We extended our stay in Jasper National Park so we could partake in a few more activities. And we're glad we did! With our dog, Carmen in tow, we ventured up the Jasper Skytram, hiked Maligne Canyon, and followed our audio tour to Maligne Lake. You guys can't miss these things when visiting Jasper yourself!

Bear bells also known as dinner bells.

I learned in the U.S. that many people book and then no show if the weather isn’t great. For U.S. National parks there is now a penalty if you no show without cancelling. I doubt there are non-availables to book. I think there are no shows.

It’s nice that you were able to take Carmen with you on the sky lift. The view looks great from you are at.

Great video great view of the lake and waterfall. And glad you went to get some bear spray. That was cute seeing the bears playing. Thank you for the great video and I hope you have a great week. See you soon!

Whistlers was just rebuilt after most of the trees had been killed with pine beetles. It had been closed down for over 2 years.

Although they are marketed as bear bells they actually are not an effective bear deterrent. Making your presence known and bear spray as a last resort

The red chairs are actually placed in areas less popular to entice people to visit.

The provincial and national parks have to have a few campsites available for people who drive through. It’s been like that in Canada for a few years now. 🙂

As we reside fairly close to Jasper, we have been there a few times. (almost our backyard) Jasper tram 3 times including once with our children when they were growing up. Glad you enjoyed it.

That looked like fun. I don’t think my husband would go on the tram. He doesn’t like heights. So I wouldn’t have seen that part. I’m hoping someday we can get an even or something to go exploring.

FYI, Wapiti is pronounced Wap-it-ee and Maligne is pronounced Ma-line.

Actually, Maligne is pronounced "mah-leen" (rhymes with clean), in accordance with the French word origin. Maligne Lake was called Chaba Imne by the Stoney Nakoda First Nation people before Mary Schaffer named it Maligne Lake when she first mapped it; she chose that name due to the already mapped and named Maligne River running into it). I've heard many visitors (including on KZbin) say "mah-line" (as if the word was malign rather than Maligne), but as a local, I can tell you that is not what we consider the correct pronunciation. And of course, neither is "mah-lig-nee". But language is always in flux, and whose to say that the more people use the "mah-line" pronunciation, the greater the likelihood that will be considered acceptable. Po-tay-to, po-tah-to. However you call it, it's a beautiful place.
