Hey, you could/should feature your second channel in your 'Channels' tab so that your subscribers can find your second channel easier (via this channel). In my opinion, your subscribers are most likely subscribed to your personality rather than the type of content you are/were creating. I genuinely think you'd have a huge amount of followers no matter what type of content you decide to deliver. Find something you enjoy, add your personality/twist to it and the views will flood through I'm sure.

Hi there, I never comment on KZbin videos, but I just happened across this and watched it. Four years ago I was sitting in my little apartment in New York overworked and desperate to get out and see the world. I was binge watching travel tip KZbin videos until 2am and you were one of the people that inspired me to do it. In 2018, I booked a one way ticket to Australia and I still live here. Yes the world has changed but peoples passion for travel hasn’t disappeared . Just want to say what you do matters and there are real people on the other side of the world that learn from you! So no matter what you decide to do and what form it takes, your knowledge is always worth sharing when it helps people. As I sit here in Sydney lockdown, I still can’t wait for my next trip or next life steps. So thanks for being genuine and honest with what you’re feeling because you’re not alone in that feeling of uncertainty!

I’m sorry for what you are going through. It’s really good to hear you are getting help. Travel was my whole life and I watched so many of your videos in my preparation of going to Thailand. I’m going away for the first time since Covid started to see my family (if they don’t change the rules) and there are so many new worries, I used to look forward to getting on that plane. Now everything is so uncertain. Maybe you can travel a little bit again?

Enjoy that trip to see your family! I just got back from seeing my family in the UK (travelled from USA) - you really have to be prepared for anything to go wrong now, but it's 1000% worth it. Delta got scary fast, test to release never arrived, return flight got cancelled with no notice - but all problems that could be dealt with, and my mental health is hugely improved after enjoying that much-needed visit.

@@BeckyC123 thank you! My flight is only £25 return but the Covid tests are going to be £200. But it’s worth if everything works out. Guess we have to get used to a new normal. Glad you had a good time seeing your family

Glad to see you have not completely given up on this Channel. My Wife and I really enjoy watching your travel video's and when we first stumbled upon your Channel, we spent a weekend just binge watching from the very beginning. Your enthusiasm and sense of awe when experiencing new places is almost contagious. It is a different time now and you are not the same person you were when this whole COVID started. Just find what makes you happy and do it. If you are not content with travel video's then don't force yourself, you'll turn miserable and your content will reflect that. Hoping you'll find some spark still there is some form of travel content, whether it's van camping around the UK or just exploring various cities around the UK at B&B's....what ever.Either way, will be looking forward to what you get into. Take care.

You know what I love must about travels? People talking about them. Upcoming, ongoing or done long ago. The improbable stories, the details, the meetings... Starry eyes, passionate, reliving. You went many places, you guided us trough them and gave advice. Take a metaphorical box of souvenirs of one place and just go full on grandma story time. Show trinkets if you have any, pictures, clips, tell us stories like when you reminisce with a friend (with some wine perhaps?) about that trip you took together. Don't be scared of formats, or length or if you already said it in a video before. Like a new playlist of grandma stories of this little planet you travelled. Just an idea! Love you Aly! See you on the other channel as well :)

I was in my 40's and sold everything I owned... except what fit into a 34-liter backpack and started down the nomad trail, beginning in Southeast Asia. It took years to set myself up (financially, socially, emotionally, mentally), to flip my life upside down and finally do it. It was an amazing experience, that for people who haven't done it, could never imagine. I made it 14 months and then COVID hit. I still haven't recovered (financially, socially, emotionally, mentally). So I totally get where you're coming from. I have completely lost my sense of direction in the aftermath. Hope you are doing well and that you and I both find our direction, purpose and inspiration again. Cheers!

Sending you lots of virtual hugs. Ah, covid has been a nightmare for so many people, myself included. Moved to the UK from Malta in Feb 2020 just three weeks before UK went into lockdown. No job and on my own, I had to return back to my home country after 5months. I was in the same position as you, my dear. Lost, unemployed at 30, and feeling like I'm a failure because I wasn't achieving anything in my life. Dying to travel again but I'm not sure if I'd enjoy it as much knowing I might get sick during the trip and risking having to quarantine and stay in the country I'm visiting for longer than anticipated. Testing times for everyone, but we're all in this together xx

One thing I've learnt recently is that it's ok not to want to do something anymore. There's always this expectation that once we start something, we can never stop, or that it's a sign of failure. No way. Change is normal and positive. There's that meme, "you've changed"...."We're supposed to". I'm sure you've thought of it but what about just booking a cheeky flight to Poland or something (I'm not sure of the latest on the UK), get out that camera and get that travel magic back? It might do the trick! I'm in the process of dedigitalnomadising (lol) myself and just moved to Serbia. I'm still going to be making travel videos from here and elsewhere (a bit like when you were in Budapest I guess). You do have a lot of experience to offer in terms of travel and DN life, I know it's easy to forget that! I'm sure you'll work it out hun!

I like the idea of seeing someone who travels but isn't a nomad because it seems more reachable for those of us who can't necessarily drop everything and become nomads but still want to travel a lot. Even if you take a break and come back to PsychoTraveller years down the road, you built this from nothing and you can absolutely rebuild. I also think that no matter WHAT you choose, it will be the right answer. We tend to look at things as right or wrong, but it's what you make of that decision. Whether you continue with PsychoTraveller or not, that will become the right decision.

I know that you've been struggling, but I know that you have viewers that are still interested in seeing where you go in the campervan and are interested in you and this channel for whatever you make it. Don't let what you think people's expectations are control what happens. Just be you. Missed your vids and would love to see what you guys did with the van. It was a work in progress that we didn't get to see finished. Most travel vloggers are going through the same things-some changed direction to van life-some bought and renovated or are building houses, some are doing local travel. You are not alone and remember that whatever you decide to do, people will still be interested.
@evelynbarry50463 жыл бұрын
That's a good point, you had 8 years as a nomad/travelvlogger. I don't think anyone expected you to do 20 years and retire. Was that something you were considering? It's known that these days people will have 3 or 4 different careers in thier lifetime. I'm in my 40s and on my 3rd. What do you think about starting something completely different than vlogging and keeping it as a hobby? What about trying a 9 to 5 for a different pace? I was an accountant and tired of it so in between contracts I worked at a gym (I'm not a gym person at all) just to refresh my soul a bit and try something very different. Travel is going to come back soon. I think it's nice to take this time for a break and maybe experience something different.

Hey Aly, I've been watching your channel since 2013. What a long strange trip it's been! Who knew in March 2020 we'd still be coming out of this almost 2 years later. Life has changed immeasurably for so many of us, if not most of us. My life of living abroad was also brought to a screeching halt because of covid. I still love travel and want to do it, and still want to live abroad again throughout my life, but I'd be kidding myself if I hadn't learned some hard (but beneficial) lessons because of covid. There's been plenty of silver linings, but you're right, shit has really changed. There is no way back to 2019 or early 2020. There is only a path forward. I'm sure it includes travel for you and for so many of us. Clearly though, we are all on a journey, and all we have is the present moment. We have to be like water and flow with life. There will be many phases and chapters. Good on you for being open to it. No matter what you do, you seem like you have the strength to handle it--on youtube or off!

Man I feel this so hard. For like 5 years my whole plan was to save up and buy a van and convert it and travel with my cat while traveling for work, and then I finally paid off all my debt and started saving up for the van and then ended up having to get an apartment since my newest job wouldn’t pay to have me live in a hotel and now that’s thrown everything off cause I really like it in this town lol. Now I’m like well what’s my goal now? What do I do now? Anyway, no matter what you choose, I’m staying cause I love how authentic you are in all your videos. ❤️

I just want to say personally I have been following you for years not only for the travel stuff but because I absolutely love your personality and I think your vulnerability is so refreshing thank for continuing to post. I guess my question is have you ever thought about getting back into doing what you were originally going to do before you started psychotravellar ie using your psychology degree maybe to become a therapist since therapy is mostly done over zoom now a days maybe that could be another income stream for you even though I know its much more schooling. I have my psychology degree as well and wanted to be a therapist but the initial pathway costs so much for the amount i would be paid in the meantime before I get licensed. It sounds like you are going with the flow which makes sense. One thing you could focus on when the time is right is the great 'Travel Re-Opening Narrative'. This looks like it will occur but for the time being countries are re-opening at different speeds. The UK is doing ok at the moment due to their high vaccination rate. Here in Australia we are locked down in much of the country. However, there will be a story where there are lots of things to discuss for those in countries that are open to one another. For example, topics to discuss could include what the best places to travel are for people based on having a vaccine certificate etc and other countries that accept them. The point is that as travel re-opens, there is a' re-opening narrative' and make no mistake, there is a lot of pent up demand for travel overseas etc. I think everyone is desperate to travel (huge amount of pent up demand) and get away to somewhere else to put Covid behind them and have a reset. Once more countries open for travel just image how explosive that industry will be and all the topics that go with that. Having said all that waiting and seeing how things go makes a lot of sense as you mentioned. As things pick up you'll see where there are opportunities and whether you want to do those things or find other interesting projects to work on.

Hey there, thank you so much for opening up about your struggles, experiences, and reflections about your channel and personal journey. It's incredibly brave of you to share your uncertainties and thoughts with us. Remember, it's completely okay to feel uncertain and to question where you fit into the grand scheme of things. Your authenticity, the vulnerability you showed in this video, and your rich travel experience are some of the things that make your channel unique and invaluable to your audience. We've journeyed with you through your travels, your highs and lows, and we'd love to continue to do so, regardless of the form that journey takes. The concept of being an "ex-nomad" could open up new and interesting avenues for your channel. You have a unique perspective that many of us would find enlightening and compelling. Your casual camper-van trips could be an exciting new direction, providing a blend of travel, lifestyle, and perhaps even introspection. Remember, channels evolve over time as the creators do. Your passion and enthusiasm for what you do, whether travel-related or not, is what keeps us coming back. We'll be with you every step of the way, and we can't wait to see where your journey takes you next. Keep exploring, keep sharing, and most importantly, keep being you! We're rooting for you, and we're excited to see what you come up with next. Stay strong and keep going!

We all aren't the people we were 2 years ago. It's thougher on some than on others, like you, who has to basically make a new life of sorts for yourself. I don't feel like I fit in the world anymore, either. International travel is the single most important thing in my life, and it's immoral and will remain immoral probably for a long time. I can't go back to my dance troupe because in-person indoor contact is immoral. I never wanted a life that was just a job, but my country's lack of desire to do outbreak control has reduced me to that.

In regards to questioning work/lifestyle, I've felt a similar thing coming towards the end of my phd and deciding that i'm now not going through with an academic career. There is certainly grief and it is hard figuring out what next. Looking forward to where your journey takes you next :) Also - travel via books? i was like whys this fucking girl moving to the uk at the height of her channel. you really have to move to ig brand yourself there. and then you can run ads with partners forwhatever.

if it wasnt money you really did yourself in by moving to the uk for sure. i called it when it happend i said this was over for her if she moves in.

Change the channel name to your first and last name, and start doing daily vlogs locally. A chunk of your followers may unsub, but you will gain a whole new following instead.

Have you thought about rebranding your channel with your own name? Literally combine your 2 channels into one “Ally Ford” channel.

My job went with the pandemic too, it's like your job is now illegal!! Maybe you need to get back travelling to know if your don't want that to be your focus anymore. You might go on your first trip and be like, yes this is me or now I know that this is not what I enjoy anymore. Maybe it might be an idea to get a business mentor or a life coach. In Ireland we have Local Enterprise Boards who give you free business mentoring sessions. I think perhaps that most people are here for you, not your travelling so perhaps its not great to have two channels? I'm no expert though!

Question for you to think about - Do you even want to be making youtube videos full time anymore? It's okay if you don't. I know you have previously said you can't picture yourself in a 'normal' job again. But honestly, there are so many careers and jobs out there these days, there could be one out there that is perfect for you. Hell, you could even make money editing other content creators videos.

Love this channel but the book channel makes me feel a bit guilty coz I know I should be reading books. I have a big backlog on Kindle and also a room full of physical books at my old house. They’re all great books but so many distractions. Good luck with working out this channel. I shelved my travel channel and started working on a retro gaming channel during covid. Will come back to travel when it becomes a bit easier, it’s still a pain in the arse.

Just wake up everyday and decide what you want to do that day, and do it. No need to plan ahead. Just live life and make each day a happy one.

You need to get back on that bike and do what you're very good at and start travelling again with your sponsors

So I have worn out literally by wearing too much, your psycho traveler T-shirts. Is there any chance of getting a 3X or larger of the psycho traveler T-shirts before you abandon this channel? Thank you very much I loved this channel I supported this channel I supported the Murch for this channel but I understand and can appreciate you’re not inspired for this channel anymore so you do you but don’t do it before I can get my hands on some more Merch 😂
