@JennThePanda It's a technique called "False Cord Screaming", which when done right enables you to scream without straining your actual vocal cords. Basically it requires you to actively relax your vocal cords to an extend where the fleshy overlaps that protect the vocal cords make contact and start distorting the voice. It's a healthy way to scream. Now this is a very brief description, and doing this takes A LOT OF PRACTICE mind you. It sure helps to have a proper education in singing, because professional singers have a feeling for manipulating their body to alter their voice. I recently started taking singing lessons myself, in hopes I one day master false cording...

Always worth to look up Jinjer lyrics, Tati is a very smart writer. And it's a personal song to her, she is pisces. It's about how she's dealing with the duality of her personality. More personal and good songs are “I Speak Astronomy” and “Perennial” Just check it out!

Good you’re reacting to new music and genre. Jinjer comes from Ukraine and they play a blend of different genres, all between metalcore, groove metal and progressive metal. Tatiana the singer is self taught and has been doing this fryscream singing for almost ten years now, I believe. She’s a vocal beast as you can see in the video. The guys in the band are Vlad in drums, Eugene in bass and Roman with the guitar. They are really skilled writing and playing their songs , Tatiana is the one who composes most of their music, she’s really creative and her lyrics are really deep and meaningful. Mostly she sings about her own experiences, the situation in her country or topics in life in general. Please react to their song “Who’s gonna be the one “ live. Here you can watch and hear what she’s capable of. I just give you the link to the song, kzbin.info/www/bejne/i2fVp2innp1gbtU Jinjer has just been playing three concerts in Sweden, they just slayed in every one of them. Saw that you’re a Dutch living in Sweden, then you also should react to Nightwish and the song Ghost love Score live from Wacken open air 2013. Pisces and Ghost Love Score are probably the most reacted metal songs on KZbin right now. And one more thing, the singer in Nightwish is a Dutch living in Sweden as you are, her name is Floor Jansen, amazing singer as well. Cheers

Lovely reaction, thanks. And welcome to the likely inevitable rabbit hole to dive down that is Jinjer. I'd call this a bit of bewildered surprise by you from the looks of it, I suppose. Chances are this is going to bring you a lot of views. So get ready for that, lots of folks enjoy just surfing Jinjer reactions. And you could call it a scream or growl. Some suggested "Who Is Gonna Be The One" live (should be the top result, 4.9m views so far). Great performance, and proves she can really hit those low growls. Buuuuut if you're not ready for a largely growl heavy song like that, or "Words of Wisdom" live (same concert, can tell by her outfit in the thumbnail), and I'm sure someone will mention "Captain Clock" live Resurrection Fest 2018, also heavier as with a few others like "Sit Stay Roll Over" and "Ape." So, if wanting to build to that heavier stuff while exploring this band (on or off camera), I'd recommend a few others, the official video for "I Speak Astronomy" has some growls in the first minute or two, but is all clean after that. Later on, after doing so, if anyone suggests live of "I Speak Astronomy," the Resurrection fest 2018 full concert of them is up doing that one, and has time code links in the description to take you right to that one without maybe spoiling other reactions. And for totally clean vocals there's "Bad Water," and another fairly well balanced one would be "Perennial" or a bit more on the growling side would be "Teacher, Teacher." There's a lot of videos up by them, some newer, as well as older stuff before they became well known here, and I'm sure the usual folks will be along not far behind me on more song recommendations by them. Lyrics wise, this is a tricky one as some sites have "scale armor blaze virgin innocence." It really should be "belies." Tatiana's first language may not be English, but in other songs, she's had me going to look up words sometimes.

When she's growling in the chorus she says "scale armour belies, virgin innocence. One being brings life, another runs for death."
@FalconFlurry
@FalconFlurry 5 жыл бұрын
When it comes to metal growls an screams there are two types of techniques, false-chord and fry. The details of each are too complex to explain here, but you can look them up on KZbin, there's all kinds of tutorials that explain how it's done. It does not hurt your voice if you do it properly, but it takes years and years of training to get the hang of it. Tatiana mainly uses false-chord which is characterized by a deeper, more guttural sound. The alternative fry scream typically has a much higher, more shrill sound. That being said, false-chords can be high and frys can be low, but typically if it sounds like a growl it is false-chord and if it sounds like a scream it is fry. It is also possible to use a blend of both techniques at the same time.

The scream is called a Fry Scream, and is pretty difficult to master. You can look up people trying to teach it , but not a lot of women attempt it which they should as you see. The lyrics are about the Pisces sign (2 fish circling each other) like a yen yang symbol, one of life and one of death eating each other or circling each other. The fact that she can switch between a beautiful voice to a fry sound is a pretty cool example of the symbol on top of the lyrics. Tatiana's was born in March which makes her a Pisces so assuming she has duel meanings with the lyrics about how she feels about her own life and the lyrics. Hope you googled those lyrics. Fun fact, she has a fish in her ear gauge. Love watching the shocked reactions.
@darrellbeam8053

Basically, she squeezes her vocal cords so no air can get to them. Then vibrates the muscles in the back of the throat. Depth of sounds depends on how the mouth chamber is held. By doing this you don’t damage the vocal cords. It’s a technique that takes a long time to learn, even with a coach. Tatiana is self taught.

Singing in metal bands since the age of 15, starting to practice growls at 18 and working on the skill for 4 years before including growls in her performances, and performing with mixed growling and clean vocals for a decade. The last 5 years since they were forced to leave their homes in eastern Ukraine they have practically lived on the road with a grueling performance schedule - 130 shows last year alone.

not sure how she does it but a way to reach the "screaming" without ruining your voice. is picking a tone, addying a "fry" on top of that, get it as high in your throat/nose as possible and add air to it. It'll take a LOT of practice and you'll definitely hurt your voice many times before perfecting it, but if you let your voice rest after that your voice should be fine. But just like singing, everyone has a different voice while screaming so not everyone is gonna sound like this vocalist but everyone can learn it and become good.

The harsh vocals are called Growling, one of the 4 Pitches of Harsh Vox: - Shrieking - Screaming - Growling - Guttering Anyway, there is a misperception that Harsh Vocals don't take any skill to do, but it actually takes YEARS of practicing proper technique in order to nail this vocal style, as it's destructive to the vocal chords when done incorrectly. In fact, employing the duality of Clean and Harsh Vocalwork GREATLY helps vocalists to achieve what I call "Screaming Stamina" (the ability to perform harsh vox for many years without incurring damage), as Clean Singing gives one's vocal chords a rest.

Or.."I did not expect that!"...Eyes popping out at a minimum lol.... Or..totally freaking out, as I saw a vocal coach react like.... She was hilarious! 😁

someone more educated in music, is that tempo a 7/8, like pink floyd's money, but a little faster? with a 4/4 chorus? i'm still learning this stuff...

The chorus where she's screaming/growling: "Scale armor Belies Virgin innocence One being brings life Another runs for death" About the duality of the personality/being of the (zodiac) Pisces.

I saw them live in Amsterdam. She's using "false cords" to produce the growls and not damage her true vocal cords. Mastery is needed.

"Pisces" Step forward and meet a new sunrise A coward is shivering inside Today I'll be a friend of mine Who swallows suffering with smile I drew a different reality With unconditional loyalty Ego hardly can be piqued 'Cause I'm selfless Scale armour belies Virgin innocence One being brings life Another runs for death Scale armour belies Virgin innocence One being brings life Another runs for death No promises I ever give Don't rely on me and I won't deceive The beginning or the end you can't tell When I wave my fin and shake my tail I grew in different normality With unblamable morality Hooks and nets are there for me But I'm skittish Scale armour belies Virgin innocence One being brings life Another runs for death Scale armour belies Virgin innocence One being brings life Another runs for death Neptune's child shivering inside Drowns in the liquid gold Cherished his life to the underworld Meet me flashing when winter cries Pisces swimming through the river All their life against the stream Searching for a hook to catch on and see their sun beam Then suffocate in painful tortures On cutting tables of callous men Under a knife of handsome butchers Emeralds are ripped away Emeralds are ripped away Emeralds are ripped away Emeralds are ripped away

@@portiamojatau1816 Offical live at Wacken in 2013 is generally accepted as best. I'm a Jinjer fan myself, but Floor Jansen is also a metal goddess, just a quite different sort.

A few weeks ago, my sons asks me to watch a live show by Jinger on youtube. He knew well that I hate guttural/growling type singers. The first song I listen to was Who's Gonna Be The One? She starts singing in that devil's voice and I look at my son and said "dude, WTF"? He's say just keep listening. So to appease him, I do. Then she starts singing in a clean voice and it was good. But still, that growling still turned me off. By the end of this song, they break out into a reggae style with the music and she is now back to her clean voice with a raggae/jazzy sound to her singing. Now I'm like this chick has some serious skills. By the time the got to I Speak Astronomy, I was completely sucked in by her talents and how good her band's skills are. I immediately purchased all their music and can't get enough of it.. Now I won't say I love all guttural/growling singers but I do have a new found appreciation for them. I have even started listening to Arch Enemy (both with Angela and Alissa) and must say I am liking them a lot. So Jinger has turned me on to a style of singing I thought I would never like. I will even be seeing them in a few months.
