I know the EXACT feeling you're talking about. Working on my commercial pilot certificate after nearly 7-10 years of not flying regularly. You start by not feeling confident/questioning yourself. Then it starts to come back to you and it builds your confident. I don't think people truly understand how much studying and training is required to be a competent, proficient aviator!!

Emilie, I am so sorry for your loss, and on top of what has been a very difficult year, my thoughts go out to you. I must say that I am super proud of the attitude that you have regarding your return to the skies. Upgrading to Captain, then having to go back to First Officer is tough, but you know that you had put in all the hard work to get there before, so clearly you have the skills to get there again. I am sure that your airline will have you in the Captains Seat as soon as they can. You are awesome, and following your journey through your KZbin Channel has been awesome so far. All the best as you get your wings back !!

Nothing better than this to help time to pass. I wish you every success. Your personality and humour show through in everything you have posted. We all send you love and hugs! Fantastic news. Well done to you. Great that you’re getting back to work again. Sorry to hear about your grandfather though. My sympathies to you and your family. Sounds like he was a very nice man, loved by all around him. And finally, you’re not a “bad youtuber”. You got laid off work and you made a go at doing something totally different. And your channel was very entertaining. Now you’re busy with work again, and it’s understandable that you took a break from KZbin. The beauty of YouTubing is that you are your own boss and you can record when you want, on your own terms. Best of luck getting back into flying again.

And learning things two times like this, makes a better pilot. Plus, wow: You have got 132,000 fans, yey. The openness and enthusiasm in your channel brought back some good memories when I worked in a short small job in airplanes, which was very cool, working together with pilots and being inspired by this most awesome profession which is so valuable. Congratulations! Sorry you had to go through the loss of your grandfather on top of a furlough! I’ve gone through two furloughs, 9/11, being the longest, a little over a year. I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your Grandfather Emily and understand what you've been going through. Just before COVID hit, I flew back to Montreal to see my father, but he had a stroke just before I arrived and died a week later. It is great to have you back! Life is tough, we all know, and sometimes it hurts so much in a small period of time. There is no common recipe to go through all you have been living on the past year, but as you said just take one day after the other without thinking too much at all the rest. Please consider you have a great community that supports you and we can’t wait to see you again sitting on the captain’s seat! 🤗 you have a lot of energy inside you, just control it and direct it towards your goals. Last but not least you are a professional pilot, I’m sure it is only a matter of going through the re-training again just to get acquainted to control the airliner, and that it is only a matter of time! Keep up the good vibes! Ciao from Italy 🇮🇹

Hi Emilie, We are so happy for you finally getting back in the air. Things were slowly getting better here in Australia until we had a Delta strain Covid break out. Most of Sydney is on lockdown along with sections of Victoria and New South Wales But we will get there.. I live in Queensland and have not been anywhere near a hot spot. Of course most flights in and out of Sydney are stood down but we still have a few regional flights active. Ok, enough life story.. Thank you for sharing your life with us. I lost my wife nearly a year ago during our country wide lockdown, so I was here with her when she passed. ( damn, still with the life story - sorry everyone ) Getting back to work is great for taking our minds off things and the challenge of reaching the level we were at before covid is a great motivator.. As you posted this two weeks ago we hope you are already climbing that great ladder into the sky. Loving the vids so keep them coming...

I found your videos last August when FS2020 came out. First of all, thank you for those videos. They are really informative. And I'm glad to hear that you will be flying in the real skies again! Just remember two things: 1st if you pass by a flower (I'm a flower photographer by hobby) that catches your eye, take a photo of it cause you might not get that chance again. Second, take the time to enjoy those around you, the scenery around you, the sun on you as well as the rain (which brings more flowers!) :-)
