I love my CT 5 lb splitter. Nice to see you using it. That cedar looks like a dream to split. I'm out in northeast PA and lately been splitting alot of ash. It's a challenge lol, but the 5 lber holds it's own. I agree about changing the edge geometry though. It has plenty of untapped potential. Keep the great content coming. Love the vids 👍

I am a sucker for the double bit. What a beauty. Used to split a lot of almond. The cedar looks like a dream. Thanks for sharing

I'm with you on the double Bit man. 2 sharp edges are better than 1! Hey I'm going to wait to ship that head till the drawing on the 12th so I can show the head and announce both winners. And I don't know if it gets any easier than Strait grained cedar.

I got that same head, yet to hang it. What's funny is I started collecting sledgehammers way before axes. Now I have acquired a large collection of axes here is Oregon in a relatively short amount of time including a db black raven..

Did you find the raven "in the wild"?

I’ve done the same thing but man that log must of been full of dirt and put on a hurting on the chain. The line clearing wood I am working on now, I gotta sharpen every tank. I live in the Sierra Nevada, incense cedar is the easiest though I haven’t split aspen. Thanks for the video.

Ya, I I was milling with the Alaskan I'd worry about the dirt and rock. If it was hard rock like gravel then it would be an issue, this stuff is pretty soft. Just a quick fileing and back to new. I found a big aspen up 108 that I want to get before the pass closes. It's close to 2ft I think. One of the biggest I've seen. I heard lodge poll splits easy.

I feel like council has really stepped up there game in the last couple years

Definitely. The heads they make now are the next generation of collectible vintage American axe heads. I'd like to see snow and neally follow suite, maybe true temper and Collins make a comeback also.

@@jeffschroeder9089 I'm not sure that the current owners of GB could get on board with making working axes at a fair price.

Gotta say the double bits are my favorite. Wish my red elm split like that cedar does.

What is the use of the ceader. Burns up quick.
@old_iron_axe_and_tool Жыл бұрын
That's why it's good for kindling, lights and burns fast. The smell is what gets you hooked though.
