If you want to be technical about it, the bird on the box wasn't a phoenix but a Ho-o, the Japanese equivalent of the Feng-Huang from China. Arabic or Greek phoenixes are firebirds and usually in bright reds and oranges, but in Asia they're more like a pheasant or peacock and much more colourful.

My dream car in high school (about 4-6th form) was a WWII Jeep! Enameled sterling belt buckle, Arts and Crafts era (1910-ish) Margaret MaKintosh would have worn that! Can't read the marks from here. Archibald Knox for Liberty? That's worth 400 in anyone's money , at a guess. Maybe more; it depends on where it's sold. (might go for $50 locally if you show the marks like you did on the video) (btw- according to KZbin advertising the Glamourous Assistant was bringing up a Toyota car and wool socks!) Japanese cloisonne over brass cigarette box... 1930s-ish? I forget the proper name for the bird, but Phoenix isn't it. The 3-leaf Mon on the back may indicate the original owner or the maker's name. Gingko leaves, btw. Japanese doesn't usually sell for much, but 125-150 ? Toothbrushes? Given the UK's reputation for lousy teeth? About 10. In reality probably 20 million? (they don't trade in the USA) Kruggarand - a full troy ounce of gold. It's been hovering around US$1900/ounce recently and that one's 22k .... Current scrap value to US$2500 depending on collector value? Current scrap it is!

I’m surprised that you think the cloisonné box will bring $300. The market for Japanese items has been depressed in recent years. Chinese antiques are another story!
