Today is all about workshop organization projects and ideas! Miter saw station, french cleat tool wall, clamp rack, battery storage, tool storage and track saw storage. My garage workshop was in big need of more storage and organization. I built the amazing @MichaelAlm Alm Fab Miter Saw Station, which is a huge upgrade, very functional and full of storage. I also built a french cleat tool wall, small parts storage, a battery and charger station and even storage for my track saws. I work so much more efficiently in my workshop now!

WoW!! Just wow! For someone who has never built a cabinet or drawer before, you did a terrific job. I really do love seeing the younger generation getting involved in a time honored traditional hobby. I think you made a great choice for a miter saw. With the slide bars in front it saves a lot of room, plus you have the reputation of a great Japanese Company behind it. I subscribed based on this first and only video of yours that I have watched. I look forward to more of your content.

This is really awesome. You really made a functional station that is also really nice to look at. I saw Michael Olm's miter station build and after watching yours, I'm pumped to build mine. I got my first double bevel, sliding miter saw this week and I'm going to incorporate many ideas I've gotten from both you and Michael into my build. Thank you for posting this video. Lovely builds! I've been using French cleats for a few years and they are amazing. One thought though: if you make any tool holders for your French cleats that are a bit heavier, you may want to reinforce the wall cleats with screws as well!!

From you first comments, I did not think I would pick up any new ideas, but there were several good ones, like the saw holder. Drawers look like they were made with someone more experienced in cabinet making. Well spaced. As a serious wanna be woodworker, but very experienced KZbin watcher it is fun to watch shop re-do's. Not bad at all is the old saying.

This weekend I'm planning on getting rid of the peg-board wall and replacing it with a French cleats in my shop. Thanks for the tips. I made a battery storage cabinet this summer. The chargers are on the top which slides down when I need to charge a battery. I have Ryobi, Milwaukee and Makita chargers and I find it funny that Makita never thought of adding key holes. I ended up forming some blocks around it and holding it down with paracord. I think I'll check out that Etsy store for the Makita charger holder.

Great job on the mitre saw station. It looks like I have the same mitre saw, and dust collection is less than ideal. How have you liked your setup and if so do you have any tips on setup?
@MakerGray
@MakerGray 5 ай бұрын
The last miter saw I had had zero dust collection, so moving up to this one seems like a dream! It's pretty good but not as great as I expected. I've got mine on my Festool Midi, which is great but I'm wondering if I might need something stronger. I saw that Shop Nation is coming out with a 3D printed DC solution for this saw soon. I'm very interested. Thanks so much!

Love your set up. I’m thinking about buying the new Makita 40v 12” miter saw. Do you have the 12” or 10”? Also, how deep do you need to make the cabinets for that saw you have?

This is awesome - I just got the same saw and am looking to build out a miter station like this. Quick question - did you need an adaptor for your Festool hose (I assume its the 27mm) to hook into the Makita dust collection port? Looking at mine it seems to be a real weird size! Anyhow - looks awesome!
@MakerGray
@MakerGray 5 ай бұрын
I actually bought an adaptor on Etsy but ended up not needing it! My festool hose (27mm) surprisingly fits right into the dust port perfectly. Thanks so much for watching!

This looks really excellent! I particularly like the French cleat wall. What type of plywood are you using there? I’m in the UK and I don’t think we have anything other than birch ply (which has its supply issues and high cost these days) that would be suitable for cabinet building and look as nice as that. Most ply we have is just construction grade.
@MakerGray
@MakerGray 5 ай бұрын
Thank you very much! I did use birch ply, but not baltic (the best stuff). The ply I bought was a step below that but still nice for cabinets. It's easy to find here, although no ply is priced inexpensively anymore. I hope to keep this station for a long time so I didn't mind paying for it. Thanks again!

Your tool holders are really cool but it seems like you could just screw them to the wall rather than using French cleats. I guess I just don't get French cleats.
@MakerGray
@MakerGray 5 ай бұрын
Thanks! French cleats are a stronger mounting system. The load is spread over a larger area. But my favorite part is how adaptable they are. All of the tool holders can move around and reconfigure as I add more. And if I decide I don't want one of the holders, I simply lift it off and there are no screw holes to cover. Hope that helps!
