Was just hired for a IT Tech 2 position based on my experience at my current job and my degree. I have 6 month period to get A+ Certified and after studying some I can tell my time at my current job will be a big help when studying

Thank for this video. I am planning to do hands-on Virtual Labs as much as I can not just A+ but any of the VL offered to help get my skills and experience needed to be in the IT field, at least at the entry level. It looks like it is virtual on-the-job training for me, I don't have to be touching or damaging the real equipment. It is a good start for me. I really like the roadmap for IT.

Hey Wes! I know this video is 2 years old, but hopefully you still get comment alerts! I have a question! I want to get A+ certified, I noticed in the roadmap you were looking at, Google IT Cert is on there as a beginner step. When I clock the link to CompTIA's roadmap, google cert isn't there. Is google IT cert an acceptable certification that will teach me what I need to know to pass my A+ cert exam? I'm looking to enroll in courses but I've come across a lot of spammy sites that seem a little shady. Thanks so much!

Do you need the recommended experience of 9-12 month hands on experience to take the test? What happens if you don’t have experience? Does this mean you won’t get a job?

Response from Wes: Great question in reference to the A+ exam(you are not the first), the "recommendation" is to have 9-12 months experience in the LAB or field. This is not a requirement to take or pass the A+ certification exams, it just means that it would be of tremendous help to the exam candidate. You can also get "hands-ons experience" in a simulated lab environment. When I took and passed my A+ certification is was a fast-food restaurant manager with zero hands-on skills. I made a career change and was hired immediately, with the intention that the employer would help with the hands-on part. So do not get discouraged, you can do it and you can be successful!

Hey TransformersChevy! I attended an 8 week in-person program and had no prior IT experience prior to passing the CompTIA A+ exam. The CompTIA A+ certification is usually required for entry-level IT customer service/ helpdesk roles which do not necessarily require prior IT experience.

You do not! A+ is a great starting point in your IT journey, and has no prerequisites.

im taking the A+ courses through you guys and there seems to be video missing. in the course notes there is a file named lesson 5 install and upgrade cpu's but in the course no such video exist.

Comptia A+ exam fee is 226 USD, is the price for both the core 1 and core 2 exams?

CompTIA charges $226 per A+ exam so you will need to pay for and pass 220-1001/Core 1 (at $226) and then pay for and pass 220-1002/Core 2 (at $226) for a total of $452 for the A+ certification.
