Deirdre O'Connell as Francis Cobb deserves a goddamn Emmy for this episode alone. Her scene in the bathroom with Oz made me cry so hard I needed to pause the episode and take a minute. My mom was diagnosed with stage 3A breast cancer when I was 14. We had no other family members to look out for us, it was just me and my mom lifting each other up when we needed to lean on someone for strength. She fought it for 10 years. She passed away 9 years ago from cancer complications, peacefully in her sleep. Towards the end of her life she was suffering in a very similar way to Francis, becoming so weak from the treatment and from old age that she needed help to get up if she fell down. But we were always there for each other. So I know exactly how Oz felt when his mom said she didn’t want to suffer anymore.

The whole show. This episode was a lot more scenes with side character call backs. Eve, Squid, Ma, the Gangs, Maroney in more intimate and personal situations. But the build has been perfect. This show is just amazing. The emotion you get, like the hate for Joffery Baratheon or the biggest villain in TV history Skylar White is the closest I have felt to this type of emotional attachment to characters... But with even more duality. Sometimes you hate um sometimes you love um. Same with Oz... Great development and world building. Way more than a Movie could accomplish. Besides the Godfather

I honestly didn’t think it was possible to make the simple act of opening a beer seem like a truly momentous occasion, but holy shit did it work! Oz was so perfect during the Gold Summit that I almost wanted him to run for mayor. For the first time in his business dealings in this show, he was 100% honest with everyone, but what really hooked them is was the fact that if all of these dirty politicians and city officials who hate each other’s guts can work together and control all of Gotham, then why can’t they.

Essentially, when it gets really bad, it causes the person to experience paranoia and hallucinations in their neurological decline. Not only will they lose their memory, but they will see things that aren't there as well as smell things and hear things which alter their behavior and sanity. In his the case of Oz's Ma, I think it's completely understandable that she would want to go out on her terms. It's a terrifying illness.

The crowbar has multiple themes of significance in Batman mythos, but earlier in the episode, Sal broke into Oz’s place with a crowbar. Sophia did the same thing. Also, I love the surrogate father/daughter relationship blooming between Sophia and Sal. Both filling a hole in each of their respective lives. She never had a paternal figure who gave a shit about her and Sal while a hardened crime-lord, is also grieving parent.

Penguin the union boss... When he had the cigar he truly was Penguin from comics. There were multiple one on one performances in this episode that were just amazing... Oz and ma, Vic and Squid, Oz and Vic, Sophia and Eve, Maroney and Sophia... Best ensemble, best lead actor, best lead actress, best supporting actor, best supporting actress, best Prosthetics, best score, best scenic design. If they dont win all these categories they have to be nominated and it'll be close. This show is the best of all the best that have come. The Godfather, the Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Law and Order, Golden Girls... Its just extremely satisfying in its density. Highest of quality
