Finally a combo that sounds like a complete 4x12 rig! I'm getting a tone very close to the one Kiss had on their 1977 Alive 2 Album. I'm using a 1961 Silvertone 1472 1x12 with a 1973 Celestion G12M25 75Hz Pulsonic Greenback in it with a 1973 Gibson Les Paul Custom with a 1977 Dimarzio Super distortion in the bridge. Peluso 2247LE close and room mics through API 312 preamps and UREI 1176 Compressors. Post processing: UA EMT 140 plate, UA Pultec EQ, UA EP tape echo. Post EQ cuts at 100, 350, 750, 2k and 7kHz

I have to say in a blindfold test I would not be able to identify the difference between the many amp and speaker combinations Johan uses. All very similar to large degree. What I can also say is that all of his tones are head and shoulders above today's oversaturated, overdriven, synthetic offerings. My opinion and not a statement of fact. Great channel 👍

Johan, you have discovered the exact combo/axe i used in 1977 when i was just starting out. I added an Electro-Harmonix LPB-1 inline pedal adter reading Ace's Guitar magazine interview, and believe me, without seeing what was being played, it was very hard not to imagine a wall of 100 watters blowing the roof off the auditorium. Excellent find! I still have my 1472 purchased in 1966 for me by my father. Best wishes for you and your new toy.

i love videos that reminds me you can record a great tone without a 100W 4x12. i'll get there, eventually. i got a brunetti 20x tube combo, a mini jubilee combo, a DIY 5w tube head, a 5150 lbx, a 1x12 cab, a 2x12 (both with v30s) a spare g12t75... and quite a few mics already.

Amazing sound from that Silvertone. No matter it's an small amp, I believe it's great for recording, even with a mic to PA speakers. With a Les Paul custom and Johan's great playing really sounds very very close to the vynil, this amp is really "Alive" . Thanks! 👍

In my own deep nerding on the ace alive II "crispy Mack Truck" tone....the closest I came was a JMP 2204 with every knob at 6 except bass at 2, era 4x12 with blacks, mxr distortion + with volume decked and gain just below noon. LPStandard with DiMarzio Super-D. It's that sound at the beginning of 'Makin Love' on Alive II.

What a coincidence, this afternoon a friend brought me a 1482, quite the same amp but with some more watts I think (15 vs 10). it is completly original with a 12" alnico horseshoe speaker from the 60". I have to check it because it is very noisy.

I need to get my 1958 Danelctro Cadet 122 working! When I run a TS9 tube screamer & DOD Classic Tube FX53 in fromt of it, the amp just drips tone for days! Sadly last time I played it, it stopped working. The tubes light up but no sound. I haven't spent any time looking it over. Its all original and even has the original 3x9 (i think that is the size) speaker in it. But did it sound awesome when it was running!

Hi Johan, vintage g12m75 are getting hard to come by. What modern speaker do you recommend? Is celestion the best? I saw your videos on sanding the cone. do you recommend this or any other treatments? just wondering the best way to get a vintage sounding g12m. thanks so much! Love your channel!
