Never knew going to college was a disfellowshiping event....my husband came home drunk as he slipped into doing drugs and alcohol and hit me ONCE. I didn't engage him in the moment but waited for the next day when he was sober, made and setved him his dinner sat down and held his hand and sweetly told him how scared I felt about the event the night before. He claimed he didn't remember hitting me so I smiled looked him in the eyes and told him its ok but I said, the next time you decide to do drugs and get that wasted to either sleep out or sleep in a different room because if he ever touched me like that again I will make sure he NEVER remember anything ever again. I also told him if he comes home and I felt unsafe I will have him escorted out the house by the police. I told him I would give him time to figure his shit out and expect respect and peace in my home. I NEVER went to the elders I was a pioneer and when the time was enough and things didn't change I left him. The end....I was in that religion long enough by that time to know my personal life would remain personal to me and my household. EFF THAT DUMB ASS RELIGION why do people subscribe to this nonsense period

Absolutely inspiring….I also had to flee from my 1st husband after he broke my jaw…and left to move to another state. We are so naive and not taught life skills, and what to look for to set you up for success. But…once you leave the JW, things get so much better ❤ I feel too, that your boys will come back to you, just leave the door open as you are, and the universe will take care of the rest. ❤

What an amazing story. Laura you’re my hero. This is by far the best story I’ve heard. I particularly identify with your comment about god; if there is one, I want to meet with him because I have many questions for him. This reminds me of a comment made by Neal Degrass Tyson “if there is a god, he is either not all powerful or not all good”. You’re an amazing woman and there’s no doubt in my mind that your sons will see the truth one day. In the meantime, keep up the great work you do as a teacher. Sadly, you are not alone & yours is not the only story of how misguided the JW organization really is. I recently realized that they(JW's) will make excuses for any negative light that comes out from the elders, congregations, & the Organization. Sadly, most are in complete denial.
