Hi! I am!! I would like to try and combine these 2 programs.. but my sketchup model doesn't get imported fully and correctly. Lots of bits and pieces wrong or missing. I'm using 4.27 and have used your 4.27 tut as well. Maybe unreal 5 might be better with the direct link you think?

its more complicated but the possibilities are endless. imagine creating a gamelike experience of a project where your client can walk through the project fps style and click on action buttons to open a door, turn lights on and off, or maybe pick up objects. massive potential for an immersive experience.

I'm all ..."dang i gotta go change my pants again" giddy excited over this UE5 thing now. I'm fresh off AutoCAD and SketchUp going into UE5 without a clue, but thinking it is all the solutions to everything SketchUp was in ways limited. I'm in an office with guys nearly half my age who've been c++ students for years and Maya and Blender and Houdini users who are baffled by a lot of what UE5 does or even how to do it. I was expecting to go into the software with a little bit of an advantage having been designing for decades longer than they've been alive. By your comment, I know now my edge is restored. Thanks.

Yes I can feel you. My datasmith plugin in SK isn't working. Only gives me ONE button not several like in his tutorial. Between SK and UE 5.3 it creates bizarre .datasmith files that don't show up at the end. So I try with fbx but 75% of my file (in this case a three storey building do not show up in UE. So frustrating to have close friends who at least dabble around between the two software here in YVR. Even in the game industry people seem not to be into UE and use many proprietary software in the studios and I don't know many in the field.

Actually You can simply render an image with a few clicks in UE. Just click the small 3 lines button on the left of prespective button. Then, click high resolution screenshots. New window will pop up automatically for the high resolution screenshots settings. Then just click create or something like that. UE will notify you where the image is placed in your folder

@Thesketchupessentials
@Thesketchupessentials 2 жыл бұрын
Generally I'd recommend Twinmotion for any kind of walkthroughs or rendered images. UE5 is where I'd go if I needed something more complex, like models you can interact with by wandering around, opening doors, changing colors, etc. Twinmotion will handle MOST standard rendering needs :)

Great intro video! Now my question is what is different between Unreal and Blender. I’ve never used Unreal and have dabbled in Blender previously and it seems to be very similar to it. Maybe a comparison video between both in the near future would help. So many options out there nowadays for rendering from SketchUp but most of the good ones come at a steep price. Blender and Unreal seem to provide similar quality but at zero the cost. I think the biggest con to both of these free softwares is that since they’re geared for multi-industry use the learning curve for someone just interested in rendering architectural images and videos is way harder than those other paid softwares that are specifically designed for architectural renderings. Thanks!
@Thesketchupessentials

Blender is a modeling and rendering program while Unreal Engine is more of game engine - I wouldn't say they're really replacements for each other

@@Thesketchupessentials Yeah man, thanks for the answer. I am on the same boat, have played a bit with Blender and just getting to know Unreal. I just assume that most of us SketchUp Users are looking for better/faster/easier ways to render our models... It seems like Unreal can be it. Blender is awesome but modeling in it is another beast on it's own. The other rendering options that I have come across for SketchUp seem to be very weak, clumsy. What gives? thanks, good luck with your challenge!
@xmiguelx
@xmiguelx 2 жыл бұрын
@@Thesketchupessentials At their core yes. My interest would be in the architectural SketchUp rendering main use if one software would be better fit vs the other (considering they’re both free vs paid and offer probably the better quality of all free rendering software that I’ve seen) in things such as quality of render, material realism, ease of use/interface, render time and several other factors most of those who use SketchUp for architecture would look for. Thanks for the reply! Great content as usual. Keep it up 🔥

@@aurisnow I would say the free version of D5 render that also offers a "working" sync with SK offers fast and up to 8K renders. I only get ONE export button that gives me (.datasmith) file format that don't show up in UE to import. When I try the same thing with fbx format it works but 75% of my model. in this case a building 3 storey disappear in the export import.
