I saw that people are dressing up to take out their trash nowadays, I can't help but think how awesome it would be to see historic costumers turning up at the supermarket in full period get-ups. Nothing like a hoop skirt to enforce social distancing.

I have dressed like that in public, it is who I am, most give odd stares, but some find it interesting. This last Fall, I went to a tea luncheon for Downton Abby and dressed with a bunch of Ladies in period clothing and went to see the movie.

One of the romance novel series I read has the men always thinking 'oh yay that's real girl under there and not padding! this is EVEN BETTER!' quite regularly when our heroines trip or need helping into carriages, y'know. for plot reasons. :P (Loretta Chase is the author if you like your romance with some excellent research and costuming.)

I always felt positively imperial when I walked down stairs in my houpeland (medieval gown with a full circle body, tho I did it in an ovoid to get the longer train).

oh be careful with the bowing of the bones in that back! that can damage the corset. you want to make sure the gap is parallel even if u have to leave it a bit looser top and bottom.

Ok that is a brilliant thing with your petticoat because I've noticed that all of my hems are going bonkers from wear. A petticoat that's long enough to take the wear! Genius. Love the video, love seeing the layers come together. It's such a simple and beautiful look and so so so effective.

I really like the shirt, its not too lacey, not a fan of super puffy sleeves, those ones are perfect. Buttoning up the front is a must for me due to range of motion issues. The collar works because its not tight against the throat due to asthma.

Thanks for making this! It was really helpful for giving me an idea what garments I’ll need for my own ensemble. I do have one suggestion though. You should be careful to lace your corset evenly, even if that means making it a bit more loose than it can close in parts. While corsets of the time were usually laced all the way shut, it’s better for the corset to have a bit of a gap between the laces than to be in that () shape. Thank you again!

Here I am, walking around in just one petticoat and with no bum-enhancer! The shame! Unfortunately, I lost my hair due to illness. It’s back now, but has only reached an overgrown, spiky mess! I can’t figure out what to do for my Edwardian garb, aka my whole wardrobe, save for maybe buy a wig.😢

I loved seeing all the petticoats! With the drawstring closure, does the drawstring go all the way around the front of the petticoat too? It seemed to be a flat front waistband. The belt really does complete the whole ensemble! Love it!

It's totally flat in the front so there isn't unnecessary bulk. The drawstring just starts at about the side back.

I love the blouse modifications you've made...buttons in the front are very practical, indeed. Is your collar the high neck with points version just turned down rather than buttoned up, or did you create a new collar altogether?

It is a high necked version that I just left open and turned down. It's similar to the WH pattern, but it doesn't have a pointed collar - it's just flat

I didn't do a video on the hat - it is so simple! Just a band of fabric and some faux flowers and ribbons! Each of the other girls made their outfits. They are all so skilled!

The last petticoat I put on is longer and trained, so it is usually what is touching the ground and gets most of the dirt. But...hems just get dirty! It's the reality of this style.
