Is it just me or does anyone else feel like when they rescue a horse, train them, work with them, and just spend time with them in general, its feels like the impact they make on you is bigger then anything else could ever be, because you can look back and realize how far you and them came together

He’s coming along great! I’m working with a rescue mare who is the polar opposite. No personal space, lazy as hell. She’s getting better, we’ve had her for roughly a month and we’ve almost cantered so far. I’m doing groundwork for a month or so until she will listen and focus on me. For the first month I let her settle in and ride her to get a feel for her. She has a bad habit of kicking out if she’s mad or doesn’t like something which got dangerous after her fosters didn’t correct it.

You two have come so far and you have inspired me to continue working with my OTTB that has made me want to rip the hair out of my head lol. After all his testing with me, I became very unmotivated to work with him and it was always a pain for me to be with him. Now he’s so so so much better with his training and I truly feel like we’ve made so much progress. Thank you!

At first I thought I was going to find this video to be too long to watch completely, but I loved every minute of it, and by the end couldn't wait to see how he would be :) Your horsemanship and patience is fantastic, and the timelapses are great to see how much time it takes to get a nervous horse to become more relaxed. Your horsey comments are great too, very recognisable! xD Loved watching Geronimo turn from a nervous, stubborn toddler to a horse that's actually really willing to work, with a cheeky personality. Could see definitely in the first part of the video the physical change he was going through as well. Around the middle it was great to see him think, rather than react immediately, about what you were asking of him. I was also wondering when you were going to adress him fidgeting around the mounting block, really glad to see you did that *applause* It was amazing to see his trot change under saddle, he actually has a really nice gait. Also, Riley is super cute, the very gentle way she brushes him at some point in the video really melted my heart. It is good to remember at times that you first need a very solid base, and the importance of taking these teeny tiny steps in our eyes because for the horse they really a quite big, before you can start refining, and this video shows that perfectly. Yes, saying your horse has become your friend is SUPER CHEESY but that doesn't make it any less true :) I know this is a long comment, but this is a long video so I felt entitled to it xD Subbed cuz I wanna see how you and Geronimo are doing in the future!

He was as feral as any mustang I’ve seen watching makeover videos. Your patience and your understanding of him are so amazing. Any idea of his genetic background? I could see (perhaps) both a little bit of thoroughbred and Arabian in him, along with paint genes. My first horse had one blue eye, so I’m very partial to horses like Geronimo. If he was neglected the first years of his life, I hope that the better nutrition you’ve introduced has made up for any physical problems that may have caused him. I shudder to think what might’ve happened to him, had you not taken him on.

That’s amazing! You’ve done a phenomenal job with him! I’m breaking or training or whatever you’d like to call it lol a Buckskin Pinto QH pony(14.1 Hands) who I am actually going to ride for the first time this weekend, She was quite a challenge I’ve had her for 8 months now and she’s made amazing progress she has an abusive past(we think from the way she behaves and she has 5 missing teeth vet thinks someone ripped out her teeth with a bit as well as her terrible fear of bits soooo Hackamore it is!😅) and a very nervous horse she still is but only off property and if she sees unknown people/Horses. It’s amazing how smart they are and they are all so talented in there own ways it’s so unique. Congratulations with Geronimo!!! He looks amazing!!! You two have come soooo far! You guys look amazing! I just bought an 8 year old Appendix Quarter Horse mare a couple months ago and named her Geronimo (but I call her Minno for short)! She is broke to ride, is soft and light on the ground and in saddle, and has great ground manners, but she gets nervous, skittish and pushy with new things and new places. There are a lot of things we have to work through but this video has definitely inspired me to work with her more! There have been times working with my Geronimo where I have actually cried(and I'm not a big crier) because I felt devastated and didn't know if I'd be able to work through something. But there is always something that makes me want to try again and work through the problems! Thank you so much for this video it is very inspiring!!💛

You’re doing great with him..when talking about him you look like you are slightly doubting yourself...DONT you’re doing fabulous..I see so many kids you’re age getting into horse training and taking it on themselves with out expert help around them...I know everyone scatters when a camera comes out..but even if you are alone which you aren’t if you’re mom is there.. you are doing something that makes me proud of the next generation of trainers because in my car rear training has changed..it’s improved in leaps and bounds..thanks to ppl like monty Roberts..heck even I’ve done a class with him...very lucky but there’s plenty of ppl doing great things in natural horsemanship...good for you..I’m riding 41 years and a trainer of young and messed up horses for 30 of those years...since I was 16 yrs...
