Great content! These videos help me a lot. I had somebody literally tell me I’m “a million times better than I was last time I played him 3 weeks ago.” And I even beat him in 2 out of the 5 matchups.

Love to hear that! Thanks for sharing. What are you doing differently? I'd love to know.

@@primetimepickleball The biggest change is just using the non volley area when the ball is below my waist instead of trying to hit everything fast past them. Leading to more volleys I can win with my good reflexes and quick speed. Before I was hitting them harder from below my waste and getting spiked on a lot. I’m avoiding standing in the middle stage 2 area and mostly playing up on the non volley line or if necessary at the back line. Just avoiding standing in the middle so they can’t shoot at my feet as easy. I’m also using my backhand more from your tutorial. Before I was avoiding my backhand or sending them either in the net or way long. It’s way more fun now because the game has more enjoyable volleys. Thanks again.

Katrina is so good at this! Sometimes I get hit on my face, and other times I just block the ball with my left hand to protect myself 😁 lucky are the ones who have a partner to practice with. I'll watch and study this video again then I'll go practice with my buddy Wall 😁 Thanks so much Jordan!

Are you using a continental grip at all times during this or eastern, etc. Thanks.
@primetimepickleball4 жыл бұрын
When at the net, continental grip is preferred.

I noticed at the beginning when you were hitting with Tyler his feet were more stable and stationary doing this drill and yours were split stepping and hopping a little. When in a shoot out against someone who is as quick if not quicker than you, do you think the split step is necessary to react quicker, or is it better to have a more stable base?
@primetimepickleball4 жыл бұрын
Good question! Anytime you are playing any ball, split stepping is key. Although this doesn’t mean that it has to be as pronounced as mine. As you see Tyler’s split steps did not look exactly like mine, although I think the important thing is to not stay flat footed, and make sure that you are light on the balls of your toes, and that you can make a quick move to change direction if you need to.

Need to be specific with technique, exactly HOW does one hit it lower?
@primetimepickleball4 жыл бұрын
If your opponents are hitting it hard at you from the NVZ, you don’t need much backswing or follow through to just the ball where you need it to go: at their feet. A firm volley angled down at their feet is all you need. You will need to adjust how hard you hit the ball, as the speed of their attack will affect how hard you should hit the ball.

My fear would be putting into the net instead of my opponent’s feet. My instinct is to outlast my opponent in a shoot out.
@primetimepickleball3 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is a natural fear. Although if you are losing lots of the hand battles, you should be trying your best to get that ball down.

Hitting down with a block volley is good advice for a 68-year-old. My problem is I don't want to accept my age.

Since I have your attention I’ve been searching through your videos trying to find the reason why I have to play up at the Net. . people keep telling me I have to move up why can’t I just play from the back. I have a nice drive with my shot and I can put a very consistent spin on the ball but that the net seems like I just exchange violent shots without any finesse.

You'll get more views if you have a summary in text at end so we don't have to watch the entire video each time we come back for a refresher.
