I have it and I don’t hear anything in my head ever, but I love reading. It’s hard to put in to words how it works, but I guess I internalize the words? Dreaming is totally different for me, and I don’t know the specifics of it. I have really vivid dreams.

The Uber drivers experience with calling 911 is similar to mine. I had someone try to break into my house and when I called 911 while the person was still in the act they said “what do you expect me to do if I don’t know what he looks like” and I said “how do you expect me to look without opening my door?? As someone with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Conner would know he had something wrong with him medically lol. I constantly feel ill and it doesn’t go away, only get worse flare ups. BUT he could just have hypermobility syndrome which has lots of similarities. But EDS is a disease that creates the wrong connective tissue so it effects every organ.

Ehlers-Danlos syndrome has more than two types. Hypermobility EDS is the most common and Vascular EDS is the rarest and often the most life threatening. vEDS is the only type that has genetic testing available, it is very hard to diagnose EDS more generally. People can also experience hypermobility for other reasons, like hypermobility syndrome. While a lot of people describe EDS and hypermobility more generally as benign, many people experience chronic pain, fatigue, and other health complications. I don’t think it’s a very binary experience. I was diagnosed with hypermobility syndrome, not EDS or hEDS (bc I have no proven family history and a shit rheumatologist) but hypermobility syndrome and EDS share many overlapping traits. Due to joint hyper mobility, I now have progressive, severe scoliosis and I am a candidate for spinal fusion surgery. My hypermobility wasn’t even recognized for years, until I saw a scoliosis specialist who encouraged me to see a geneticist. I am now avoiding surgery by wearing a brace, a type that is not insured in the US. I don’t think what I’m experiencing is life threatening, but it’s certainly life altering. There’s just a really big range of experiences with EDS and hypermobility, so I figured to provide some clarification bc it’s not just two types and it’s not just painful/unpainful.
