It’s time for 60 Minutes to do an update! JOBY is getting close to type certification!

Burt Rutan said...if at least 80% of people aren't telling you you're crazy, then you're not trying hard enough!...(or words to that effect). . . I am so excited to see these creatures finally take to the air. Well done!

Archer 12 rotors will have better 1 to 2 failures safety factor advantage. It also will make history, catching up fast, with endorsements from investors and partner suppliers. ARK, Boeing, Stellantis. Just like Joby has Toyota's backing.

I wonder how air traffic control would keep up with this. Consider NYC's yellow cab congestion and now imagine that in three rather than two dimensions.
@jacobcorcho25182 жыл бұрын
Would need a separate traffic control specifically for it
@jebise11262 жыл бұрын
no need to worry. if it ever works it wont be many as it wont be or ordinary people as it will still be too expensive

Don't worry, when the FAA is done regulating every aspect of these machines, only the rich will be able to afford one.

The current ATC system evolved from antiquated systems of radar and voice radio comm. Today with GPS +computers, it is not inconceivable that the advent of air taxis will bring about a similar revolution in ATC. There is no reason why these cannot be controlled 99+% automatically, with human intervention happening for that last

no passengers means he didnt do it yet... it can still fail. 4 passengers is not small weight
@RWBHere Жыл бұрын
It likely only means that he didn't have full FAA certification to fly it with passengers at the time the video was made..

Until batteries get lighter and about 10 times more powerful, it's just a fantasy
@jebise11262 жыл бұрын
your statement contradicts it self... if they get lighter and 10 more powerful than they are more than 10 more powerful per weight because they are already lighter

How many years does it take to certify a brand new concept as a commercial aircraft? 5-10 years? How long does it take to re-certify the same aircraft with batteries that are more energy dense? Months, if that. All technology is moved forward by working towards a future that doesn't exist yet.

At least this 'fantasy' flies and has a range of more than 150 miles. Some 'fantasies' can fly for further than this one. Other 'fantasies' go into space. You've watched this video on yet another 'fantasy'. You might even travel around in a 'fantasy' with wheels. How many other everyday things are fantasies to you?

EVTOL's won't revolutionize air travel, they'll probably make it worse. You still need to abide by FAA/ATC regulations, and the FAA will probably double down and make things worse for everyone.

@juliochavez992910 ай бұрын
A standard helicopter makes 2 much noise Joby doesn't Booking a helicopter takes time and it's not that cheap Joby wants to lower down prices by mass production and creating access to users with Uber like features
