The thing is, even if we are aware that cheating is bad, we still don't know the actual consequences until it's actually done. After watching this video I made my confession. I cheated on my GF this past week. The next day I was dealing with the guilt, and I was planning into hiding it. But looking for advice videos, I found this. I called her right away, we talked. I don't know what's going on, but I felt good doing the right thing telling her right away. I'm not proud, I'm suffering seeing her so sad and down. She told me this: "I want to hate you, but I can't, because I love you more and I know you're not a bad person" that was soul crushing. My advice, it's not being a week but hear me out. If you're planning on doing it, tell your partner, call them right away, ask for help, thell them you're having this thoughts and need their help. It's going to be hard, but not as hard as watch them feel betrayed, you don't want the person that you love feeling sad, heartbroken, and destroyed.

I think woman are very intuitive, being cheated on is by far one of the worst things I've ever felt. Although, nothing in comparison to losing a loved one (passing away) I find strength in reminding myself that I've faced "real" loss & have adapted to their everyday absence. If someone can cheat on someone they say they love, it's ok to walk away from that & it is miniscule loss if it means finding someone that would never put you in such distraught mental/emotional disillusion.
@bodaciousmos10 жыл бұрын
I love you Matt. I actually thought there is not really a way to excuse cheating . But you are right, it is mistrust and guilt and if he is serious about wanting the woman back, he has to prove it with action not only empty words .it is also true that it can take time before you can build trust that always depends on the person. But what impressed me the most ist the fact that you called him out about his own ego, this cheaters always make it about themselve and thats why they mostly fail to get back to the person. I normally hate cheaters because they just hurt the person said they love but the way you described it kind of release the pain

I've been on both sides of cheating. I do not minimize the pain that being cheated on causes. It's devastating. But I can tell you wholeheartedly that the weight and shame and breaking of your soul that being the guilty party carries is the worst emotional pain a person can carry. You have done the worst to the person you love and want desperately to undo it but you can't. There is absolutely nothing you can do but own it knowing that even telling them is going to rip them apart. If you are truly repentant, it's horrifying knowing that you may never, ever be able to heal the damage done and that you did it. You are guilty. It's a shame you'll carry forever. Inescapable. This is why I often have compassion on people who have fallen in this area. We are so quick to condemn the cheater, but don't consider the absolute misery they will go through and that not if, but when WE hurt someone we would pray for healing and forgiveness.

The fact that you regret it and are emotional (tears) shows that you are remorseful And that you care. This alone is such a good thing and says a lot about your character. Your partner may or may not want to stay with you. And if you did stay together things won't be quite the same, there will be a change but the relationship could still be workable. The thing you know now is that you'll never repeat this behavior again in the future whether it's with your partner or someone else in a future relationship. And though it's a really hard lesson to learn it is valuable. I hope you don't beat yourself up over it and can move forward whatever happens and things will be ok.

It is all lovely and very wise. I agree that one mistake doesn't show a true character, but only repeated ones do. HOWEVER, if she forgives him, he will lose slight respect for her. He will now know that if she can forgive THAT, he will sure get away with smaller things or worse, that same thing again. He might not acknowledge it, or really wouldn't make the same mistake again and truly mean it, but he will always think that he means a lot to her and feel more significant than her principles. I wish Matthew would've asked him how would he feel if he was cheated on, and would he forgive?! Personally I think the only reason this woman is even talking to him is because they have a child together. I think clearly she already had low self-esteem if she went out with him while he had a drinking problem. I'm sure there are many more amazing men for her and she shouldn't take him back. As for him - good stuff about life improvements. I think if she doesn't take him back, it will be a better lesson for him and the next woman he goes out with will be truly treated right.

AnastasiaOva I feel like you may have warped view of what forgiveness is, forgiveness doesn't mean for a second that you suddenly condone the negative actions someone has chosen against you, if the woman decides to forgive this man that doesn't mean she condones him cheating on her, on the contrary!!! forgiveness means accepting that person for who they are, and who they choose to be, you may not condone who they are or who they choose to be, but you 100% accept them for who they are and have chosen to be. People are afraid to forgive because they think that means condoning the negative choices people make, it takes strength to forgive a human for what they have done to you. If she forgives him then I think that's a good thing in my opinion. She's going through a process of healing which can only happen from a place of acceptance of of what is. Forgive people not because they deserve forgiveness, forgive because you deserve peace. 😉

I feel bad because i technically cheated twice. But this was before we had a conversation about it, I apologized, I cried, I told the whole truth! I prayed. I’m seeking therapy. I have never cheated before. It was sexting and flirting with the same person twice between the span of less than 2 months. Our relationship was hard. His parents hated me, I was stressed with finals. He was stressed with finals. Things seem so bland and I felt like the relationship was doomed. I had a relapse of guilt because after feeling bad, I still had that person in my social circle even though I stopped talking to them. I didn’t do anything with them after the two incidents but I decided to block them. I still feel awful, I did whatever I could to not hide anything. I don’t want to be a bad person. Our relationship was ok, but during college it got bad. He forgives me , and he still loves me because he knows my genuine feelings and personality. I just don’t want to be seen as a bad person 😢 Am I a bad person?

"Gentleman" ... no sorry, gentlemen don't cheat. Matthew handles this with grace as always though. I'd NEVER take back a cheater myself though, even if he was the father of my child. I find cheating absolutely disgusting and disgraceful. I'd never be able to look at a man the same again. I'd lose all respect for him.

+Queen of Carrot Flowers: my ex husband cheated on me with someone over the internet but I took him back and forgave him. a relationship is based on trust and love. If there is no trust there is no love. If your husband tells you he didn't cheat or he won't do it again you have to trust that he is telling you the truth otherwise the relationship will most likely fail and there is no love deep down. For example, (another example) this morning actually I saw a message from a girl to my fiancee and I asked him about it and he said they're just friends. So I told him I trust you that your telling me the truth because a relationship is about trust. So I put my trust in him. I love him so much and I want to trust him and have faith in the relationship.

I really wish all these cheating people would have the decency to look at the person they cheated on and say it was a bad choice, when you utter the words mistake, you slap that person in the face over and over because the actual word mistake gives you the cop out that you weren’t responsible for what you did, try looking them in the eye and saying I purposely made a bad choice and I’m asking for your forgiveness

The fact that he made all of these decisions over an extended period of time (choosing to cheat, cheating, hiding it from her for months, having a kid with her) proves that it wasn't just a quick "lapse in judgement" (not that that would excuse it). There is no way of trusting someone who hurts you on that level. Even the way he first describes it, as he "hurt her feelings." Bruh... you forget her birthday - that's hurting her feelings. You don't have time to see her at all over the weekend because you're "hanging with the boys" - that's hurting her feelings. You tell her that her favorite dress clashes with her purse - that's hurting her feelings. He broke the most fundamental truth of their relationship, shattered the trust in a way that can never be fixed, and he describes it as he "hurt her feelings." Yes, people can change and become a better person, but in this relationship, there is no way you will EVER have that same trust in the future that you once had. Any sense of insecurity she may have ever had, any fear in the back of her mind, he just proved to her that she was completely in the right to be paranoid about that, and she will now NEVER be able to completely silence those trust issues again, certainly not with you and probably not even with her next partner. If he wants to change and be the kind of person who doesn't do that and have a successful relationship with someone else in the future, that's on him and his life. But don't ever give a second chance to someone who betrays the very foundation of your trust like that. Because that kind of trust can never be rebuilt. She needs to leave him for good, move on, and be open and honest with the next guy she gets into a relationship with about her trust issues because of what she went through.

I cheated on my gf with my ex that cheated on me so bad that she ended up having a baby with the guy. I hate my ex with a passion I really do. I can’t believe I was so dumb to let a good feeling ruin a home I had with my gf I feel so bad I truly do love my gf it was just bad thoughts that got me thinking that she will do the same. Every relationship I got cheated in but this time I did it. I know both sides of it now and they are not great. I was the problem not her. I was just so insecure didn’t communicate when I thought she didn’t love me and afraid of letting my self love a person that loved me so much. It was like it was to good to be true. I would get mad at my gf thinking why does she drag me along by getting upset with me saying she wants to work it out then doesn’t but I stop stressing about it bc it was that she was trying. All the emotions she’s going through. I’m the type of person to love you until you cut it off. Now she hit me with the it’s time to better ourselves and focus on our careers and get our shit together. She is saying maybe we were put in each others lives to help build up who we are. That’s how she feels now but if we meet again in the future its god telling us it was meant to be. I wish the best for her I truly do. I told her the things I’m doing to become a better person bc we both now I’m a good person. Cheating is something I don’t want to be known as bc deep inside I know that’s not me. It’s only been 1 day since all that but this video made me open my eyes even more. It’s time to show and put in the work so others or hopefully she can see it but most importantly I see it.

Damn, I WISH my husband was willing to discuss all this! He cheated on me-- had an affair with another woman for over a year! The other woman tracked ME down and told me everything. But my husband WILL NOT admit he cheated. He refuses to even discus the subject at all. If I try, he goes silent, turns over and pretends to sleep. If I keep trying to talk about it, he just gets up and leaves the house. But he seriously WON'T talk about it. I never got an apology (how can you apologize for what you've done, when you won't even admit you did it?!). It would be such a release to hear him admit it. The only reason I need to hear him admit it, is so I can get an apology and start talking about how to prevent it from happening again. I don't need him to admit it so I can be sure-- I'm already sure! I have pictures of them together, Valentine cards between them, text messages, plus her testimony. With all that other proof, I know she's not lying. When I try to show him the evidence, he just jumps up and leaves the house. He won't look at it or acknowledge it. It would be so nice to hear "I'm sorry I hurt you". Or to have him sit and talk with me about what was missing from the marriage to cause it and how we can make sure its not missing anymore and it never happens again... But he just won't discuss it. I REALLY wanna leave, because I just can't stand the silence anymore...

Wait so he cheated on her, hide it from her, got her pregnant and while doing so she’s unaware of being cheated on (otherwise it’s clear she most likely wouldn’t of got pregnant by you) so she unknowingly wasted her pregnancy on you... and since you didn’t give her the choice to stay with you or not because she’s unaware of what’s going on you kinda forced her in to having a child with you. Sorry that I’m not sorry but good on her for moving on and ditching this guy. He didn’t care about her and had no problem cheating on her and not telling her. I’m very afraid of meeting someone like this guy and having my life tied to them.

+lily portillo: From my side of it as I have been cheated on a few times. The worst one was when I was married and he had some internet relationships. I can tell you the worst part of it all was when the first time it happened only a few weeks after we got married and the last time he was seeing her over the internet and calling her international for a year and I never knew about it. But I believe that a relationship is based on trust. Without trust there is no love. So once he came clean the first time and told me about it I said I was very upset but I believe in trust and forgiveness. I have to forgive him for cheating and trust that he won't do it again and have faith in the relationship. The last time he divorced me shortly after that. Also recently, I have been engaged and there were messages to a girl on text from my fiancee but nothing sexual or anything like that and I asked him about it and he said they're just friends so I said ok I'm trusting you that your telling me the truth cause a relationship is about trust. So I trust you. Cheating does hurt but in the end if you really love your partner and want things to work then you work together to make things work as a couple and pull through the hardships in your relationship. A marriage is not easy. You really have to work at it as a couple. Some people think marriage is easy and boy are they in for a rude awakening. The first year it is the easiest but after the first year it takes work to stay together and make things work as a couple.

I am in this guy's situation. I have a relationship with a lady with whom I have never had any good moment outside the bedroom. She would cheat deliberately and defend the act. She would insult me every time I found out. I lost trust in her so badly even though I feel attracted to her and think she can still be a better person. She is also bitter for no reasons. I went on to flirt with other women as a result of this behavior to get relief from the stress I was having as a result of her behavior. I dont love the girls I flirt with including having sex but I feel very guilty that I did not move on but chose to flirt with other girls for casual sex. Mathew. I have a partner who cheated on me and I can’t get past this . I have this horrible thoughts of what he did in my head everyday. I fake being happy, I love him but I’m still hurt. It has been a year and I’m still struggling with this. Is it better to just quit and move on even though I still love him but can’t forgive him? We are due to get married next year and the only thing keeping me on this relationship is the fact that the wedding is paid for, he has send all invites out and I hate to make him feel embarrassed by having to cancel this because we are no longer together…. The problem here is that I have changed. I’m no longer the woman I used to be. I hate that I can’t love him the way I did before he betrayed me. I have turn cold, biter, etc. I’m no longer that sweet cheerful happy go lucky girl he once met. I’m also afraid to walk out on him if he was indeed my soulmate. I know I will never love anyone the way I loved him. I feel like this time my walls have been build out of metal and I don’t think anyone will be able to bring them down… I have tried to work on us but is draining me….

Ridiculous to consider marrying a person who cheated on you. You need to move on. Everything you’ve written down says you know this already. Find someone honest, faithful and loving. He has shown he is none of these things by his actions. You deserve someone who loves and respects you. Do not worry about him being embarrassed. He brought that on himself. That’s his problem to deal with. This is your life. Think about yourself. You come first. You will be able to and will love someone else and it will be even more with someone who is honest, faithful and loving. Love is a two way thing and only works if both give 100%. You will never fully trust him from now on and who wants to live half a life. You will never have peace of mind. Placing your future happiness in the arms of a cheater is a risk you don’t have to take. You are settling and for something that’s not worth it. Be brave! It means starting afresh but it will be worth it. The right person will allow you to bring down your walls. Only you can do that and you will when the time is right. Take care.

And for that, I will HATE HIM with the fire of a thousand suns, forever! There's nothing he can do to change that. Period. I'm just not capable of loving him, the way I could love a loyal man.
