I enjoyed your video. One thing I like about your channel is unlike a few others that just sit & talk mostly, you share a lot of video of your area you are visiting or traveling through along with describing it as well. The storm you went through rocking your RV I'm sure was a little nerve-racking. I also like the way you have everything organized under more. The information you provide is very helpful. Stay safe & thanks for sharing.

This reminds me of the time my husband and I pulled into a campground and saw a huge pile of junk near the entrance. This surprised us because this particular place was always well kept. Surprise! A tornado had come through that park the night before and that pile of junk had been somebody's RV! Always get to a safe place if possible when big storms are in the area. Nice video.

I think the scouting out locations is the most important thing when boondocking. What a terrible surprise to get all the way in to a location to find out it won’t work and you have to back all the way out! That would suuuUUUUuuucckkk. Surprised that “Book” was more scared in the storm!
@dontask89795 жыл бұрын
A drone would be great for scouting. A kit for emergencies is ALWAYS a good idea. A backpack you can grab and go. One for both of you, in the truck... Or go without.....🥴 FANTASTIC job catching the lightning on camera.👍

We’ve been in 70+mph winds/rain. We were new and the FB community helped us thru it. If an option, move truck to wind-side to protect RV somewhat. Add additional stabilization under RV. There are several types on the market. You’re right, bring the slides in, if the RV rocks more than a few inches. Disconnect power during an electrical storm, but do so safely. Use leather gloves and a wooden dowel, don’t touch any metal, switches or cables. Have a well-stocked go-bag (72-hour kit) and know how to use everything in it. In some cases your truck or campground wash-house is safer than an RV. I love the vulnerability you show with one another when Jason said, “we’re gonna die”. It’s not wrong to be scared, but it’s dangerous to be immobilized by your fear. Prepare-prepare-prepare and then knowledgeable action, then rest easy. Love you guys.

Thx 4 updates on puppy. I would hate the part about storms. We camped in early90s as a kiddo with my parents . Fortunately storms weren't ever that bad. Now my wife and I are wanting to get a 5th wheel and leave Va, DC for a few weeks at a time when we do buy one. But the thoughts of being trapped in a plywood tin can do give me the uneasiness. Enjoy your work and fun blogs banter back and forth.

We were dry camping at Juniper Campground which is the no-hookup campground at the North Unit of the park. It's about 60 miles from the South Unit where you were. We had no storms at all -- you should have joined us! We were there from 7/10 - 7/17. Had a great time. We did do a day trip to the South Unit and did that same loop. Loved it! We also went on to Glacier after that. Will be looking forward to seeing how your experience compares to ours.

That is a demonstration of a Faraday Cage. Electric travels around, under, over the metal surface as it dissipates. Perfectly safe in the vehicle as long as you're not touching anything metal. Same for a aluminum framed RV. Safe place to be from lightning. The gas/L.P. fridge you have is way, way more dangerous and likely to catch fire..........anytime it is being used.

During tornado weather always seek shelter. But even thunder storms can flip the rv or trees can come down. I don’t Live in fear of them but I do respect them. I have went to a bathhouse during a thunderstorm that had high winds because of trees around the camper. Everyone should have a weather radio just to be safe. You can’t always depend on cell phones warning you.

One of my best emergencies kit tips is to get a small external hard drive that stays in the kit/go bag. Have everything backed up or even better just duplicated from your regular working files that are on your computer me when I go to update my files on my extra back up with I alternate the two back up only hard drives over every couple months Amazingly a 4 or 5 terabyte small external hard drive is not much more than $100bucks. depending on how busy I am on my computer. But I have that fear of loosing everything as in pictures scanned and videos I’ve worked on and the digitized 8mm reels that I am the only family member that has them... what if I’m out and about and not home to get my go bag..... I have a small case that I keep one of two backed external hard drives with industrial Velcro stuck in my car in a spot that someone that breaks into my car wouldn’t find. But not up close to the engine compartment. If there’s no time to scan everything at least take Pictor your scrapbooks and documents. A picture does take up less memory space than a scan. and is faster. But birth certificate and identification and other things of such that might be needed to certify who you are and your education documents should be scanned And all your 800 numbers for credit cards. Along with at least a statement from all financial contracts ought to be on there and with that file it doesn’t hurt to put them on a thumb drive and even wear one when you travel. Never know when it comes in handy. I also add in my absolute favorite video clips of my kids on the thumb drive. You can always buy new clothes supplies and food but you can never replace pictures and one of a kind memorabilia that hurts when it’s gone. No one ever is prepared for everything that could happen but you can do the best you can. It’s worth the time of a two hour movie for your kids so you can put together at least a thumb drive of important family documents. I wish I knew how to get my list of contacts off my phone.... but it’s all linked to my Gmail account so when I change phones.... it’s magically there. Now to get a couple phone sized solar power packs with battery blocks to store that power. Sad that I’m just a few short years how dependent we all are of our phones. I Kant even call very many family members without my phone. And cell phone numbers would be tough to look up in a phone book. Thanks for your videos One of these days I hope to go on the road and live a vagabond life.
@GetawayCouple5 жыл бұрын
