two things that I never do in games. Cheat on my LI and hurt animals. No amount of being in character can make me cross this line. P.S. I love Astarion with all my heart. It's strange but in every game with multiple LI options, I always fall in love with one and completely ignore the rest. I played DA:O four times, romanced Zevran in all of them. Played DA2 seven times and chose Fenris every single time 😆. Cullen is doomed to always be with my Inquisitor of course 🤭I am staying faithful even on different playthroughs 😅

Why is this me, seriously. The only time I'm ever conflicted is during my DA:O playthroughs because I love Zevran and Alistair so much I can never properly choose, which is why I downloaded a poly mod. I always do end up picking Zevran though, because I'm a Dalish and I want Alistair's arse on the throne because screw Anora. In DA2 I always always romance Fenris, and if my pride is wounded I use Anders for a quick rebound makeout sesh but throw him out as soon as he badmouths Fenris. 🤐

The first time I saw the scene where Gale talks about his feelings for Mystra, I felt gutted for my character's sake. How is any mortal supposed to compete with his blatantly romantic affections for a *goddess*? That's like trying to follow the amazing tap dancing act at the school talent show by playing a kazoo. I just kinda wrote him off in my head because of it, I assume the minute she shows him any real attention at all my character will find herself dropped like a hot potato.

I honestly couldn't see Astarion fighting for someone who betrayed him. He'd probably be snarky, but deeply hurt. He already has trust issues, that would probably be something he wouldn't tolerate unless you said up front you weren't serious about him.

If they went as far as making Gale mention that he knows you slept with someone else and still propositions you, you know there will probably be some drama. If you betray Astarion, will he remember it later when you see his quest through with Cazador? Will Cazador try and use Astarion's love interest against him in some way - He certainly seems like the type. Will Astarion care? Will he remember? When you let him drink your blood he says it's a gift, and he won't forget it - I'm willing to bet that if you stay loyal to him, he will remember that too. So many questions and so much to look forward to. Ah, what a great game :)

When Mystryl was destroyed by Karsus, she was reborn as Mystra in the body of a Netherese child. During the time of Troubles, Mystra was slain by Helm when she attempted to return to her home in Dweomerheart. Midnight was eventually given the portfolio and power of Mystra (and took up her name too) by the overgod Ao for her actions during the Time of Troubles. Ellminster, the Sage of Shadowdale is probably the most prominent of her lovers who are still alive. Mystra had seven daughters (known as the Seven Sisters) by posessing a mortal woman's body. Given the timeline of the game, a number of the Seven Sisters are now dead (or weave-spirits), but some are still alive. Sometimes, Mystra will imbue certain people with a portion of her power, those are called the Chosen of Mystra. (That is a directive from the Overgod Ao to make sure Mystra's power is kept in check and contained, otherwise she could easily overpower all the other gods.) The idea that a mortal would expect a god to be "faithful" is a little strange.

As much as I'd like a proper representation for polyamory in video games, I doubt there'd be a proper one in Baldur's Gate 3 (considering every possible playable character has their own drawbacks, and stories are bound to conflict). That being said, if Astarion is ultimately not comfortable sharing his partner, no matter what, I'll **STILL** be picking him as my romance option! Haha you captured my feelings for Gale and Astarion so well. For my first playthrough I couldn't get Gale's weave scene (I didn't know about it at that time) so I ended up promising myself to Astarion, but ended up to bed alone because I felt bad for Gale. No booty for my Tav (yes her name was really Tav because I thought it as ok name lol). Also, what I found interesting, I am not 100% sure about this, but Gale's "proposition" linesfor both scenes (during the party & night after during the ebdtime story) are exactly the same, but the voice acting is different. Maybe it's just me, but during the party he sounds more confident and "charming", while after the party night he kind of sounds bit defeated, unsure and maybe he actually feels bad even asking about it. I like that kind of touch, maybe I would've liked more completely different lines for the night after, but atleast it is not a full copy paste voicelines.

Imagine how weird it would be if they actually used his original scene? Gale talks you into cheating on Astarion with him, and then proceed to tell you about being in love with Mystra and those veils she opened for him... Quite possibly Gale didn't have any significant relationships after or even before Mystra, so, if he felt real connection with your character, then it makes sense that he would insist on giving it a try - this makes his story much sadder tho(

@Ability Drain im a slut for Astarion, so, I adore all his cutscenes and reactions... but in a sense the way those companions interact with each other is even more interesting than the way they interact with the mc. Something about the world exploration dialogue and then talking to each other during cut scenes makes them look more real than the mc, and adding a love triangle to the mix helps to make them seem even more real. Oh, and I wonder would Gale try to steal you from any companion or just Astarion? Cause they def don’t like each other much...

oof----- I feel like I don’t have much to add here that hasn’t already been touched on by other commenters but I will say this. For anyone who thinks that Astarion wouldn’t care or would just take the more the merrier ;) approach, I got news for you. My last playthrough I focused on Astarion romantically but had high or very high approval with everyone in the party which meant my Tav had her pick of company the night of the party. Sooo I save scummed accepting and rejecting party members just to see what alternative reaction dialogues were like depending on who I said yes to and rejected and I did find something INTERESTING about Astarion. He had SOMETHING to say about Tav’s choice in chosen bunkmate for every party member but the interesting part comes at choosing how you answer his remark. I may be wrong but if my memory serves right there was 3 options to choose from that boiled down to 1. Looking forward to it/it’s gonna be fun/it’s gonna be a good time. 2. This is just about sex, nothing serious/no feelings here oh nooo 3. You jealous? Circling back to what I said regarding the people who think he wouldn’t care…. Choosing the first option, aka the option for your Tav to verbalize they’re looking forward to their time with who they chose (are excited/and are not denying having feelings for them) for anyone but Le’zael (aka the only one in the party who makes it clear there are absolutely no feelings involved for her when it comes to sex with Tav or anyone else) Astsrion DISAPPROVES of Tav’s verbal excitement/affection for their choice… ._. If Tav shows any indication to Astarion they’re remotely serious about their affections for anyone but La’zael (who up till the party hasn’t had any scenes with Tav or dialogue indicating interest in them romantically or even platonically) or if you choose the third option and question if he’s jealous, you will get a screen notification of DISAPPROVAL. For someone who likes to snark a lot & act like his heart is untouchable or was lost over the years he was a slave to Cazador, it’s sure seems Fragile when it comes to Tav showing any favoritism or more fondness for someone besides himself who returns those sentiments to Tav or seems a romantic threat. So yeah. Not sure if it’s different if your approval status with him is lower that night since I’ve heard you’ve only gotta be as medium for anyone in the party to unlock the romance with them, and if it’s lower he may not care so much? But in this case I’m pretty certain regardless if he were to address it or not if he were to know of Tav spending the night in another’s arms regardless if it was Gale or not I’m pretty certain the last thing he’d feel about it is UNCARING. ❤️

All that aside though I gotta say I truly have a hard time seeing Gale as sleazy for shooting his shot with Tav even knowing that they spent the night with Astarion, and for a few reasons. I will not say I found his actions here admirable because they ain’t no matter how you spin them, and it doesn’t help that Gale has already revealed he’s not exactly the best when it comes to clear rejection or taking a hint when he wants someone :| (here’s hoping he’s learned to not do anything-- drastic to deal with with rejection the way he did with Mystra AMIRITE 😬) But let us look at facts for a moment 1. For this scene to occur Tav will have needed to show clear romantic interest in Gale during the weave scene. Even if it was only one moment of flirtation it was anything but vague and it happened while he was sharing something extremely intimate (to him) with them as well in them having shared the weave. 2. I doubt it but this moment could be companion centric and specific to choosing Astarion or perhaps even Le’zael. I doubt it but wouldn’t it be interesting if Gale is only willing to try one more time if Tav is to choose one or the other if they party members who A C T like whatever they’re doing with Tav is meant to be for fun or convenient in La’zaels case and NOT SERIOUS. Gale isn’t exactly subtle about how he feels about Tav’s choice in Astarion at the party but even before then no one is quiet about their doubts when it comes to his sincerity so why wouldn’t Gale question the man’s feelings for Tav or the nature of his affections for their companion? 3. Gale had no way of knowing how serious Tav & Astarion are about eachother or how they look when ‘courting’ someone in ernest. They’ve only been traveling together for a short time after all. And were his own feelings serious in nature, & if he took what Tav shared with him in the weave as genuine as well….. I can’t bring myself yo blame him for-- trying :c. It doesn’t help that he does seem genuinely saddened & disappointed if you reject him when he does. In short Gale may not be an entirely honest man… But I think his feelings always are. And that is something. 😔

And when I noticed the differences on the appearance of that DISAPPROVAL notice I was all 👀 WELL OK NOW I GOTTA CHECK THIS FOR EVERYONE AND SEE IF THERE IS A DIFFERENCE IN HOW ASTARION FEELS IN TAV CHOOSING THAT OPTION DEPENDING ON THEIR VHOICE IN PARTNER FOR THE NIGHT. And when I saw there was & even more telling he only seems ok with Tav being excited to spend time with Le’zael, the only one so far confirmed indifferent to romance and feelings of THAT nature, whereas he gets ☹️ if it’s anyone else sksksksksksksks GIRL WHEN I TELL YOU I SCREAMED. Astarion you big ol softie you ☺️

My game bugs out if I actually say yes to Gale after sleeping with Astarion LOL (look I did it out of curiosity, ok!). If you do the celebration night romance with Astarion and then tell Gale you'll sneak out after everyone's asleep the next night, then you'll have to click 'go to bed'. But instead of getting a scene with Gale, it just gets stuck with everyone's character models in the bed rolls and you'll have to reload to an earlier save to get out of it.

It is all because of the new hot fix#6(which was released after this video) where all romantic scenes accidentally broke. I've had the same thing today, so, don't worry. You can get that scene as soon as they release another fixed update :)

An option for polyamory could be interesting too. As someone who is polyam, a love triangle option is pretty old/boring to me but I don't mind them so it would be nice to see if maybe there were options for it to play out in a polyam style OR love triangle/fighting over the PC option via dialogue.

@@margisama I actually read something like that about vampires. After a humanoid being becomes a vampire their feelings start to twist to something more sinister. For example love is twisted to morbid obsession and so on. So I guess, sharing is a no no for Astarion. :D
