That was a very careful and detailed way to remodel a vintage kit! A lot of people might not have even attempted this! Good to see that you can restore the original wrap. Looks amazing!

I LOVE vintage drums. It’s a major part of my life and always will be. The kit was owned by one owner. It was a kit that in the eighties he wanted to change the color but didn’t want to go through the trouble of rewrapping it. So he had it painted professionally. It looked like a great job on the painting job. My only regret is that I felt the video was a little too long. Thank you so much for the kind words! I do hope this info helps you!

It was honestly a pretty dank paint job tbh. I would’ve stripped it off as well, but they did a pretty good job.

I’ve always had more appreciation for a vintage drum in it’s original condition. They did do a great professional paint job on it no doubt! But when I found out the original finish was underneath, I had to get it back to the original. So glad I did too!

That wrap is tight Bro, next time wrap the badges with painters tape before sanding that might save the original painted finish! Beautiful job✌🏼

Haha. That part was meant to be funny. It was something I was playing around with and tried it on this video since I was using the sander

He went on a politically incorrect rant......said all the stuff that would normally get you cancelled nowadays. It's the only way to speak your mind now, and keep your channel.

I loved the attention to detail and the love and care you gave that kit to bring it back to life. Side question though, i followed your endorsement steps but now what am i supposed to do with all of these chinchilla's? they are just running around the studio making a mess. would you suggest a new Chinchilla fur hat, or do i wait until they multiply again to make a coat? Thanks.

Taking it off with a razor blade!!! Hats off to your patience!! No heat gun huh? ( Not criticizing or recommending it- I've never stripped paint with a heat gun. It DID make the adhesive removal a lot easier.)
@guytonsdrumcasa81314 жыл бұрын
Leo R. LaBarge thanks Buddy! Yeah, I’ve used heat guns to only remove drum wrap. But what I was aiming to do was to get the original wrap underneath revealed. It was a great paint job but I don’t understand why anyone would want to paint over this gorgeous wrap.
@leor.labarge86254 жыл бұрын
@@guytonsdrumcasa8131 Yup. A heat gun would have messed up the adhseive. I didn't think it all the way through. I've only done one set.

Graffiti remover
@guytonsdrumcasa81314 жыл бұрын
I only used that for the inside of the drums. The painted finish on this kit had a primer, color coat and a lacquer on top so the graffiti remover wouldn’t have done a lot. Plus sometimes the chemical does some weird stuff
