I agree with a lot of what you had to share. Views can be low for many reasons IMO. Maybe it’s a boring thumbnail or headline. Or like you said, maybe videos are too short or the intro is bad. Sometimes there might not be enough people interested in a niche because it’s so niched down. Or, a topic or niche is way over saturated. There is nothing new under the sun and competition is fierce. It’s also hard to play the regular upload game when you have a demanding full-time job (not KZbin), a family and other responsibilities. And maybe, it might come down to personality. Many times an audience finds it easier to click with some personalities over others (no pun intended) not that it’s a popularity contest (but it certainly can be). Just some observations I’ve made in my 2+ years of creating content on this platform as well as checking out the competition in my niche. Shorts was also a mistake but it is sure fun making them!

My snag is definitely Watch Time 🙋🏻‍♀️

Watch time can be really deceptive now because even if you hover over a video without watching it, YT counts it as a view. Even if you just hover long enough to read the title it shows up as a view. They only started doing this about a year ago and everyone's watch time went down because of this. I'm not sure why they decided to do this, but it guarantees that your watch time will never be an accurate representation of how long people are watching your video.
