What most people don't realize is that a guitar tone also has to be accompanied by a great bass tone. You can get away with dual or quad tracking fairly gravelly sounding guitars and as long as the bass tone is there, you're making some good pancakes. Great tutorial Mish

@@heret1c385 I was kinda joking, actually if you learn enough you get to the point where you can identify the areas that causes problems and start to work with them. A huge thing for me is that, compared to him for example, my source tones are worse (worse player, not enough djent, not a great environment with A LOT of noise, low budget interface) and that is tough for a beginner, cause then your mixing skill, which are still immature, needs to compensate a source that needs way more tweaking to sit properly where it needs to be. But still, who knows

"a little bit of grit goes a long way" - couldn't agree more. I love the sound of a clean amp on the edge of breakup, it feels more alive. Also, an amp that's pushed that hard is compressing the signal slightly making the loudness of the playing more consistent. That can be a crutch, but it makes it WAY easier for it to sit in the mix.

Just wondering have you done or if not could you do and video on your rhythmic approach to songs, specifically how you create asymmetric/cross barre line kind of stuff that's so much a part of your sound? Is that even possible as a video like this? Thought I'd ask.
