Glad that Synology is putting resources and effort to these videos that help users set up and understand how to take advantage of the NAS. They would even better if 1 the presenter spoke a wee bit slower and clearer. If the info is new to the listeners they need to take in the words and ideas. Racing through the statements with all the jargon makes it useful for those already familiar but not those that aren't 2 it would nice if the distinctions were made more clearly between sharing with NAS users and people that don't have an account on the NAS.. And difference between snapshots and versioning…. 3 there are multiple options for backing up NAS files and it would be nice to explain those instead of just talking about HyperBackup and C2

I can only agree with the comment. It is simply spoken too fast, even with little knowledge, it is impossible to follow the content. Especially when you have to read the subtitles, there is no more time to realize the opened windows. You have to constantly stop the video and sometimes jump back. In the business area, the videos are processed much better in terms of speed.

I agree, jargon, high speed speech and a nasal voice makes this video much harder to follow than part 1.

At 33:45 you've spelled "Embedded" and "Embeddend". I thought I saw an earlier error as well, near the start, where "staition" was used instead of 'station". Can't find it quickly now. Useful video though!! I'm about to go and buy a Synology NAS as my UPS and PSU fried 3 of 4 drives last week... a NAS with 4 drives is about the same cost as the data recovery cost...

Thank you. @35:30 the footage is stuttering, as it does on mine 920+. How do we solve this? I have hundreds of 4k 60p home videos that play back flawlessly from my Mac but not from my 920+. Also, I don't see an option in Video Station for selecting multiple home movies ( using command + shift) to share simultaneously via a link . Thank you

It would be nice if the app would work with my older android phone. Makes sense that my older phone would need to be able to backup photos, considering that it can hold a lot less than newer phones.

I have thousands of pictures inside the mobile... what is the solution to backup them WITHOUT applying tags to all of them from zero?

Why did some " genius " at Synology decide to remove the ability to find and remove duplicate photos in Moments when they designed Synology Photos ? That has to go down in history as the dumbest decision of a corporation in living memory, given how useful that feature was !!!

Isn't it weird that new versions/software lose functionality instead of being improved upon? It's the same with Synology Drive too 😭😓
@damospearzo10322 жыл бұрын
@@byron_sg Totally agree, which is why i use Linux for 90 % of what i do, M1 mac for video editing, and Windows for nothing more than the odd video game that won't play nice on Linux Steam. As for Synology and their Nas, i have Qnap and Synology Nas and while Synology is a far better beast regarding software, both are pretty woeful in the hardware dept,. I have just embarked on building a Linux server using a Linux desktop distro with Nextcloud and Kodi installed. So far so good, set up on the LAN and accessible with registered domain name. Next step ssl cert and WAN. And this server also has the all the over kill power i want with an intel i5 quad core and Nvidia graphics card i had that was not being fully utilized. My server, my way with the hardware/power i want.

When will folder sync be ready on Synology Drive for iOS? It's ridiculous that your software gets worse & loses functionality instead of better! On DS Cloud, you can sync entire folders whereas you can only mark individual files offline on Drive 🤦♂🤦♂ You're doing your users such a disservice by pushing out new software that is missing existing features! 😡
@kittytwister90115 ай бұрын
Talking way too fast. Also, Synology Drive feels like a redundant process for just accessing files through the file manager if I'm using this for my home. ALSO when we get to the Sync part of the webinar it doesn't show us how he got there and I can't find out how to get there easily on my own. Part 1 was fantastic, part 2 feels like I might be wasting my time.

I am a former network manager. I'm over 4 minutes into the video, and it all just sounds like word salad. How the heck is this a "getting started" guide for home users? Home users don't give a crap about "converting all their weird documents to Synology Office file format. In fact, that is the last thing ANY home users is going to want to do. There may be usable info in the rest of this video, but I'm not going to put myself through this kind of torture just on the off chance that there is.
@AdrianEarnshawMusic2 жыл бұрын
Calling it 'Private Cloud' is a bit misleading. If your NAS is off you don't have access to those documents or files. A true cloud environment factors in redundancy if the main server goes down. A more correct term would be 'Private Storage'.
@unstopology2 жыл бұрын
So keep it on.
@AdrianEarnshawMusic2 жыл бұрын
@@unstopology you seem to miss the point. Cloud storage means redundancy. If one node goes down you can still access your data. Your Synology unit blows up or the PSU dies etc then no access to storage. Therefore, Private Storage is a much more accurate term.
@platanogrande29072 жыл бұрын
So get a second nas and have them run 24/7
@AdrianEarnshawMusic2 жыл бұрын
@@platanogrande2907 you can but the information from Synology does not suggest that. It basically says one unit = cloud, which is misleading.
@unstopology2 жыл бұрын
@@AdrianEarnshawMusic Technically I think "cloud" storage just means it's available through the internet. "Redundancy" does not necessarily equal "cloud".
