as crocheted clothing has become more trendy, i would just like to remind everyone that crochet is a highly technical skill that can only be done by hand. most people who can make things like patchwork cardigans have been practicing and honing that skill for years (like the op says they have). to ask someone to spend at least a dozen hours (probably more) making a custom piece of clothing to your measurements for less than a couple hundred dollars is fucking insane. but because crochet is seen as a 'relaxing hobby' and fast fashion has warped our expectations in such a drastic way, people feel entitled to items that are clearly worth hundreds of dollars for as much as you might spend at a pacsun. absolutely the fuck not the asshole.

Thank you so much for this. I've only been crocheting since July and already people are asking about commissions- not really realizing that it can take dozens and dozens of hours to make the piece they're requesting. Thankfully everyone in my life has been chill once I explain it, but people really be out there thinking I'm just pulling shawls and blankets out of my ass.

Yep, when she said the price (that she told the friend) I was like “that sounds reasonable.” I’m not a crocheter but I commissioned a cardigan once and paid $250. My measurements, my color choices, their time! Worth it

Thank you! Also keep this in mind with sewing and quilting! To a lot of people it's just a blanket, to other crafters it dozens of hours of technical labor! I have saved so many afghans and quilts from thrift shops just because I can't walk past all the hours someone poured into their work just sitting on the shelf 😂

I think you can tell which 1 was obviously funner. Idk why a lot of people in USA act like their better than Mexico even they don't know anything about the culture. as someone who's been very overweight and quite thin at different points in my adult life, I would never DREAM of commenting on another person's body. Ever. When I was bigger, I was terrified of anyone commenting on my body because I was convinced that everyone noticed my size and thought I was gross (obviously irrational as I never thought of other people's size, other than constantly feeling the biggest in the room and worrying about comments on my own body, but I guess ED brain is irrational). When I was smaller, I STILL thought way, because I had no concept of my actual size (again, ED brain). I'm not at my heaviest now but definitely plus size, and I have a much better idea of what I really look like vs what I feel like, but I remember so vividly feeling the same way even when I was almost at an unhealthy low weight. You never know what's going on in someone's life, whether they've gained or lost weight due to an ED, cancer, depression, stress, etc etc etc.

The first story you read the title of reminds me of a story on AITA where OP was tired of their coworker stealing food from them(which they told the person many time to not steal their food). Their coworker was proud Muslim so they put pork in their sandwich thinking the coworker won't eat it and they could eat it that day. But the coworker ate it and halfway realized it had pork and started yelling at OP and reported them. Like if you have restrictions on what you can eat, don't be surprised when you steal food and it's not to your standards
@inmyworldkindagirl

Same thing happened to my friend. He had a Muslim coworker who would always come over and take food (that he bought) from his plate in the cafeteria. He told her politely to stop and she got offended, said he was selfish, and always gave him stink eye after that. I think muslims have a strong sense of community, but when you move to another country, you can't assume that other ppl share your values. Like, make it make sense.

The one of the skinny woman getting bullied by a plus size coworker, it's retaliation. The chunky woman was bullied and is now bullying skinny women. It's not right. As a plus size woman, it doesn't matter what anyone has ever said to you. You always show that you're a better person by never stooping down to their level. I used to be like that and tell skinny girls to "eat a burger" and I realized that is bullying just as much as what was said to me. The skinny woman is not the asshole.

It saddens me that the others in her story said only calling someone bigger is insulting. Like she didn’t like being called skinny and found it insulting but nobody cared.. but the second she said something back she’s seen as bad. As someone who’s pretty thin and has been my whole life due to things I can’t control.. being called skeletal, told to eat something and even called anorexic can really hurt a person and give them insecurities just like insulting bigger people can.. (As someone who’s been told things like that forever, trust me) To say that is “not as bad” just because bigger people get made fun of more often is just not fair at all and so invalidating to your feelings..

Abso-fucking-lutely. I've been overweight my whole life, and I used to be the "skinny bitches should eat a sandwich" type of person. It's genuinely just as toxic. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I feel like the bully is thinking, "Well, I know this girl's thinking/saying horrible things about me and my weight, since she's really skinny and especially since we work at a cupcake shop, so I'll just get out in front of her." She thinks she's taking power away from this new skinny girl who she assumes will be horrible to her, but all she's doing is antagonizing and being exactly like all the people who have ever been dicks about her appearance.
@inmyworldkindagirl
@inmyworldkindagirl 2 жыл бұрын
Exactly. How is being called too fat different from being called too skinny? Some ppl have high metabolisms, EDs, have medication side effects, etc. that make it so they cannot possibly gain more weight even if they eat a lot. There's just as much stigma around ppl who are so skinny you can see every bone as there is for overweight ppl. You just see more fat ppl in America than skinny ones, so it's more common to hear fatphobic remarks than antiskinny ones. And that coworker calling her "slim" is not a compliment. It's a slight because she is jealous of her. She's quite literally putting her down to make herself feel better about being overweight. How bout just don't comment on ppl's bodies, period. Especially when you just met them. That coworker was incredibly rude and entitled, and she deserved it nothing more and nothing less than what she got. Sincerely, one of those "toothpicks."

Calling someone toothpick, slim and too skinny IS offensive to someone who doesn’t want to be that skinny! I’m underweight and can’t gain and I hate it so much. People tell me to “go eat a cheeseburger” all the time. Why is that ok to say but if I told someone to “lay off the cheeseburgers” I would be a terrible person. Neither is ok! Here's my take on the "slim v chunky" tw: ed As someone who was always very skinny as a child, you get called out on you weight constantly. I've been told "are you starving yourself", "you'd be so pretty if you weren't so skinny", "eat a sandwich", "your skin and bones, it freaks me out", and so much more like . mind you I did not have an eating disorder and I was a healthy weight. Anytime I've brought up people shaming my body like that I've been told it's a compliment or it's not as bad as being shamed for being fat. I am now overweight as an adult and have been body shamed for that. To me it's the same. It's not okay to talk about people's body's negatively at any weight

My mom taught me about periods when I was 4 years old. It is not hard to learn about these things. The only difficulty I ever had was when I had to buy pads for my mom and the old-fashioned pharmacist thought I was pranking him. Compleeeetely disagree on the one where the skinny girl gets bullied. Yes, fatphobia is ostensibly the worst of the weight shaming options, but not by far enough that bullying someone for being thin is incomparable. Regardless of how society views weight, interpersonally it is SO damaging to be bullied for it. And it’s very lofty to suggest taking the high road but that’s just respectability politics and let’s be very real for a minute, bullies only get defeated on their own turf and you don’t owe ANYONE the other cheek. I’m glad she retaliated in kind, fuck that other girl

@@humanure0 yeah I think AITA is having a bad influence on my view on men… So many stories I’ve read of husbands and boyfriends who are straight up disrespectful, lazy or manipulative. I tried telling myself not all men are like that but then I remember my own experiences and it only gets worse. Meanwhile most of the women in my life have only ever been great and that’s why I’ve always gravitated more towards making female friends rather than befriending men. SO glad Sarah brought up that Sophie is probably a narcissist. Narcissists will use their presence in your life as a bargaining chip, hiding from their partners as punishment. They will also get jealous of their partners' relationships with other people. The guy's mom in case #2 is also almost certainly a narcissist...speaking anecdotally as a guy who has dealt with that. Sounds like his mom uses her explosive rage to get what she wants, and she has conditioned him to avoid that explosive rage at all costs.

So for the annulment you have 3 days, and I know this because of a hilarious interaction with the judge that did my courthouse wedding with me and my husband. Literally as soon as we were married he added "and you have 3 days to annul with no consequences". It's still a joke with my husband and I as a way to lighten the mood when one of us is frustrated- "God you are SO lucky it's been over 3 days!"

A friend once posted a picture of something that was knitted on my fbook page and I said how cute it was, they told me I should make it, I said unfortunately it was knit and I crocheted. She and an additional friend that I had meet through her reamed me and said I should just be able to make it from the picture, that was true creativity and it didn't matter if it was a picture and not a pattern... I love this episode alot, there was just one thing that didnt sit right with me. Which was the weight thing. As someone who is severely underweight and suffers from a very hard and complicated eating disorder called Arfid, that story stuck with me. All my life ive been called “thin” or “a stick” or what have you, and it is genuinely hurtful. I dont want to be skinny. I hate how i look, when i look in the mirror i see a skeleton. Im unhealthy, i lost a big chunk of my hair last year due to not eating, and overall it has effected my muscles and bones, im frail and my body always hurts. The person who was telling their story could very well be in the same shoes as me and we wouldnt know. And it is just as hurtful to have your weight be pointed out to you if even if youre underweight and not overweight. It leads to alot of health and self image issues all together My biggest trigger is hearing being called thin is a compliment. Because i am slowly dying because my body refuses to consume food like a normal person. Society has painted being physically unwell and literally killing yourself as beauty, and it is terrifying. Being underweight is just as serious as being overweight. And its not being taken as seriously because again, its seen as beautiful. Thats all Thought id share my perspective.

I HAVE ARFID TOO!! sorry for the caps but it’s so rare to find someone else with the ED i have. i’m sure it’s not even a rare disorder to have but nobody just knows about it yet. which of course makes it so hard to find treatment. i just want you to know that i feel you. 100%. i have borderline osteoporosis due to this cursed disorder. i’ve grown up all my life being told that i should eat more, or that i look like a model or some shit. Now, i don’t love being told that i’m underweight and should eat a sandwich or whatever, but i would absolutely rather that then when i’m complimented on being skinny. i HATE more than anything, the fact that the way that i look is unhealthy, is glossed over and considered desirable by people. it’s so damaging being told that people wish they looked like me. makes me doubt whether i should be actively trying to better myself and my physical health. i can’t even imagine how much more harmful that kind of remark is to someone with a body image based eating disorder. having already thought that they need to look thinner, and then being told that they look like a model or something. our society is so fucked.

From the other side of things, comments about being skinny can be just as awful as those about being fat. The difference is people recognize it as insulting when the person is fat and don't when they are skinny. I had a point where I was literally unable to eat solid food due to problems with my esophagus. It was torture even being around food and 100x worse when people made comments about how I should eat a burger. I would have given anything to eat a burger and could not. We do a lot of socializing around food and couldn't participate because it was so difficult. I imagine it is similarly emotionally difficult for people with eating disorders or other medical conditions.

Hey y'all to answer the annulment question! It's different from a divorce bc a divorce legally ends a legal marriage whereas an annulment is voiding a marriage on the basis that it was illegal and should have never happened. What that means state to state might be different but its usually things like having been under the influence at the time of marriage, only getting married due to being tricked/lied to about who the spouse is, someone not being of legal age, incest etc. And this has to be legally proven for the marriage to be annulled. So if someone cheats or decides they want different things, they qualify for a divorce but not annulment.

im way too proud of this but I was in a movie theater once, and this guy in front of me would NOT stop talking. So as I'm watching this movie, being periodically pulled out of it and seething with anger, thinking of what I can say that isnt just 'hey can you STFU' and being super agro...I landed on possibly the most passive aggressive but turns out, most effective solution. The guy was sitting just in front to the left of me, so there was a perfect space in between the seats for me to just....stretch my leg out and land my boot directly on his shoulder. This of course startled and confused him...I continued to watch the movie and when he finally turned around to ask what I was doing I said 'oh, do you not like that?' He said 'no not really, what are you doing???' to which I replied 'well, i figured since you decided to talk through the whole movie that I could also just do what I wanted.' And i've been chasing that high ever since. That was that, i think he was pretty embarrassed and definitely shut up for the rest of the film XD At the end of the movie his buddy apologized to ME and I just said it was fine and we kind of laughed and brushed it off. So even if ITA i have zero regrets.

The only reply from OP in the period one is her saying "Lol, honestly he's a great guy when I'm not on my period" but at the end of the day, if your partner isn't great to you when you're feeling like garbage (ESPECIALLY if they're someone who doesn't have to deal with periods), then they aren't great at all. My boyfriend literally reminds me to take Midol because he doesn't like when I'm in pain from cramps, will bring me the bottle of Midol in the morning so I don't have to get out of bed, and always asks if I need him to stop and get me something on the way home from work if I'm feeling bad. I wonder how OP's boyfriend would act if OP got a stomach bug or something. Seems like he'd just lock her in the bathroom.

Honestly I feel rlly bad for the husband in that story too. His mom is actually abusive if he has to worry that anything he does that goes against her will make her ostracize him from the entire family. Like that’s straight up emotional abuse, I’d hate to see what she was like when he was younger. Abuse is hard to escape from so it makes sense why he would keep trying to appease her and just let her do what she wants.

idk if you guys want an answer lol but annulment requirements are tough, it has to be like Sarah said cheating or something drastic, but it can also be because the marriage was predicated on a lie by one person (identify theft, undisclosed financial or legal problems, etc. also, in an annulment you don't usually get a settlement, but in divorce the legal default is 50/50 split assets.

The actual line from Liar Liar goes: "Mr. Reede, several years ago a friend of mine had a burglar on her roof, a burglar. He fell through the kitchen skylight, landed on a cutting board, on a butchers knife, cutting his leg. The burglar sued my friend, he sued may friend and because of guys like you, HE WON. My friend had to pay the burglar $6,000. Is that justice?"

This episode really reminds me of the earlier episodes like LinkedIn Influencers, Fanfiction, and Craigslist Misconnections… Like making fun of people who they don’t even know yet know so much about them is so funny 😭

I disagree that the cupcake slim girl should have not said anything. Don’t dish out what you can’t take back. Chunky knew that she could pick on slim and not be in the wrong.

41:43 in a similar vein to sarah's go-to insult, in middle school once texted a kid who bullied me with his little clique something along the lines of "your sidekicks act like they love you so much, but in reality nobody would even care if you got hit by a train". needless to say, his mom called our teacher and i got a very scary talking-to. listen, it sounded better in my head

Frankie Muniz actually had a bunch of head injuries so he literally doesn’t remember his childhood/upbringing. Malcom in the middle, agent cody banks, big fat liar, he doesn’t remember any of it. So wild.

@@gumshake689 nope. He said on Steve-o’s podcast that he had a lot of injuries from sports as a kid and then crashes from his racing days resulting in about 9 concussions

My great grandmother would notoriously reuse cards like Sarah but unironically. She would cut out the bottom of the inside where someone had previously signed and just sign it herself again. I've gotten cards with crossed out ages, "happy birthday grandma's" and so much more 😂

I also thought I had shat myself the first time i got my period, so i hid the evidence only to discover an hour later that it had happened again. Told my mom and she was like lol that’s your period

Sarah talking about how she dumped her diva cup into the sink reminded me of when I had to dump my dads pee cup thing ( he was a double leg amputee and restricted into a wheelchair so he couldn't like pee in the toilet) and I went to go empty it. IT NEVER OCCURED TO ME THAT I WAS SUPPOSED TO DUMP IT IN THE TOILET AND NOT THE SINK. I panicked as soon as I realized and yelled to my parents " OH MY GOD IM DUMPING DOWN THE SINK" literally as the last drop came out

Yooo the Sophie and Cassie thing makes so much sense because my best friends partner was so quiet and mousy when they came to visit (they were long distance; us in Australia them in Eastern Europe) and it was so confusing because I always heard such good things. Then over the next year I would frequently get crying phone calls from my darling best friend about their terrible behaviour and it was a fucking TRIP because huh???? i couldn’t believe it was the same person!!! and i am very familiar with the textbook narcissist behaviour of being so charming or reserved but they’re a maniac behind closed doors. It was painful to watch my wonderful friend who is so very sweet and lovely not have a fucking clue what was happening and be so in love
