I got excited at the mention of a podcast! I can relate to building a better relationship with your sister. I'm the oldest, my sister is 7 years younger. We fought A LOT growing up, but around the time she got married+moved, we became friends. She is my best friend and we get together at least once a month. Telling people they’re selfish for not wanting kids is backwards, it’s really more like some people have the self awareness to realize they’re too selfish to have a child (even if it’s just right now). I can totally understand the kid thing. When I was in my early 20’s I wasn’t sure about kids. I definitely knew I was not ready. I have two kids now, but I was 38 and 39 when they were born. I’m now 41 and my husband and I are so in love with them. BUT I waited until I was mature and patient and really wanted them. I’m so so glad I waited and I couldn’t imagine my life without them. But if you decide that’s not what you want I think that is great and there is NOTHING wrong with. It’s absolutely not selfish to really make sure kids are something you want, because they must come first. You are both selfless and are really using wisdom. I think the world of Penny, you are awesome.

I'm so glad you and Salem have a healthy relationship but still make fun of each other. I aspire to have your sense of humor. I don't have the best relationship with my younger sibling either, sometimes we're friendly, sometimes we're not, but I can be hurtful and mean to her, and I now regret that. I sorta relate to you Penny, I used to want children, but not anymore because of the way I acted (whew, chile I was such a monster), and having a baby that will end up like how I was would be a disaster. Plus, I'm not fond of the toddler years either. I might "change my mind" someday, but I DON'T even want to think about kids at the moment rn. I need to work on myself and I want to do a lot of stuff. Salem, you are not a bad person for not wanting children, and you and Kevin should talk this over and do counseling cuz this is a life-changing decision. I wish you and Kevin the happiest and healthiest of marriages. :) Lastly, a person can be complete with or without children. -erf!

The whole conversation about the kids thing with your sister is 100% me and my fiancé right now. Also we get married in September this year so that's exciting! But besides that, the whole kids thing. I want kids, but we're not ready for kids in the slightest. And what annoys me is the fact one family member (whom I have no idea how she's related to me), keeps asking me "when are you gonna get pregnant/you should of had a kid by now, I did at your age/etc something else about having a kid." Me and my fiancé are only 23(me) and he's 24. We're waiting until we feel ready, and definitely waiting until after we get married. Been together for 14 years next Tuesday. I think we could wait another few years before having kids because we don't feel the need to have one yet. Plus we wanna travel more first.

I had kids early, so I pretty much grew up with my kids, it may be the fact that I have kids but it took me almost all of my 20's to figure out who I am. I feel like I'm still figuring it out sometimes, but I'm wanting different for my kids. I want them to live single for while, figure out who they are and enjoy most of their 20's. But there was a perk to having kids young, you have the energy to keep up with them haha!
