Love the snowboard content. I have been snowboarding for 25 years and I think one crucial aspect to making further progress is to get super solid and comfortable with carving - just plain basic riding, both regular and switch. I think if you can go down a steep icy run both regular and switch and you are still relaxed/smooth on your board and you feel exactly how you have to shift your weight etc to stay in perfect control then all the other moves (spinning on jumps, getting on and off rails with rotation) will become much easier.
@GarrettGinnerКүн бұрын
Appreciate the advice and totally agree! Switch carving is something I definitely have to work on. I can go down just about anything regular and feel pretty comfortable, but switch I’m still iffy on black diamonds and up. Been doing my best to ride switch whenever possible
@milehighac27382 күн бұрын
Bro, I have skateboarded my whole life. I’m starting to snowboard a lot more. The skills transfer so well. You just understand carving and balance better than most.

hey garett, i used to snowboard (semi) professional, and still to this das i‘m snowboarding a lot. trust me , you are in the best time of snowboarding right now, you can progress so much and this is the most fun time in snowboarding :) enjoy it!

Garret the amount of progress you’ve made in such a short time is amazing to see. On the back board 270 think about anti loading. Turn your shoulders right when you pop half the rotation then use your waist to finish it. That’s how I was taught. But the one you did on the pipe was so dialed!!

I think with the skate background you should work more on turning and basic carving than anything else… if you can get to the features confidently you’ll be able to do all those rails with whatever tricks fairly easy. the progress is awesome super cool
@willdykema3 күн бұрын
Especially because it will give you the confidence be on balance on the way on and to go fast enough for the features. Currently you’re making it harder on yourself going slow
@stegut23752 күн бұрын
Fully agree. Get the basics (not on obstacles but with normal riding) fully dialled and the other things will become much easier!

You said it yourself, go a bit faster on the rails. You can just as easy, if not easier keep spinning on the rail and do a full 360 spin.(more like 90 on and 270 spinning on the rail. or 90 on, 180 spinning and 90 out because it's a short rail) It seems more scary at first but it's such a fun trick to do. imo it's easier than the bs 270. Just do the same motion but look under your armpit and relax. Stay low, keep it fluid. You got this !
@ajchambers86123 күн бұрын
the snow boarding looks so sick, you have 100% progressed and you have that rail keep it up!! (slacking on the sweeping content?)
@jman13833 күн бұрын
Yo that second rail your hitting is the battleship rail that i was talking about making for your bump to bar at the house. when you hit those on a snowboard go a little faster then you're comfort level. when you get to the top shift, your weight forward over your front foot, you will stckl the down of it and not launch off the top ❤

If your seshing a single rail like that you should set up a tri pod to just cover the area your shreding to make it look better for certain shots the head cam is dope for siding and filming big lines but set up a tri pod too to give you the cover shot

To be honest, I love watching the progression videos ❤️ it shows the world that everyone learns somehow😎 Any tips on filming some progression videos? I'm 35, 330lbs and picking up skating again👀 it's been 20 yrs since on a board... I also have a problem being on camera 😂😂😂 so any tips? Thanks bud

You had right advice there about the shoulders. Snowboarding is more upper body lower body differences than skateboarding. Like for example fs lipslide to rail on snowboarding feels more like a fs tailslide on transition on skateboard than lipslide. Lower body is more active.

Tuck your knees a little bit after you get that spring off the rail and you’ll have a little extra time to rotate before hitting the ground. Don’t forget too, trying to spin off something that low already adds extra challenge.
