I own an American style late 18th-century suit (circa 1780) that I had professionally made, using the greatest degree of historical accuracy possible, but without requiring that it be hand-sewn. It's brown wool with a yellow cotton waistcoat, and I wear it with a black tricorn hat. All the pieces are worn exactly as described in this video. It does take a while to get dressed, but not really much more than getting formally dressed in a modern day suit. Though I don't wear it often, it is fun to wear -- and I know I look good based on my wife's behavior towards me when I'm wearing it. If you have roughly $500 lying around and you don't know what to spend it on, I highly recommend acquiring one.
