One thing that may be a problem, is the fact coaches might not teach traditional post defense anymore. The last time you had to worry about that would be Zach Randolph and mark gasol. So there is a chance Zach Edey might cook real well because of simply the nba not being equipped to defend a pure post scorer

We now have seen him dominate legit NBA centers in the games he has played. Guys like Walker Kesler, Nicola Vucevic, Myles Turner, etc. Edey has made these guys look silly at times and his Kareem-esq sky-hook if he can consistently knock that shot down can be unguardable. When his other teammates make use of Edey in the paint as we saw against the Pacers, he can be a legit big man. We just have to see how he handles the double teams and if he can make the right decisions when under pressure.

I felt like I was alone when I was praising the Grizz for drafting Edey. I compare it to Derrick Henry slipping to the 2nd Rd in the NFL draft! GMs/scouts/analysts trying to be so smart that they overthink the obvious. We all knew Edey would be the biggest person in the NBA, we all watched him dominate while running up & down the college floor for 38-40 mins without laboring, we all watched him drag Purdue to the title game while getting triple teamed every night, but we still all sat there and said "no way this will work in the NBA when all he's being asked to do is rebound and set screens while being single covered and the 5th option on a team with Ja, JJJ, & Bane 🤷‍♂

The NBA is too quick to determine what an 18 year old is going to look like in 5 years. They're also too quick to jump on the bus for the "new thing". If you have a post player that can shoot 55%, that's as good analytically as a 37% three point shooter. Let some of these guys develop, let them play. My two favorite NBA players, Duncan and Ginobili would have been looked at as suspect in today's NBA because they were so old when they got to the Association. I had hoped the Spurs would draft Edey, but the Grizzlies got him instead.

Bro what is a plotter you’re saying this word with zero explanation
@getlikecoop

I thought that most people knew it, my bad. Per the dictionary - a person who walks doggedly and slowly with heavy steps. "I am more of a plodder than a hiker" - a person who works in a slow and persevering but uninspired manner. "he's a cautious plodder"

@@getlikecoop appreciate the definition but honestly I only watched half of his game against the pacers he played great offensively against Myles turner but it was definitely in a very slow back down manner every time

He is the average 90s Center.. Rik Smits would be a problem in today's NBA

Nah. His size and agility is not average in any Era. There have been many big man drafted with his size but alot of them have not had the touch around the rim or the killer instinct that he seems to have.

The Baby Hook is BACK. I love it. However Griiz can count on Morant being injured this season . Dude just can't stay healthy.

i might be a little biased but Edey didnt show half as much promise as Kel'el Ware. If things continue as they are now, K-dub will run away with ROTY and it aint gonna be even close. Not to mention his perfect fit for the Heat, he was just what the doctor ordered. We could trade Jimmy for a decent point guard and we are set for the next 10 years

Ja Morant will go the way of Derrick Rose. Playing hi octane injury riddled acrobatics. It will start with knee injuries then carry on from there.
