Seems like OPR is gaining some serious momentum recently. It would be cool to see other companies create supplementary material in the future to delve into more lore and advanced rulesets. Thanks for the introduction!

Heyo, great video, but just wanted to chime in and let you know that you misunderstood AP. AP does not affect Quality Tests, it affects Defense Tests. An Ogre with a 3+ save who is hit by AP(2) will need to roll a 5+ Defense Test normally, but because of their rule the AP is reduced by 1 and thus they need to make a 4+ on their Defense Test.

Yes, GW games have evolved into a competitive play format where all the different rules for different phases make it unmanageable unless you spend a lot of time practicing. Being that the game takes a lot of time to prepare and play, that takes away from the amount of games you can play. OPR allows you to get in more games and less to master, yet is still fun and can be competitive to a degree.

You tend to confuse A (=Attack) getting modified by AP(-1) (=Armor piercing -1). This is incorrect. AP is a damage modifier and thus it is used on the DEFENSE roll, not the ATTACK roll! This was already the case in 2021. See core rules description "AP(X): Targets get -X to Defense rolls when blocking hits."

26:26 Can you please explain how the Warcheifs attack doesn't allow a block. Is it because his AP 4 is higher than the opponents Def?
@TableTopWolf19843 жыл бұрын
The AP adds onto the defence roll you need, and you can't roll a 7. Please check the proper how to play video though as thats where more detailed questions are answered.

@@TableTopWolf1984 I understand, With the AP being 7 I just assumed you need a six to block. But that makes sense rules-wise. Thanks. My son and I just started playing.

@@innpeasea5121 if you're just starting I strongly recommend my how to play much more, as that was meant to cover everything about the game, and runs you through all of the rules properly, this is more just a demo to show you the flavour of its gameplay, there might even be mistakes I might have missed as I haven't played a wargame since I last did the how to play last year
@Vitaedrinker3 жыл бұрын
This is incorrect: Whenever a modifier applies to one of your rolls, simply add or subtract the value from the roll and the new value counts as the final result, however a roll of 6 always counts as a success and a roll of 1 always counts as a fail, regardless of how much it is being modified by.
@vividpsychosis82222 жыл бұрын
@@Vitaedrinker yup! There should have been rolls. Because a 6 is still a block regardless of AP making it a 7 in GD

I am missing something obvious -please help. When I go to the Forge, most of the "Unit" stats indicate that the "Unit" is only 1 Model -- (1) in brackets, correct? Are we supposed to simply combine 3 or even five of these models into a "squad"? For example, the Battle Brothers unit stats only listed 1-person units? How does this work - what is the limit to the number of figures and how do you find that out?
@TableTopWolf198411 ай бұрын
are you looking at grimdark future fire fight which is the skirmish game or grimdark future? The brackets means the unit size, so most battle brothers I see are 3 or 5 unit sized an then you just double that number to make a combined unit. In firefight every unit is individual as its a skirmish kill team style game, so every unit is separate

Gave Grimdark Future a try a couple times recently and it honestly felt like the most generic and banal game I've ever played. Maybe I've missed something but it got really boring after a bit, without any tactics or strategy in there. Just move, shoot, repeat...
@TableTopWolf1984 Жыл бұрын
Then don't take this wrong, but I think its either not for you, or you weren't playing it right, coz the strategy and tactics come from making your moment to moment instant decisions. You only activating 1 unit a time is where the main tactics and strategy are, as they are done for that entire round then, so the savvy players will keep the stronger units back to have a nice mid to late round punch, teasing chaff to bait opponents units you want to try to destroy, either out of cover or, just out of activation to give your better movement and positioning for your turn, or turns if you go first next round. Great players of this are like Bolt Action, Saga or Dragon Rampant ones, they would be almost impossible to beat coz its all about making the best decisions every activation and making your opponent make the wrong one their activation to punish them like you planned. This has way more strategy and tactics than anything by GW from my perspective
@Son0fAggression Жыл бұрын
@@TableTopWolf1984 if that is truly it, then it likely really isn't for me. The only game that doesn't have alternating activations is 40k which is stuck in the 80s and a horrendous game imo. Every other game worth its salt has them already as a base construct, while adding actually interesting concepts to it. OPR seems to do the very bare minimum in that regard. Alternating activations. Don't get me wrong, that is a big step forward from 40k but 40k is the lowest bar in the hobby to clear. I guess I was just getting into this with way too high expectations. It is a good tool to get youngsters into tabletop I guess, so that's a big plus.
