Its a bit different, I feel its more like dragon rampant, especially as there is not to hit and then to wound rolls before saves. This and the fantasy version are great tho and its worth checking out, especially as its all free

Late comment but yes, it was written as a spiritual successor to 2nd edition. The earlier versions of GrimDark Future were actually out before 40K 8th edition, so any suggestion that it's a copy of 8th edition is mistaken.

There are also advanced rules available for Patrons that include Strategens, alternative missions, more terrain rules, alternative deployment supplies, and pictures explaining distance measurement. That said, they end up at 32 pages, not one, but it's only about twice the number of rules, just laid out with more space and pictures.

@@HerbaceousM8 This is not a problem. The creator of GrimDark Future, Gaetano Ferrara, took measures to eliminate any trace of IP issues a few editions ago. There are no trademarked words used in any of the material for this game.

Not really; as with normal 3d minis, you mostly use the base as a measure anyway.

The base is the same regardless, I would just have a rule to turn models with overhanging bits so the model is as exposed as possible given it's base position. It's hard to explain in words, but try to be reasonable about which models would have to have parts of their body sticking out from behind cover if they were 3d models.

Could somebody explain to me how i can take a prime judge into my watchbrothers team? I dont understand how many points i have to spend for it with tactical planer or do i have to just pay the regular prime list costs?

I'm unsure on those mate, usually all the points are on the sheet, you might just need to use the prime brothers ones

if you're playing one army list, and want to include a model with rules from a _different_ list (like, as you say, adding a Judge from the Prime Brothers list into a Watch Brothers army), there's absolutely nothing to stop you just transplanting it. All the stats are built using the exact same system, and nothing ties them intrinsically to their list.

Do vehicles like tanks get to shoot into melee, or just use a single melee attack?

If your tank is charged it can't shoot or perform melee actions, unless it states it can on its profile, it gets locked into combat like old 40k, but is free from combat as soon as the melee ends. When you charge with it though you get impact (x) hits which are automatic hits with no AP value unless stated. You have to remember though that combat is just an action that is instantly completed you don't have i go you go like 40k.
