Does your Komplete 11 Ultimates hard drive fit the USB cable snuggly on the end that plugs into the Native Instruments drive? I have Komplete 12, and for some reason the end of the USB that plugs into the NI drive doesn't plug in all the way and I almost feel like it may be defective unless someone else tells me theirs does the same thing.

mine connects firmly. but it's not a big deal as long as it connects to your computer, dont worry about it. you only use the drive to install from anyway.

Not only would Komplete 11 make a great addition to your library, this Hard Drive footage makes it an even better video for those of you having problems loading your Data from certain programs like BFD3.

Just stumbled upon your channel. Great stuff, clear and efficient. As a newbie to the virtual instrument world, I feel I will have to watch it all...Quick question: I have a macbook pro 8Gb, 250GB flash storage which is already to the teeth. So I'm going for external to store my libraries. (which I should of done in the first place anyway..) My question is, is it worth getting an external SSD (samsung T3 for example) or will a usb 3.0 WD drive (one fourth of the price) do the job just fine ? (I only have usb3.0 ports in my laptop) I will be streaming libraries like Berlin woodwinds, CSS, and such. Thank you !
@BenoniStudio7 жыл бұрын
With the specs of your computer, I would say a USB 3 drive will (HDD) will do just fine. BUT, if you have the money on hand, a SSD would of course be the best route. If you could add in more ram that would go a long way too.
@s.jamesghee6 жыл бұрын
These companies know most of us are installing these libraries and stuff on separate/external hard-drives. They sell this to where you can run it straight off of the drive we buy from them.
@BenoniStudio6 жыл бұрын
Some companies do, but the HDD in this case is not meant to be used to run the libraries. It's only for installation purposes.

A lot of people that are going to buy native instruments ultimate software suite are going to use it for live applications which means there going to need something portable. But thanks for the price I've been looking for a good drive to stream my sounds off of.

get a usb powered external drive. or install to a HDD/SSD in the laptop. If the laptop only has one internal bay and you are low on space, just install what you need for your live performance.

in 2018 going on 2019 and with KOMPLETE 12 Ultimate out and KONTAKT v6 being released October 1st 2018. It would be best that people get several 1-TB SSD or 2-TB SSD's if you can afford to do so. and use these SSD's "just" for your library. SSD's are much faster as read speeds than any other drives with the exception of M.2 drives, but those are expensive too. If you are connecting to USB-v3.0, then getting a USB-v3.0 hub should be ideal, so you dont take up the only USB-v3.0 slot with just one USB connection. all though, updating your motherboard to the newest most updated motherboard usually have at least 4 USB-v3.0 slots in the I/O ports as standard in 2018 going on 2019. Having a mechanical HDD has lots of moving parts and those drives tend to be shocked if bumped the wrong way, specially if its reading or writing and the plate arms are moving. SSD's are far better option as prices for SSD's are really affordable right now as of Q4 2018 going on 2019 and prices are going to dip even more in 2019 as Samsung is going to release their 4-TB SSD's pretty soon, which will dip prices of the 1 and 2 TB SSD's. Not to mention that SSD's are much lighter in weight so having 4 to 6 SSDs is like carrying a deck of cards. The other reason is, many times people tend to get additional libraries for KONTAKT and having ample space in your 1-TB SSD, will allow you to stick those extra libraries into the same SSD. maintaining your library in the same locations as your official libraries. because you will have ample space left over after installing KOMPLETE v12 Ultimate. Just my take on it :)

Just hit a wall I thought I would share for those considering this package. There is a known bug that the installer is drastically over allocating available memory for installation. i.e. if say you are installing Absynth (2.5GB) it will require much more to actually install it. Your C:/ drive will need at least 100GB of free space to comfortably install this package. A full, all applications-at-once install will require nearly 500GB on your c:/ drive despite your sounds being stored on an alternate drive so be patient and install what you need at first and be prepared to upgrade your system drive if needed. I'm off to make a windows system image. ugh...

okay, I have a question. I'm trying to do this for my bf because he's a Mac guy. The computer has a C drive and a D drive. the C drive is a SSD and and 70gb free space. the D drive is internal and had 998gb free space. I followed your directions, and installed three to test out. For some reason FL Studio isn't grabbing the stuff from the D drive. On the Mac pro tools grabbed it with ease. the PC and FL studio is so frustrating. help!😥😫
@BenoniStudio7 жыл бұрын
You don't point FL Studio to the content drive, you point it to the VST install location which should be on your OS drive, unless you changed that, did you? Native Instruments will automatically install the apps to the OS drive and the VST location should be Program Files > Native Instruments > VSTPlugins there should be a 32 bit and 64 bit folder there. That is assuming you didn't change the VST location to something like Steinberg or VSTplugins, which is fine if you did, just add that location in FL Studio

i have a 2 TB drive that I use for a variety of things, including streaming audio for pro tools. Is it a bad idea to have my komplete 11 content on the same drive?
@BenoniStudio7 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you mean. If you mean it is the hard drive that you RECORD to, then that would not be ideal since the drive would be reading and writing at the same time. In that case it would be better to put it on the OS drive if that is the only option. Best option is to have a dedicated Sample Library/Content drive. Where you DON'T want the libraries to be installed to are to a partition of the OS drive, the drive you record to, a partition of the recording drive. BUT, use what you have, you can always move the libraries later if you need to because performance suffers.

Hello Sir.If I have Komplete 8 and Komplete 12 upgrade do I need to install Komplete 8 in the same path as Komplete 12 upgrade?Thank you in advance
@BenoniStudio5 жыл бұрын
It depends on what you are trying to do. You don't need to install Komplete 8 at all since you have 12. But in general you would want to install to the same path because there is a lot of duplicate content. There's really no reason to install 8 except for the Battery 3 library.

That's fine, you still don't need 8 installed. The 8 serial number is what will allow you to activate 12. Just make sure you have 8 registered to your account and you will be good.

@BenoniStudio7 жыл бұрын
If you have an e-Sata port, then of course. e-SATA uses the same protocol as SATA, just the plug is outside of the computer, while normal SATA ports would be on the motherboard.

This software has been the most excruciating painful experience in my life of installing software! The installer from NI is pure shit. It fails, crashes then I have to fucking manually mount each ISO and install each the hard way. THEN it takes fucking HOURS. Geezus H Christ, NI for the love of God, fix your fucking software installation process! I rather have a simple click installer that actually works and does not take centuries then your fancy schmancy ass GUI POS that fails constantly!
