I never comment on here. Ever. But I'm making an exception here. I've been subbed for quite a while to both of your channels and you've been a HUGE inspiration to allowing Sketchup be a main modeling tool for video game level design and archviz in general. Thank you for continuing to show Unreal Engine 4 workflow with Sketchup, as well as Sketchup tips in general. I've been adept with Sketchup for years but getting it to run with game engines has always been tricky, so thank you again. I hope you continue to make UE4 tutorials. :)

Thanks very much - I really appreciate you taking the time to leave this comment. I'm very interested in Unread Engine, so I should be continuing with these tutorials for a long time. If there's anything specific you'd like to see, let me know!

Certainly! Can you maybe go over the material / node editor at some point? I know datasmith transfers the textures/materials over to Unreal with predefined features that you can edit but some of them don't seem to work properly. Like when you clicked on the "translucent" check box (or whatever it was called to make a material see-through) on your last video, it didn't seem to do anything. I'm curious if that's just a bug from it being a beta or if something else needs done? I mainly ask because transferring things like mirrors, glass, etc. from Sketchup will be difficult. Same with curtains, etc. - I'll be doing my own research to try to figure it out but if you ever get around to it, that'd be awesome! Thanks again for uploading videos so often. I really enjoy them.

Nice video but what scale did you model the SU table in? Was this in real world inches or what? Interested in using Unreal for ArchViz work. Thanks
@TheRenderingEssentials6 жыл бұрын
I modeled the table in real world feet and inches in SketchUp.

Thanks for the reply. So did it scale correctly in Unreal or will some scaling be needed to use in a level? Thanks
@TheRenderingEssentials6 жыл бұрын
Still playing around with this - from what I can tell, it comes in to scale alright, and the materials seem to come in alright, but when I try to apply Unreal Engine materials to the faces created in SketchUp, I'm getting some odd results. Those materials may need to be scaled or changed to work with SketchUp faces - still playing around with it...

I wonder if it is as simple as a "US standard" to "metric" conversion? I'll give it a try today and let you know. I was having to do similar when bringing in SU items into Unity.

Hi Justin ! Is this video really in 360dpi ? Or do I have a problem ? Have a great day.

George - can you check again? This may be a KZbin issue - it seems like there's at least a 720p option now

Why, when I load a project that I imported from datasmith, does it have the empty template environment again?
@TheRenderingEssentials6 жыл бұрын
Did you drag the item into your model from the content browser after you imported it?
