The amount of empathy 'Good Ren' gets out of me is insane. The look in his eyes as he's trying to convince 'Bad Ren' that he's doing better as he cowers just kills me. And watching Bad Ren tear into him gets me pretty angry sometimes. It's a master class performance for 'Real Ren' to have pulled off both characters in real time like that. Especially when you see Ren in his interviews, and he's one of the most bright-eyed, sweet, and positive people I've ever seen. And then you find out all of the struggles he's been through as well? He's a true talent and inspiration. He deserves all the success that he has coming to him.

Listening to Hi Ren does more for many people than years with a therapist. In this song!!!!? that he has crafted, Ren grabs on to how many people are with their inner voice and the mental turmoil. Then towards the end of the song he lifts us up with hope and turning away from the negative aspects of the inner voice. Then the cream on top is his monologue which shows us how to best learn to live with ourselves and do the "dance". And the cherry on the cream is that we are all the same and have to realise we live a life between heaven and hell which makes us all human

Having PTSD, Depression, Mood Disorder, Rage Issues.... This is damn near a daily conversation for me. For 30 years so far. Then throw in being a musician on top of it all. This song hits on MULTIPLE levels. First time I heard this song, I bawled my eyes out.

I'm almost 52 years old, and this song is so relatable. I haven't had to deal with the mental health quite on the level that he has but I've come awful close to it. Like he said it's a pendulum constantly swinging back and forth. First time I heard this song it hit me like a ton of bricks. It is such a cathartic experience listening to his music.

Love this tune. Thank you for reacting to it! (Again too!) There's always so much to dissect in this video. Every time I watch it there's something else I notice or remember. Just insanely good. Just FYI. It wasn't done in one take. If I remember correctly it was 4 takes. 4 full takes though. Being able to get the up close shots and the wide shots at the same time without seeing the camera operator is impossible after he takes the camera off the tripod. But the audio is taken from one of the takes. So it's definitely him singing and playing. Not just lip syncing. Hence the mic on his gown and his guitar plugged in with a wireless transmitter, to a recording device.

This performance, this "song", this lyrical and psychological masterpiece is making music history. I have watched the original many times and reaction videos to it several dozen times more, and it STILL moves me to tears and goosebumps. I know this inner dialogue, this fight oh so well, suffering from decades filled with severe depression, suicidal thoughts and immense loneliness. Ren has created something monumental, along with all his other amazing tracks and collabs. He is changing the world of music.

If you haven’t researched RENs health issues you definitely should, he had been misdiagnosed and medicated which has caused so many irreparable issues. Having an internal discussion is normal, otherwise all of our actions would not be thought out, and there are times when we have to weigh out our options, but a battle to this level is heartbreaking. Knowing that he was failed by the medical community and the permanent damage the caused is so devastating. Everyone is quick to take medication, I am on medication myself, but those medications all have long term effects, I am definitely not preaching, but I have seen years of memory loss already, when I had a ridiculous memory before. Just everyone be careful, understand that society can Not define normal, just look at our government, if that’s normal, I don’t want to be normal, Love to all❤, Thank you Shae.

Grew up with "Complex PTSD" and the subsequent fall-out. Saw/felt a lot of violence from the age of 3 onwards, almost lost my mother at 6, watched blood be swept down a drain at 9. I don't care much about myself, life is fragile, the body is fragile - there are things worth far more than my safety - black eyes are what integrity was invented for. Sometimes it's hopeless, sometimes it's worthwhile - and sometimes it's both. Despite medication being free in the UK, I've always refused it - I have broken countless bones, once they have even impaled my lung - but the fact remains that the pain exists for a reason. Walking on a broken leg will only make things worse, numbing that pain only encourages long-term effects. I think the same considerations are applicable to mental health - the body keeps score. Sometimes the pain is a sign that something is seriously wrong - we should not ignore it, we should listen to what our bodies and minds are attempting to tell us. There is a problem, and numbing is comfortable but not never a resolution. I am not and will never be normal. But I WILL be okay. I sincerely hope that we all will be - and sorry about replying to this on my "joke account", hard to take someone serious when their persona is someone who never takes anything serious. Thrive.

@@faxenmacher4633 I can only partially relate, early alcohol relate violence left me with PTSD, however that takes very specific triggers, not often triggered, especially since I no longer work in a children’s clothing store. I have had many surgeries, but if I needed to take medication after, I did, never beyond a few days. Pain is definitely an indicator that something is wrong but I also believe that consistent pain will cause depression and anxiety, but I am not a doctor, or on any pain medication. I have also come to understand how long term anxiety, medicated or not, can cause medical conditions such as spastic esophagus and of course heart issues. Learning how to adjust a lifelong thought process or coping mechanism can be difficult, however the contrary can lead to more serious problems. I pray for you, please take care of yourself🙏

Here is some additional information on Ren's story that I gathered from old newspaper interviews, articles, and Ren's livestreams and posts where he discussed his condition. Ren Erin Gill is a British musician/independent artist; born in Wales on March 29, 1990; he eventually moved to Brighton. Ren pursued a career in music from an early age. In 2009, while studying music performance at Bath Spa University, Ren began to experience health issues and was struggling to attend his lectures. In 2010, he was signed by Sony Records and was working on an album when his health deteriorated to the point where he was unable to continue; subsequently, his contract with Sony was dissolved. Ren's illness often kept him in bed for up to 23 hours daily. Ren was initially misdiagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome, which led him to experience psychosis and develop PTSD. It would take seven years before a doctor in Belgium finally correctly diagnosed Ren with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and resulting damage to the brain, organs, joints, and PTSD. Ren eventually underwent stem cell therapy in the United States, which improved his health, but it has not been a cure. Ren is currently in Calgary, Canada for more treatments, including surgeries, and will have to be there for at least six months (Summer of 2023) undergoing IV and other interventions five days a week. Ren recently underwent wisdom tooth removal and cavitation surgery. In addition, his Canadian doctor discovered that Ren also developed a condition called Mast Cell Activation Disorder (MCAD), which has affected the myelin sheath in his brain, his thyroid, adrenals as well as his bones/joints. Now, Ren is receiving additional treatments for this previously undiagnosed condition. Let's keep supporting Ren as he undergoes his treatments. Check out and subscribe to his channel, if you are a content creator, ask your audience to subscribe to Ren. Ren's YT channel has less than 1 million subscribers while his videos have garnered millions and millions of views. Listen to some of his earlier work, like and comment on his performances, and let's lift Ren's spirits. If you are a believer, pray for him. Ren is an artist with something to say to the world, and his work is important in these troubling times. Someone has finally created a Wikipedia page for Ren, so there is additional information available. Here is the link to Ren’s GoFundMe page to raise money for his current treatment. Ren has exceeded his initial goal. However, his goal was very conservative and did not reflect the added costs of unforeseen surgical procedures, and treatment for additional health issues such as MCAD. www.gofundme.com/f/ren-get-better-from-lyme-disease-and-autoimmunity

Yep it's filmed live and you can always tell if a singer is actually singing live by the movement of the throat and the veins on the side of the neck sticking out when they are singing. You can see it with Ren when they show side shots of him doing the yodeling in the beginning of the song (yes I know it's not technically yodeling but that's the best way to describe it lol) And when Ren sings at the end, the part where he starts off, "So cower at the man I've become) when he's singing that vein is popping out. When he stops you'll see it start to fade away.

I've been watching Ren for the last 3-years.. He had me day one, it feels like listening to John Lennon! I've never felt so emotional for 20+ years..

Hi Carly, Love your Ren reactions! I just looked through your Ren playlist, you have quite a lot of them (Yay!); but, I don't see one of my favorites and I am surprised. It is one of the one where he has red suspenders. I am told all the ones where he wears the red suspenders are great! This one is: "The Big Push - I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop". (There is another one similar, but this is the one.) He has great singing, guitar playing and an incredible performance with his band mates during his busking days. Looking forward to you checking it out. I hope you enjoy it as much as I. 🙂❤

Carly Shea, although some random guy on KZbin probably doesn't hold much weight, you should know that you come across as a really genuine and lovely person. Two virtues that are important. You're also beautiful. Im sure you have a lot to be positive about. I hope this didn't come across as too creepy, it wasn't meant to be 😂. Much love from England 👍

I know a few people who are blessed in not having to deal with this internal war. I am like you Carlie I have fought this war daily since the cradle. My faith helps me a lot now, but the battle hasn't been pretty and I have lost a few battles. I am thankful that you are brave enough to talk about this on your channel.

ty for the reaction hanna. i had major depression you can get through it and off the meds i did. i didnt beat it i learned to live with it and realize its all part of me. living a full life is a choice. sometimes it gets hard to make the choice to live possitive but i just do it. this piece resonates very much for me.

Can honestly say that that has been my favourite reaction by anybody. Seeing Carly get excited because she loves it so much and her friend having the normal reaction of what the f , this is amazing and then Carly saying what it means to her, if you struggle with things this song means so much more than it's a good song.

I so enjoyed watching you watching this video again. also your friend as well. imho - in the last rousing sequence where ren is jammin' out and the lights are both flashing, ren is dancing with his demons. in this video, the light with the light shade on it usually stays lit, and the flashing light on the right shows when the demon/satan is present. when ren is jammin', both lights are blazing! ren's made peace in his head?

I think its time for youtube to wake up to reality where suicide and mental health issues are concerned. Its happening daily with kids and adults alike and we have Ren helping people open up about their problems their thoughts about what they are going through. His music is saving lives, MANY PEOPLE ARE LISTENING TO HIS MUSIC BECAUSE THE MESSAGE IS HELPING THEM. KZbin NEED TO HEAR THE PEOPLE TELLING THEM WE NEED THIS WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT THIS TO SAVE LIFES

I am like you, I thought everyone had this intense inner conflict. I literally yell at myself in my head... often. I thought that it was normal. It's awesome to see this thru your friends eyes. Now I understand why it doesn't affect some reactors in the same way.
