Donna, what a very very intuitive video! Brianna just mentioned this to me and I asked her to share it to me. You really have a talent for instruction and dialog. When she and I began riding Sara park, I tried to demonstrate climbing punisher. Remember this was after not having my bike for a while and an off the wall health concern. So I made an attempt to climb punisher and I cleaned it right off! First time after a couple months! I was rather excited and turned around and did it again! The next week I repeated the attempt perfectly. As for the second part, "double wubble" as the kid group call it, the last several attempts to climb it I've cleaned them too. I find it on approach at the bottom to be slightly left of center going over the first part and then a slight merge to right crossover while going over the second part. The last several times I've gone up that climb. That technique has worked very well for me. One other thing on that climb I find myself doing that seems to come naturally is standing up while finishing that climb which I don't do very often. Again, excellent video, information and talent making it. And many huge kudos on the physical effort, that was amazing!

Donna, Nice video. I've always believed if you never try you fail. But if you do try and fail, you are a winner just for trying. And then come back later and succeed. You are awesome!

That's how I tend to look at things as well. Doesn't always quiet the voices inside. I will push myself outside my comfort zone and "try" but I'm not always nice to myself during the process, that's what I want to work on. To show myself the same kind of grace and kindness that I give to others during their struggles or obstacles, if that makes sense. And...you're awesome 🙌🏼

Donna, thank you for this video. You hit home with me, cause that’s exactly I have been doing on some of my rides. Just riding for about a year and a half, and not consistently. I will take your lesson here and plan on successful riding and not failing on some sections. Thank you so much, and this applies to us beginners.

Glad you found it helpful. It's ok to fail, that's what makes success feel that much sweeter, when it happens. Riding bikes for the win!

great video! hit home about the mental aspect of it. i struggle with going down hills and cornering. Ive fallen many times and i always have it in the back of my head that i will fall when defending.

They say slow and steady progress is the best when dealing with mental blocks. Starting small and going slow, giving yourself grace, can help. You're not alone, i'm right t/here with ya!

Know that you'll make it. But dont be afraid to fail.

Agree...It's often good to fall because then we won't fear it.
@RCRGIRL3 жыл бұрын
both of those are so true! I'm always weighing that risk vs reward. Sometimes the falls/fails aren't that bad but....my brain thinks of the ones that are and that I don't want to be injured and off the bike. LOL 😅

So timely, Donna. I'm just about to head out to tackle a few hills with rock obstacle at Three Peaks that I struggle to ride consistently (or at all). Now I am officially inspired! You're the best!

Hey Jess, how'd it go? Three Peaks is such an amazing place to work on different skills and techniques, so many options. How are the temps up there?
@jesst9983 жыл бұрын
@@RCRGIRL not too badly-I tackled one but struggled with the other. The temps are rough this week-in the 30s. I rode yesterday, but plan to head down to St. George on Friday. But the trails at 3 Peaks are generally ridable all winter-sand is packed down nicely!

Awesome video Donna. Love the discussion of the mental side of it. I’m still at a mental block with the backside of punisher after crashing HARD on it back in May. Time for a follow me drone😁
@RCRGIRL3 жыл бұрын
It's crazy how mental it is...especially if you've crashed on a particular section. That's a rocky jagged section, hopefully you didn't get too banged up 😬 I've thought about the drones (actually have one, you have to fly it though), could be fun. Battery life is a factor. That and it'd have to be a small/light one, can't be adding too much weight to myself, I'm already dying out there hahaha.

This is the best video you have made, you gave me some insight on the trails sections. Also I have been trying to trail ride here Phoenix more on South Mountain trail up on Pima Canyon Dirt Road. Going up was good but coming down it was a bit too much, most of it knocked some of neck down to my shoulders back and my still sore after 2 weeks.
@RCRGIRL3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the awesome feedback. I enjoyed making it and doing the actual riding/filming for it so it’s a win win. Always good to get out a practice and focus on techniques rather than speed and time.
@RCRGIRL3 жыл бұрын
SoMo is a great trail system to work on progression. Pick and choose your sections. Work on specific things and try to remember it all doesn’t just come easy. I’m still a head case sometimes but that’s what I try to remember to tell myself in those moments. Hope your neck and back are better meow. I can relate (big time) to those types of issues, it can be frustrating when the body decides to “fall apart” lol.

Hi Donna, I’ve seen your vids where your just killing it on National Trail or up in Sedona...this trail seems easy compared to those that are 2 years ago, was this vid made before those and just recently posted?
@RCRGIRL3 жыл бұрын
Hey Scott, it was made recently. Just honing in some skills and trying to improve slow speed and endurance on hills. I’ve got some videos coming soon where I’m riding darker blue and black trails. Trying to get into shape for the more grueling rides and those short punchy technical climbs that always seem to gas me out.

@@RCRGIRL Thanks Donna, it’s probably steeper than it looks. I’ll have to bring the bike and try it next time I take the boat to Lake Havasu. 😀 Looking forward to those next videos!

Great video is this hill near the "Friendly Fair" trail ? May be out there in a month and want to give it a try. thanks! BTW I recently found a channel you might appreciate" Roxy's Ride and Inspire", she has dozens of these type of videos....cheers!

Hey Ray, this is right across the road from Friendly Fair. You'll see the two stone pillars on the Friendly side, look across the road and boom, it's right there. :) I think I've seen someone named Roxy on Facebook post up some videos, probably same lady. She's skilled on a bike that's for sure. Hope you make it out on the trails when you're here!
