Hey congratulations for having your dream fulfilled. i have a confusion -in quora some x students say really harsh truth like it's a trap.Your professor holds you even when your phd thesis is almost complete to do his work done by you,teaching students,write his project proposal,copy check,even their personal work.They can't tolerate you enjoying or chilling and even comment on your personal life.They treat you like their slave.After all his work done by you they told you like you are incompetent to do your phd as there is no growth.sometimes it is 8years..even in brochure it says 3-8years.I wanted a phd from iit but these things are horrifying.this are for old iits. can you please tell me what's the truth?Is a situation like this still there?

There's always negativity in every sphere around us, but it's on us how we can deal with it & it's better to do some research before joining any professor or lab so that you don't suffer. I can't say it's easy or tough.. If you are aware of the subject or topics to be interviewed.. U can crack it. Also, depends on the interviewer, if he or she is interested to take a candidate or not. So, not only interview, the works u have done before or ur basic knowledge is also tested. Written test will also be there in most depts

Hey, ma'am! I have this chance to do a Direct PhD in CS dept at both IISc and IIT Bombay. But I'm not sure which one would be a smarter move, considering I want to become an assistant professor at an IIT/IISc eventually. Also, I'm thinking of doing a postdoc at a top-notch US university like MIT, Stanford, Caltech, or CMU after finishing my Direct PhD so will "IIT tag" carry more weight than IISc abroad (although I am more inclined towards the later), any thoughts? IIT or IISc, both are good, and both have value, only u have to be sure of, under whom you will do ur Ph.D, I mean the supervisor is impt and on what you are going to work/your area of research. I have made a video on that, check that out on my channel it might be helpful for you. A good supervisor will decide your career progress. If you join IIT, the tag will definitely help u, it will have an impact on your post-doctoral achievements, but IISc will provide you with core knowledge of ways of handling problems. IITs are good or well known for their programs in engineering and technology, whereas IISc is known for its programs in the basic and applied sciences, physics, chemistry, and biology. Both institutions also have good computer science, mathematics, and management departments. Ultimately, the best choice will depend on your research interests, the supervisor working on it and the resources available in the institute. So decide after looking into these factors.

Yes.. Doing PhD from iit is a bit tougher than any other clg or university.. It takes from time and also takes much effort for getting the degree.. My experience was ok OK.. It gets frustrating at times. But if you really want to do.. U have to overcome everything , dedication is required.. Definitely kar paoge.

For getting admission into IIT or IIM u need to clear certain entrance examinations, like for getting into IIT, you need to clear JEE for getting admission in btech courses, n for msc/Mtech u need to qualify GATE. for MBA studies from an IIM u need to qualify CAT exam or some other clgs also consider your GMAT/MAT exam score. You have to do some research what you want to do.
