I crashed once going down a hill when something got into my front wheel and I went OTB at some 50km/h. My left clavicle became a V shape, and I lost a lot of skin on my right elbow and a palm-sized patch of scalp. I was _lucky as bloody shite_ that I didn't break my skull open without a helmet, though I got so concussed I don't remember anything before reaching the hospital on the ambulance. Lesson learned.

Yep I was just riding yesterday practicing some tricks whilst I was practicing my pedal hit the floor and sent my forwards hitting my you know them bits on the top tube also the back of my other leg hit my pedals ripping a tendon and bruised another and I'm now 11 I started riding when I was 4 years old and I think that's my worst injury besides grazing my whole left side of my body. Plus if got nukeproof neutron evo pedals with little spikes.

Still recovering from a crash a week ago.Went over the bars and got my worse shinner ever in the same day. I got lucky I didn’t get hurt worse, not in as good shape as you so it wasn’t fun and still isn’t,very sore still.. You scared me at 6:15 when you went down on the slippy part but was kinda funny since you were ok. Shout out to Blake for being a good mate too..Get back out there,be careful.👍✌️

When I was 12 I had a quick release snap and went face first into the concrete woke up on the way to the hospital and then in the hospital had to have surgery to fix my nose and reattach my lip . After I healed up I got back on a bike, a new one and continued to progress, ride and eventually found mountain biking ( 1989 ) and started riding BMX again. Had a lot of near misses but just keep trucking along

Dealing with injury and getting back on the bike is a test of character! I end up doing something crazy during that period like buy an extra bike I don't need on a credit card or get on a bike too soon and reinjure. Glad you are on the mend! Shout out to Blake for giving you a hand!

I something called a terrible triad a few weeks back. Broke my radial head off my elbow, dislocated it and tore all the ligaments attempting a big jump and stuffing it right up. A long long road to recovery, been through some dark days lately. Great to see a video oh this subject, cheers me up and reminds me there’s light at the end of the tunnel! Thanks mate!

had a road bike accident from a race last quarter last year (yes, road bike, but please be gentle...). had surgery on my face, titanium plates put on my skull. i was bed-ridden for two weeks, and cleared to do walks after. now i'm running again and slowly going back to the bike. i will say, though, that i still have tremors whenever i ride my bike, whether on the road or on trails. i guess the trauma from the accident is still there. but i am happy to watch this video. makes me want to ride again and makes me want to overcome the bad memory from my accident. and cheers Neil on your recovery. you are an inspiration. :)

I have torn the ACL on both knees, pealed back the cartilage in my left knee (that f***king hurt), plenty of scar tissue surgically removed from the knees, and my right meniscus pieced back together like a puzzle. I am still rehabbing from my last surgery and finally back on a bike. I joke with my orthopedic surgeon that I have bought his lake house. Injuries take time to heal and it's a lot of pain and work to get them back. Good to see you are up and riding again.

A broken fibula is what actually got me into mountain biking. I couldn't run and still had a bit of a limp so I needed to do something to keep from gaining too much weight. First ride was a 2 mile loop in my neighborhood which had me almost puking. I kept pushing myself and a bit over a year later now I forget that I even broke it. Glad to see you back up and riding

Glad to see you back on the bike, a wk ago I also lost my front wheel & got slammed to the ground & knocked out, have a severe concussion & am just taking it easy. Best thing to do is get back on the bike asap but ease back into it & get your form & conditioning back. Crashing is part of the sport & at 56 & 20 yrs riding I've had my share but still riding strong. Stay safe!

Post surgery rides can be super demoralising with how hard they are and how much stamina you end up losing. I broke my shoulder blade after going OTB and needed it plating and screwing back together. It was a month before I could even sit on a turbo for long enough to get a workout in, then nearly 6 months before I could manage anything more stressful than a road ride on smooth tarmac (Neil will know how rare this is in the UK too.) Whilst the turbo stopped me from wanting to cough my lungs up and meant I had some legs, my core strength was ruined for a good while.

Definitely one of my favorite presenters. I got knocked by a car while on my bike, resulted in shattered right ankle. Been in recovery now for about 2 months. Doctor reckons it's going to be about another 2 months before I can walk properly again, and maybe 3 before I can attempt to ride a bike... but getting there slowly ... Good to see you back on the bike again 👍👍

Good to see you back on the bike, Neil! Wish you a great recovery. I too had a similar injury last year, although my surgery was not so intense and my muscle tissue got away way less damaged. What really helped my confidence when getting back on the bike was wearing protective padded shorts with pads on the hips and thighs.

Glad to see riding again Neil. Always enjoy watching your vids. Yes, I too injured myself @5 yrs training for a race in Long Island , NY. It was a trail that I could ride with my eyes closed. I’ve been riding it for @29 yrs. Unfortunately, my front tire slipped on a off-camber descent. “Supermaned” , cartwheeled and landed in left upper neck and shoulder and ended up with misaligned cervical vertebrae’s causing headaches/migraines, eye pressure like it wants to “pop out” which also affects my vision at times and has made my lower vertebrae’s unstable as well. I’m on my 7th chiropractor now and has helped. I have started riding again, mostly Road even though my first passion is MTB and playing different sports that I used to play before. I’ve had Physio but didn’t help much. Hope you recover fully. For me now, it’s all about enjoying the sport and not on how fast I can go. Good luck in your endeavors.

The guys at embn know about my accident, it was a very long process getting my arm back into some type of working condition, it's not 100% and probably never will be but I finally got back to Degla the other week, I did take my time and only done the Red Run, did have a few twinges which I ploughed through but it's a case of I have to take my time as all the metal in my arm won't be bonded properly yet but it was a great day out for me, got the video up on here from that day. Glad you're on the road to recovery and out on the bikes again.

Thanks for this video GMBN and Neil. I just did one of those epic trail rides here in California, The Cannell / Plunge trail in the Southern Sierras a few days ago. Unfortunately I had a nasty spill about 6 miles in and broke my hip. Walked about a mile with the help of my buddies then rode another mile to a campground and waited to be rescued. I have to admit I'm in a lot of pain and a bit down knowing that it'll be months before getting back on my bike. This video made me feel a bit better!
