It's like Klingon sex. If you aren't broken in the morning, you aren't doing it right. (edit) Incidentally, there is alot of subtext with Lae'zel. Her attitude doesn't change, but there is a growing discrepancy between what she says and how she actually acts. I suspect that her romance development will involve her slowly admitting this. She cares, but she'll never admit it. She'll love you, but she'll never say the words.

I mean, she's a Githyanki. They have something of a superiority complex basically bred into them as a culture, and they also don't tend to value love, compassion or empathy. In their culture, sex is for pleasure or for breeding. Love is a weakness. Remember that Githyanki are generally a Lawful *Evil* society, as opposed to the Githzerai, who are usually Lawful Neutral, and tend to have a more pleasant disposition than Lae'zel does. Getting Lae'zel to give in to softer emotions will probably take longer than just the first chapter of the game.

Ok i think they did a great job with Lae'zel representing Githyanki culture. Lae'zel herself is not a "special" Githyanki. Their society is really decadent and mercyless. Sex is an enjoyment not much more. Love some strange concept without purpose and when you think about for Gith it makes sense. They lay eggs and caretakers raise young Githyanki. No father or mother involved. Lae'zel represents a young Githyanki with dreams of becoming a Kithrak. Just look how jealous she is when you encounter the Gith Patrol. This is probably the dream of every Githyanki because of their warrior society. You are not allowed to live in the Astal Plane until you killed a Mind Flayer and living in the Astral Plane stops ageing, making you in some sense immortal. My guess is that they are working on it. Often times, Lae'zel comes more across as being insecure, and having high aspirations for herself that MAY end up not getting fullfilled, because the Githyanki are so ruthless and would prefer convenience over reward for dedication (IE they would kill Lae'zel when they find out she's infected, rather than go the extra mile to help her). This might induce a questline where: A: you help her redeem herself in the eyes of the Githyanki, or B: you help her become her own woman, not someone who will do everything to worship Vlaakith's rather toxic philosophy.

Both she and Shadowheart seek death at camp in certain scenes. The game seems to treat their stories (and considerable content) as expendable. Maybe opening her mind very slow would it be hard to do but it's fine if not all the way as the final reward. I do love massive character development personally ... It would be interesting for her to lose a major gith bias she has to even consider or major change to her life since this is her 1st adventure like this. @bradyking42994 жыл бұрын
Really? Jack was a very emotional character that hid behind her tough exterior to keep her trust issues buried, considering everyone and everything in her life basically just used her to their own benefit; or left her. She’s also a criminal with loyalty only to herself when we first meet her. I thought she was a psychopath at first. Lae’zel doesn’t really fit that bill at all for me. We can’t say she’s unemotional or lacking empathy, but she is in a foreign realm with races and a culture that are alien to her; she isn’t obligated to care. She’s also loyal to her queen and it seems like following the laws and customs of her culture are very important to her. Considering all of that and the situation you and her find yourselves in; she seems surprisingly stable for someone equally as alien to me. Maybe Lae’zel does have a softer side but I doubt it’ll be a “I’m just scared of connecting to someone and being used, or worse; you die and I have to live with that” I like both characters, but the only resemblance I see between them is that they both seem to be in a bad mood all the time to the person who can only hear their insults.
@Lyvarious4 жыл бұрын
@@bradyking4299 Hard to say if it's simiar for sure because we're talking about an 'alien' entity by our standards but the way I look at it is the Gith aren't encouraged to explore their emotional spectrum and go through formative experiences that have many parallels with Jack and what she went through. At face value they seem pretty different but, to me at least, it seems like the further you go in exploring both characters, the more common threads you begin to see. Even at her most 'soft', Jack is still kicking your ass and making it clear she is the decision maker in your relationship even if she will listen to your orders in ME2 but by ME3 she doesn't even let you boss her around anymore. Pretty satisfying relationship in a lot of ways, as long as you don't go down the 'booty call' route.
@bradyking42994 жыл бұрын
@@Lyvarious I’d say yeah there may be a few common threads that aren’t very close when you get into specifics, but both are fundamentally different by a long shot. I should say your opinion isn’t outrageous, I really do see those common threads but knowing about DnD lore I just can’t help but disagree. Least until we learn more about Lae’zel who might not be your ordinary Gith (since act 2 and 3 are in the air still) Jack seems way, way more immature in comparison, she can’t control her emotions, she hides her pain/feelings behind a rough exterior. At the end of the day it seems like Jack wants someone but is afraid of the inevitable and getting hurt again. She also has empathy and has some form of morality as seen in ME3. She doesn’t want to just fuck she wants to find someone who can care about her, where she could feel loved and wanted. Lae’zel is probably older than I can guess, and Githyanki in general are nothing alike humans. She’s not hiding her feelings, she has none for you, your companions or the world your standing on. Maybe she has emotions but she (and her race) see Faerun as nothing more than a place to raid and take whatever they want; be it loot or livestock. Knowing about their lore I’d honestly say she shouldn’t have any type of romance where she falls in love with the PC or wants to spend her life with them on a marriage level (least if your not a fellow gith, but even then they don’t really have marriage or families in their culture) . You aren’t of much value to her; maybe as a potential slave for the Githyanki to use on their labors for the rest of eternity, but that’s even doubtful. I trust her only because I know she’d most likely have tried to kill my human PC had we met under any different circumstances, and that trust is only there until I find a crèche. My aim is to give her a chance but I find it highly fucking doubtful she and her people wouldn’t just kill you over cure you, I’m (and the other companions) basically there to aid her to a crèche and then I’d have no other purpose to her. Tbh I could see Lae’zel becoming more friendly or empathetic towards others and the world she is in; softer in that aspect. But if they want to stick to lore as much as possible she shouldn’t. She shouldn’t want anything to do with you after everything gets resolved. Unless we somehow turn her against her own people (it’s technically doable lore-wise, but it’ll be hard in both persuading and dealing with the aftermath of it) I just can’t see her wanting to do anything else but get back to her realm and fight for her queen and people; and care and worry only for herself mostly.

My hub played as a gith and said that she was a LOT more personable, but he didn't make it through the full game yet. I think he moved onto other stuff by now.. I'm probably going to try a gith game as well to see if there are any major changes with the love scene.

Apparently a writer said that Shadowheart is straight but bi-curious. Wyll and Gale are straight, Lae'zel is pansexual, and Astarion is a hedonist that will have sex with anyone. But for this game everyone is playersexual.
@Kyle-hv8ed3 жыл бұрын
@@randomclod385 I remember Astarion saying he had a preference for men or something along those lines. He still takes you as a female though lol

You've got all the other ones, what about Shadowheart? (Note* I'm not a fan of any of them honestly, I'm a lesbian so Wyll, Astarion and Gale are just off limits for me, Minthara is a bundle of nopes and even for a Lolth-devoted drow I couldn't see this actually happening, she'd just kill the heretic singing the praises of this "absolute" creature, and Lae'Zel is um ahem a bit too rough for my tastes but even Shadowheart is grim and somewhat superficially edgy, I just want to do gay things to a sweet, nice girl, none of the current companions do it for me.)
@SpadeDraco3 жыл бұрын
Yeah Shadowheart is basically the only character my main is even vaguely compatible with right now. Everybody else is either genuinely cruel or has an ego the size of the sun. Wyll is alright I guess though I have the opposite issue of you (I'm hopelessly straight) so romancing him wasn't really considered.

Hot take: The female narrator is a judgmental and unreliable narrator because she IS the Tadpole! One of the other times you hear her being extremely biased is when you try to kill the dwarf’s tadpole. The Narrator is not your friend!

There's more acts to follow, Ea only got act 1 so. I doubt someone who's hardcoded/programmed like she and her race is to follow codes/protocols etc, would change over nite. They see themselves as superior to all, and that you in this case of lay, just was the best suited, nothing personal. Will it change in the later acts, most likely

As someone who has rp’d enough characters to romance all of our companions, I’ve gotta say I’m not super interested in any of them. I feel like deep down, none of them can really be trusted. I truly wish the developers would let us romance non-party members. Although maybe I’m biased because I’ve got mega-crushes on Nettie, Alfira, and Kagha.

While I think I see where you're coming from with your criticism of the narrator dialogue, I don't interpret it the same way. When I hear the narrator after your night with Lae'zel, I don't hear the same bias as you. All I hear is exhaustion. Whether your character enjoyed themselves that night or not, it can easily be said that the night was anything but restful. There are number of things that I've done in my life that I thought were worth it but still left me in pain and exhausted afterwards. My inner monologue would sound much like the narrator's voice. Just tired. Being tired and sore doesn't mean you don't also think it was worth it. I just see the narrator's voice as expressing that exhaustion. Whatever your character expected a night with Lae'zel to be like, it was more. Now they know and can better prepare if they decide to go for another round.

Nah, it feels boring. Then she says that she wants the protag, I don't buy it, everything in her behavior until that point shows absolutely no inerest in any kind of contact, especially with non-her species, whom she generally considers lower, as a resul it looks complitely unnatural. It'd fit to make her only interested in relationship with a gith protag, would basically mean she's racsist, but would better fit with her character. A domination kind of relatioship also needs a build-up to be interesting, that's the most fun part actually, when a dominating character teases you into submission with a promise of reward, with her feels more like: "- Fine let's just get it over with, I'll pretend like I want it because you're a protag and that fucking writer leaves me no choice, guess I'll also make it more painful for you since I'm forced to do it anyway..."
@Kyle-hv8ed3 жыл бұрын
I completely disagree with you in every aspect of your analysis on Lae'zel except for the race superiority. I don't want to get into a real long response, but the writing for her romance scene doesn't feel forced. A lawful evil warrior is impressed by your skill in battle and got turned on by it. Before that, she commends you for placing trust in her, she's not dismissive about your safety when it comes to the red dragon. Besides that, during the romance scene, you have the option to dominate her instead. I really wonder how much that will shape the relationship on if you top her or not.
@mehwhatever97263 жыл бұрын
@@Kyle-hv8ed Shame though, I prefer long discussions. Not the romance scene itself is the problem, but the fact that there is completely no buildup to it, maybe it will be added later, but If it won't the whole relationship will just feel like a dev is flipping the switch on and off. She states that your race is highly inferior to giths and that even your looks are disturbing to her, but then suddenly she's like: you wanna fuck? Ok lets fuck... Just ??????... No offense, but the d&d alignment thing I always considered uninteresting and restrictive, there is much more to good character writing than a preset moral system. I wouldn't count on romance scene dialogs having a big impact on other interactions, aside from one or two special dialogs/phrases, like in Divinity 2. There doesn't seem much attention to that detail, but at the same time can't blame them too much since they are restricted by the scale of the story, it really comes down to the structure they use from the beginning.

I didn't care for it. I don't find the pain stuff, hot, and I was put off by the way she spoke to TAV, I get it, she's a proud warrior from a evil culture, but surely even they have to do courting at some level. And she's a huge miss for me.
@Bob-mo4no3 жыл бұрын
At the end talking a about your slight disappointment with the romance scene you need to stop expecting human emotions for a githyanki they are a alien warrior race not human
