Thanks! I live in an apartment building, but this was still very interesting to me. Who knows - maybe down the road, I’ll live somewhere with a garage, or someone else will want a mail slot. I remember my grandparents had one, but it was on their house.

When you put mail through the slot, it spreads insulation material all over the place. You can buy a metal sleeve to line the slot.

Great job Jim. Unlike your door, My garage door is not glued together, outside to Styrofoam to inside cardboard panel. So it has gaps between the panels where mail could fall in. Do you have a solution for this problem?

Would installing a 7/8" round Door Viewer be similar to this?

This is a great video, I just don't comprehend the purpose of the initial four drillings into the piece that will be cut out???? Help please...

The initial holes were so I could get the jigsaw into the door to make the cuts. Thanks for watching.

Thank you for this video. Did you have any concerns about leaving the styrofoam core uncovered in between the mail slot cover and the backing?

Not at all but you can always buy an sleeve to put in that place

I actually want mine removed. I hate the mail slot. You get drafts inside the house. Plus I had kids put a stink bomb in my house by yesrs ago... get rid of mailslots‼️
