As I mentioned yesterday, here is the video about the rig from my playing with the vintage JTM45. Cheers

How would you compare overdrive of JTM45 to Bloomfield?
@dlflash56Ай бұрын
Jimi used a Modified JTM called a JTM 45/100, which used 4X kt66 power tubes, 3X ECC83 preamp tubes, solid state rectifier and produced 80-watts of output power.

Such great tone and even greater playing. You are an inspiration for me in my search for the tone and feel of Jimi Hendrix.

Man you NAILED the Hendrix tone here!! Spot on, sounds amazing 👌

Feel that subtle delay alone with the JTM45 is the sweet spot. Would love for you to make a video using a Les Paul with the JTM45!

Mate they were massive tones… definitely preferred the tones you detailed and that Strat… what a sound it has. Thanks Chris

Great video. Loved the Marshall sound.

That Marshall is pure raw tone, man!!! The best balance in amps, an old visceral/raw tone Marshall and a highly refined hifi sounding two-rock to balance any need or mood in the endless tone chase…. Thanks for the video. Sending sms to the universe to be the fortunate on the pickup giveaway!🤞🏻

Totally lovely! The Topanga really can be a joy. Have you tried the JHS Lucky Cat delay. That’s my current favorite. I like how the tone nob allows you to get the delay sound either “behind” or “in front” of the original sound by either turning the tone down or up. And Yes, would love to see the JTM playing beside its predecessor Bassman. As always, great work. You’ve got a scientific enough thought process to make the granular elements all add up, and your playing is delightful enough that it’s all just so good to listen to.

Great stuff, James. Really looking forward to hearing a comparison between the JTM and your Bassman.

I really thought when you dimed everything it would flub out and sound completely woolly, but it sounded quite good. Excellent playing as always. Cheers James.

Just got to the end of the video and one has to admit that the app at full 10 doesn’t flub out like many amps will. It’s pretty juicy. Also, one note, having both channel volumes at 10 doesn’t really say what it’s supposed to say, without the channels being jumpered, yes? That’s one of the exciting bits of that Bassman/Marshall circuit, the tone shaping involved in blending the two channels together.

That Topanga adds the special sauce!

Hi James, this is fascinating. I just watched your 'everything on 10' video and was thinking, like you, that it sounds messy. If Jimi ever played a '45' he would probably have dialled it cleaner, as you have in this video. It's just more musical that way.

James, I know this is none of my business, but man would I love to know how you’re able to get and find all this amazing gear. I’ve never seen a gear tuber with a rig like yours. You have great taste in gear.

great tone! I love the plexi/JTM sound. I play a Silver Jubilee and even if I really like it, it does not have this magic of a Plexi. But I can play it at home. If you have any suggestions for a plexi which can also be played at home, let me know :).

I run a Surfy Bear reverb tank, the long one(Metal) through the return/send on the back of my Super Lead and it just sounds great. Big in size, but weighs less and much easier to transport than a true Fender Reverb tank (from which it's modeled, sans tubes) and a lot less expensive.

This is how I set my JTM45-esque amp with KT66s for those Hendrix tones! kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqHKdWeFZdaKm6s Not me playing, btw. It's a video from a friend. We share exactly the same settings. And yes, he's a much better player than me!!

Band of gypsies is in D; the recording is flat by many cents, but it’s closer to D than it is to Eb by a mile. Definitely adds loads of mood

Yeah I bought the 100 watt and returned after a few days as I didn't like it. BUT I was playing it through the wrong cab and found it too stiff. I may try again one day if I can

Tone comes from the hands.
@JamesOnGuitar2 ай бұрын
Yeah i agree to some extent but i think it should say Quality of tone comes from the hand. Try getting jimi’s tone from a clean 100 watt sterile amp and it’d be a struggle even for him!
@stanislavmigra9 ай бұрын
I must say, the all on 10 settings remind me of Jimi's sound the most. His sound is not polished or nice, its hairy raspy and all over the place. At least how I hear it in my head.

from my perspective through my gear that sounds nothing like hendrix its more of a country pickin tone
