No, they do not follow the exact order, and some steps they may skip, such as pet info. Confirming income is usually one of the first steps because they want to know if you can afford the apartment. Property management companies may be more thorough than individual owners and less flexible.

No, they can go in any order and may skips some of the steps such as pet info. Proof of income is usually at the top of the list, and property management companies may be more thorough than do-it-yourself landlords.

What's a good credit score to rent or be qualify for an apartment?

It is up to the landlord or property manager, but generally over 600-620 is good. If you have bad credit, the big question is why. If your credit is bad due to unpaid Medical Bills, you may get away with having a lower credit score because many people understand the situation. However, if credit is bad because you don't pay your monthly bills on time, such as cell phone bills, then that could be a bigger problem.

So thought he apartment management we got a pre-approval. She told me they're going to send things to compliance. Does this mean we got the apartment or?

It sounds like you will get final approval after compliance. Compliance sounds like they are going to confirm your employment with your employer, check rental history, and confirm credit etc. I would not assume that you are approved until you hear from them. Give them a call if you have not heard back.

A warrant may show up on a background check. I say "may" because it depends on how a background check is pulled. If a warrant is from another state, it may not appear on a background check. If a warrant is from the state you currently live in, it should appear on the background check. Good luck.

What to do if you don't have rent history from a major apartment or company. I've always used Craigslist and had private landlords and alot of apartments won't count them! It's the only thing holding me back. What should i do?

It seems strange that they will not count a private landlord unless you were not on the lease. As you probably know, you generally need 2 years of rental history when applying for a rental property. It shouldn't matter if you rented from an individual or a complex as long as you can prove residency. An apartment complex usually has a form that they send to your past landlords that asks if you lived at the property, rent rate, ever late, left in good standing, etc. The first step is to find out how they are trying to reach your old landlords and prove your rental history. Is the new apartment having trouble reaching your old landlords? Is it a form, phone call, etc? Once you know this information, try reaching your old landlords if possible to let them know they are going to be contacted and how. Another option is to show a record of receipts, checks, bank record of your rental payment history. You could include this with a rental application if you know a past landlord is hard to contact. If you keep running into this situation, private landlords are generally easier to work with, but it would be best to figure out the real issue. There are to many people renting from private landlords for apartment complexes not to not count them. Going forward, ask your current landlord for a letter of recommendation if possible when moving. You can use this with rental applications in the future. Good luck.
