Hi Ben, I'm glad to see you enjoying the troopy again. What's nice is catching up with the clean-up and maintenance. For me, there's nothing better than getting the old girl ship shape and ready to go again. I look forward to seeing your videos and can't wait for the next one. Take care and be safe.

I totally agree. Getting some quality time in with the truck to get it in ship shape is a great feeling! Thanks so much John 👍

Hi Ben, all the best with your ongoing maintenance and repairs to your Troopy. I personally have been there in the past when working overseas driving Adventure/Camping Tours between Oslo all the way up via Sweden and Finland to Nordkapp (Norway) and return in 1994 when on the 2nd of 3 Three and a half week tour the old Bedford Coach/Bus dropped a Valve and destroyed a Piston and because we were on a remote back road that we had not seen a car on for over an hour and a half had to continued to driving it to just south of the ArcticCircle where we came across the first place to stop and get help. Life is different when you’re carrying passengers, and before the cell phone was available easily. Anyway, now it’s fun looking back on that time . I was stuck in the town just north of the Arctic Circle after being towed there for a week and the locals looked after me extremely well, while a local coach company carried the passengers and my Tour Manager/Cook on to Nordkapp. After I got a replacement bus/coach, I caught up with the group and continued on back to Oslo . Now back home down under in New Zealand I’m glad to own a modern new 2023 model Troopy and not worry about mechanical issues like I’ve had to in the past.

Wow! What an incredible story! I can’t imagine the added stress of looking after passengers, but I’m so glad the town you found looked after you so well! I’m extremely jealous of your 2023 Troopy haha Cheers 🙌

Hi @@BenStinnett don’t be jealous, enjoy your trip. I found every time I broke down somewhere (life as a mechanic being employed to drive tours you always end up with the old ones) That these times became high points as the year went on. Broken down in the middle of Algeria in the desert and repairing it in the middle of the campsite despite a more experienced mechanic saying it could not be done we had to wait for parts from the UK, I fixed it that night and the next morning we were on our way. Windscreen wipers falling off the bus and then the wiper motor blew up, this did not seem like a bad thing until it started torrential rain for a week! Australian lady came up with the idea of using a bit of string to pull the windscreen wiper blade back-and-forth the windscreen so we could keep driving. My employer at the time told me just to stop keep the passengers entertained until the rain stopped which I felt was when people had paid money to come from all over the world to see Europe . That’s just a bit of a few stories, but they became the parts that are funny now and helped make good friends along the way with different staff and passengers at the time . Too many people stress about breaking down and I learnt not to stress especially after this trip when I was in Sweden and the engine blew up the local kept feeding me snaps to drink and I calm down and relax so much that the bosses phoned me up about something and I’ll just go yeah whatever.

Straightening up the garage right now so I can climb under the wrangler and check everything, luckily it's cool in the central valley this weekend, makes it more comfortable lol.
